GUEST LIST BLACK LIST We’re all for big NYE bookings, but when you have Guetta, Garrix, Luciano, Jazzy Jeff, Nervo, Pete Tong, Duke Dumont and more all in town, a few promoters are going to make a big loss, which is never a good thing. While we’re on the subject, one local publication called David Guetta the Godfather of House music. No, no and a bit more no.
PETA, the animal welfare charity, complained about the recent Deep Under part which took place in the Atlantis Aquariam. We’re with PETA on this one guys, dance music and animals don’t mix.
SAY WHAT? RUMOURS • Jazzy Jeff is likely to be back at Barasti for their NYE party this year. • The Martinez Brothers are coming back to play a beach club in the city soon. • Techno don Richie Hawtin has been confirmed as the Groove on the Grass NYE headliner. •Cake-flinging EDM DJ Steve Aoki is coming to town next February for RedFest.

Nasimi
Nasimi is back, and back in style. Having become one of the biggest beach clubs in the region when it first launched in 2010, thanks in no small part to our Full Moon Parties (humble brag), the venue has gone through several changes, not all of which have worked. But after a summer of planning and hustling, the Atlantis venue is back to its best, with thousands descending every weekend to party on the sand. The secret to their success? They’ve gone for the EDM/commercial jugular, with resident DJ David De Luca leading the charge. This year they’ve brought rising names like Otto Knows, Deorro and Firebeatz alongside established dance music icons like Basement Jaxx and Example, while they’ve just welcomed DJ Fresh and Eva Simons for their Nasimi Sessions event. And they’ve brought parties and promoters like Kisstory, Café Mambo and Club MTV on board. They’ve played to Nasimi’s strengths – a sand-between-your-toes dancefloor, a vast open sky and loud party music. Sometimes, nightlife is very, very simple. Coming up!

GROOVE ON THE GRASS FEAT. GUI BORRATO @ EMIRATES GOLF COURSE The homegrown boutique festival returned with a vengeance after their summer break. Bringing together all things techno and house, alongside their flourishing night market, day-glo hula hoopers and general madness, the set up was their biggest yet spread across two stages. Production king Warren had clearly been busy over the summer, and the new lay out worked very well, with the 2nd stage offering a distinct look, feel and sound. The season opening was a game of two halves for us: the first part was very chilled as we lay on the grassy banks listening to the local support build the background and set the scene for DJ Hell. Living up to his name, he brought it and he brought it hard and got us on the floor. Working the crowd with a smile on his face, he handed over to the main stage headliner Gui Boratto and his live set up. We love his productions, but the set was a little too ploddy and samey for us, so we headed over to the 2nd stage to get hot and sweaty. And Troy Pierce duly obliged, dropping a set full of quirky clicks, big drops and dancefloor filling techno. P.S. They’ve only gone and booked Richie Hawtin for their NYE party. Most excellent news. DUBAI COMEDY FESTIVAL @ DUBAI MARINA After a week filled with headlining international acts, spontaneous street performers, local comedy nights, hundreds of punchlines and thousands of laughs, the first edition of the festival was received with open arms and we’re already looking forward to its return. Having personally performed in two shows, Dubai is now more aware that there is a comedy scene that has been, and will continue to, grow across the country. I also had the pleasure of watching the Funny Girls’ show in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness and Emirati ‘King of Comedy’ Ali Al Sayed’s hilarious special ‘Onestly Sbeaking’. Top international acts Trevor Noah and Dave Chapelle rocked the SkyDive Dubai comedy stage and added their professional class to a festival that truly showed how funny Dubai is. But the fun doesn’t stop here – there are plenty of comedy shows every week in Dubai, so I’ll see you again soon Sam Moult

TAKE THAT @ DUBAI MEDIA CITY AMPHITHEATRE Take That didn’t disappoint with a show balanced with old and new hits and mesmerising backdrops. The hit songs of the night were definitely the old favourites including ‘Back for Good’, ‘Babe’ and ‘Never Forget’. 10,000 fans of all ages crammed into the Media City Amphitheatre straining to catch a glimpse of the three remaining members, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald. Gary Barlow had the front pit squealing with delight when he made his way off the stage for some up close and personal interaction. The rest of the crowd also got in on the action as star-crazed fans were picked out by the cameras and put on the big screen, where they promptly went crazy. All three stars got a chance to go solo in the limelight, before coming back as a trio to close the show. Like the crowd, they might be older and wiser, but with every single person screaming out the words at the top of their lungs, it was pretty clear that the band still had it. Tiffany Rayner

