Retrospect's second annual publication for the academic year 2020/2021, Histories of Hope features 19 articles all exploring different aspects of hope throughout time.

From hopes about the success of mass vaccination to hopes about social and political changes, COVID-19 has tested our hopes and dreams to the limit. Retrospect has encouraged our writers to reflect on hope in “Histories of Hope.” Looking for pieces that dwell on the importance of hope across time, we asked: how has hope been conceptualised by different groups? What have people in the past hoped and dreamed for? When have hopes been dashed and how has this impacted individuals and societies?
