A day in the Life of... Emma Edgar

Director of Sales at London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale

Emma Edgar is the Director of Sales at the London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale and has worked there for three years but has a wealth of industry experience as she’s been with Marriott for a total of 16 years. The London Marriott Maida Vale is set in London’s Maida Vale neighbourhood, offering a great location with stunning canal views. We caught up with Emma to find out more about her role and this excellent venue.

What is the best part of your job and your least favourite part?

My favourite part is getting the opportunity to meet new people and that every day is so varied. There really isn’t a least favourite; I genuinely love my job and hospitality.

What’s the most memorable event held at your venue?

One of the most memorable events we’ve held was a Halloween Party, which was so much fun, we had dancers, musicians, a magician and treasure hunt!

What’s your favourite dish on the menu at the moment?

There are so many delicious options to choose from but I would have to say that my favourite dish at the moment is the Penne Giardiniera Pasta and Arancini.

What are the catering options available for delegates?

We are very flexible and can create bespoke menus to suit our clients taste, or we also offer our standard menus which cover a wide variety of options and styles.

Do you have a favourite meeting/ event room and why?

I love ‘The Studio’, it has floor to ceiling windows, a private street level entrance, as well as a sofa/soft furnishing section for breaks and offers a relaxed working environment.

What do you like to do in your down-time?

I’ve recently moved to a new house and have found a new passion in gardening! I also love to go to the theatre.

What can a 24-hr delegate do in their down-time?

There is so much to do, little Venice is within walking distance and so is the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing. We’re also very close to Wembley and the Mayfair area of London.

Why should an event organiser pick your venue?

We’re extremely flexible and ‘will make things happen’, along with the normal attributes that we’re really organised, have great food and a wonderful team. Our hotel tagline is ‘Arrive as a visitor, leave as a local.’ We want people to walk through the doors not knowing who we are or what we do and then leave feeling like part of the family.