DXBEACH FEAT. CLEAN BANDIT @ ZERO GRAVITY While the DXBeach line up might not have been as all-star as we’d been expecting, it still brought in thousands hungry to kick-start the outdoor season with a big night out. Totally biased, but the locals stole the show for us, including homegrown duo Hollaphonic who added some house and hip hop vibes to their EDM juggernaut. Clean Bandit were ostensibly the headliners, but Idris Elba was our stand out pick (and not just for his looks). The man knew how to pull a crowd and keep us there with his pumping, bass-heavy set whilst jumping around, despite the heat and humidity. All in all, this felt like a giant fun beach party. More of the same next year please! Sarah Abel V

Groove on the Grass AFTER A MONSTROUS SEASON OPENING PARTY, GROOVE ON THE GRASS ARE BACK WITH ANOTHER 4 PRONGED LINE UP INCLUDING ELECTRONIC WHIZZ-KID NICOLAS JAAR AND POLISH TECHNO QUEEN MAGDA. WE’VE GOT THE FULL RUN DOWN ON THE HARD-HITTING TECHNO LINE UP AHEAD OF THEIR NOVEMBER 20 DATE AT EMIRATES GOLF COURSE
MAIN STAGE
Nicolas Jaar One of the hottest properties in electronic music over the past few years, Nicolas Jaar is a Chilean composer and artist based in New York. An experimental artist not afraid to break boundaries, he started making electronic music at 14, while his debut album ‘Space Is Only Noise’ catapulted him into the public eye, with Resident Advisor and Mixmag calling it the album of the year. After honing his live show over 3 years, he was voted as the best live act in the world by taste-makers Resident Advisor. More accolades quickly came his way, as his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix was voted the mix of the year in 2012, while he set up his own label Other People in 2013, putting out music by Lydia Lunch and fellow Groove guest Valentin Stip. A man who likes to let his music do the talking – his official biography is just 4 sentences long – he’ll be doing just that as he makes his Middle East debut on the main stage. Valentin Stip The French techno star Stip makes pulsing, energetic techno as well as dreamy soundscapes that you can lose yourself in. A musical prodigy, he started playing the piano at 7, then the guitar and finally got into music production and has released on Booma Collective, Other People and Vox Populi.

Magda Born in Poland, raised in Detroit and now based in Berlin, Magda first came to fame when she joined the Minus label and toured the world as Richie Hawtin’s warm up DJ. Opening gigs don’t come much better in the techno scene, and she capitalized fully, becoming an integral part of the dance music community. She has since been hand-picked to put mixes together for dance institutions Fabric and Balance, while she’s also remixed for Plastikman (Richie Hawtin’s slightly tougher techno alias) as well as dark pop overlords Depeche Mode. Since leaving the Minus label, she set up her own imprint – Items & Things – which has released music from Jimmy Edgar and recent Groove guest Troy Pierce. And with a Tequila brand to look after alongside a growing design portfolio, the Polish queen of techno is expanding her domain. Heartthrob Hailing from America, Heartthrob – or Jesse Siminski to the mail man – has held residencies at international hot spot Rex Club in Paris, and is also a regular at Fabric, Berghain, Womb and Space Ibiza. His high energy techno sound has seen him remix for The Knife and Depeche Mode, while his 2008 debut album was album full of emotionally charged techno. The producer’s best known hits include ‘Baby Kate’ and his Gaiser collaboration ‘Nasty Girl,’ and he remains one of the most accessible producers on the M-nus Roster. He’s also involved in product development for Ableton and Allen & Heath.

Raised in New Jersey, Sicily and Parma, his first job in the music industry was tour managing punk bands and organizing leftfield music events. His production skills take inspiration from influences as varied as The Beach Boys, The Who and Radiohead to Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Godspeed You Black Emperor! In 2010, he started his now pivotal techno label Life and Death, which signed (now huge) DJs Tale of Us and Mind Against early in their career. He now shares a studio with Tale of Us, who are one of the biggest names on the techno scene in the last 2 years.
He turned down a career as a professional tennis player (hence the name) and began producing music for theatre, movie soundtracks and TV commercials.

It’s not often that 3 DJs in the booth is better than one, but for French house trio Apollonia it’s very much the case. Individually they’re big names on the deep tech-house scene – Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom – but together they’re one of the most in-demand groups in the world. During the Ibiza season they headlined at DC10 and played the opening of Amnesia and the closing Ushuaia party to packed out dancefloors, while they’re regulars at CicoLoco,

IN THE LOOP RISING SOUTH AFRICAN FOLK SINGER JEREMY LOOPS MAKES HIS DEBUT IN DUBAI ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 19. WE CAUGHT UP WITH THE CAPE TOWN SINGER TO TALK GREEN ISSUES AND WHY TOURING THE WORLD HAS TAUGHT HIM PATIENCE…
Welcome to Dubai, where else have you been on your musical travels this year? The years are beginning to blur, but this year we’ve played shows in South Africa, Swaziland, the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, The Seychelles, Zambia, and maybe one or two other places I can’t recall at the moment.
Where did your inspiration and bringing about change in for your looping set up our own lives can be interpreted come from? as addressing green issues, if one I was working on a super yacht so chooses. One More Time 360 GETS A FRENCH HOUSE MAKEOVER THIS NOVEMBER, MON DIEU! CUTS ABOVE FEAT. ART OF TONES THURSDAY NOVEMBER 12 You know you’re in the right job when your debut album sells over 200,000 copies. That’s what happened to Art Of Tones, AKA French producer and DJ Ludovic Llorca, when his 2001 album sold big time. It led to releases on 2020 Vision, Freerange and Compost Black amongst others, while his tracks have been featured on Defected, Ministry of Sound and Fabric compilations. He’s now a vital part of the Local Talk team, one of the most hyped house labels around, crafting funked up house like ‘The Same Thing’ and more recently ‘The Rainbow Song,’ with its disco groove, vocal hook and jazzlike chords. Cuts Above feat. Art of Tones Thursday November 12, 360, 6pm-3am
DJ FALCON, FRIDAY NOVEMBER 20 Without a doubt the coolest DJ to be named after a bird of prey, DJ Falcon was – and still is – a pivotal part of the French house scene. Alongside Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk fame, he made several huge club hits including 2000’s ‘Together’ as well as regularly releasing on their seminal Roule label. He’s toured with the Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, and is a part of the Ed Banger and Kitsune families. More recently, he was a collaborator on Daft Punk’s last album, co-creating ‘Contact’ which is arguably one of the best tracks from the album. With funky basslines at the fore, and filtered disco melodies set to stun, his sets cover the best of the classic French Touch sound and using loops and acapellas creates one big party starting set. Also, a little insider knowledge for you – his cousin is Alan Braxe, AKA Stardust. Zut alors!

Dutch trance/EDM stars W&W are back at White Dubai for another night of hands in the air beats on Friday November 13, while they’re also part of the Formula 1 line up at MAD Yas Island on Sunday November 29
Dubai is… A place we always love to visit. The track I'm most proud of making is… Your best work should be your last, so we’ll go for 'The One’. Over the years, our sound… Has developed into a multi genre, it’s not just this or that! Our biggest fan is… Someone who has a good taste in music! The global dance music scene is… Always moving and now more diverse on the different continents than it used to be a few years back.. The DJ Mag poll is… A popularity poll, it says something, but not everything. The best club I've played this year was… Guaba Beach in Cyprus. One thing no one knows about us… Is something we like to keep that way. The most expensive thing we've bought is… A pair of classy shoes. Our show in Dubai will be… Wild! W&W play White Dubai, Meydan, Friday November 13 and MAD Yas Island (previously O1NE) on Sunday November 29.

BALANCE 28 – STACEY PULLEN House, Techno // balancemusic.com.au
One of the second wave of Detroit house and techno artists that emerged in the 90s, Stacey Pullen is on mix duties for the renowned Balance series that lets the DJ dig deeper into their collection. Spread across 2 CDs, the Kevin Saunderson collaborator, gets his chance to ‘play music I don’t get a chance to when I’m on the road.’ Which means the first CD contains tracks from Digitaria, a killer Revenge rework and an escalating Deetron re-rub of Huxley’s ‘I Want You.’ CD 2 is a more diverse offering, with a couple of tracks from Stacey alongside big hitters from Osunlade, Kevin Saunderson and a subdued raver from Fake Blood to close it out. Stacey Pullen pulls the diverse influences - Afro house, glitchy tech, old school breaks and some disco-wiggles – into two seamless mixes that reward the adventurous listener.

Music News SWIFT CODE Taylor Swift has been hit with a $42million lawsuit after R&B singer Jesse Graham claimed her hit ‘Shake It Off’ ripped off her song, ‘Haters Gone Hate.’ This is the second time Graham has tried to claim compensation from Swift for the track, after initially looking to settle if he could have a ‘selfie’ taken with him. “Her hook is the same hook as mine,” Graham told the NY Daily News. “If I didn’t write the song ‘Haters Gone Hate’, there wouldn’t be a song called ‘Shake It Off’. Our verdict? They’re both shockingly bad, so maybe there is some truth in the matter…
SUNBURN ANNOUNCE GUETTA, GARRIX AND HOLLAPHONIC One of our favourite Indian dance music festivals, Sunburn is back in Goa this December and they’ve booked local hotshots Hollaphonic to play on their main stage. The ‘Lights Down Low’ stars are in good company, as David Guetta and Martin Garrix are the main headliners, while the techno/deep house tent features Seth Troxler, Art Department and Tube & Berger. The event runs from December 27-30 in Vagator, heead to sunburn.in for more info.
THE LEMON JAM RETURNS
After a run of parties earlier this year, Saturday live music party The Lemon Jam returns for a one-off show on December 11 at a secret venue to be announced the day before. And they’ve bagged their biggest headliner yet as they have Middle East star Omar Souleyman playing for them. Once a prodigious wedding singer in his native Syria, he’s become an alternative dance music star in recent years, thanks to collaborations with Caribou and Modeselektor, while Four Tet’s musical genius Kieran Hebden produced his most recent album. A beguiling mix of Syrian music and electronic beats, he’s bridged the gap between East and West and become a big star in his own right. Support comes from local psychedelic outfit Flamingods as well as Kutmah.

DJ Heroes #7 Frederick Stone Next up in our series of DJ Heroes is the Toyroom and Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE resident Fred Stone, who’s been DJing and destroying dancefloors in Dubai for nearly a decade
First club you played in Dubai?
I believe it was Peppermint at the Fairmont back in 2006. When all my records were lost by the airline company...
First track you played?
It was Bob Sinclar, “Save Our Soul.”
Best change in the city’s club scene?
House music is everywhere all night long. The expansion of electronic music is growing strong, with a lot of quality nights to choose from.
Worst change in the city’s club scene?
I don’t see anything wrong. I just think that as long as the intention of pushing the club scene forward is genuine and not driven by profit then we’re all on a good path.
Best club still running from when you started?
I’m gonna have to say 360 but more specifically audio tonic. After all those years, they’re still pushing boundaries.
Key to longevity as a DJ is… Self-evolution. Not towards trends but towards oneself.
The best way to get gigs is… There isn’t a best way or worst.
Connecting with the industry, pushing your own limits, working on your network by publishing good content about your sound. Pushing music that represents who you are. Be passionate about what you do. Get your music out there as much as possible.

Beatport is big business. Get your track into the Top 10, or even the Top 100, and you not only get bragging rights but also rapidly increase your global profile, leading to more work, more remixes and bigger bookings. But how easy is it to buy your way to the top? Infusion went undercover and found out‌
Beatport is the biggest online dance music site for DJs, but you’d be surprised at how little it can take to get into the Top 10, or even into the genre Top 100 charts. 900 sales will get you into the site’s Top 10 on the homepage, just 250 will get you into the Techno Top 10 and 150 will get you into the Top 10 NuDisco chart.
Unfortunately for the honest producer, there are lots of sites out there that will manipulate the charts, and allow you to buy your way into the Top 10, ensuring ready made fame and PR success. After some quick Googling, we approached Info Promo Sound with a very clear mandate – we’d like to buy our way into the charts.
Their reply came back very quickly, and listed out a very professional list of services that they offer including Beatport, Juno and Traxsource.
Look and Listen
• Top 10 main chart – 900 downloads - 4266 Euros (AED17,000) • Electro House main chart – 450 downloads - 2133 (AED 8660) • Deep House main chart – 400 downloads - 1896 Euros (AED 7705)
Using real accounts, they’ll buy up to 700 downloads per week, and between 20-150 downloads a day to get your track up the charts. Importantly, they claim they don’t use any fake accounts or bots, making it hard for Beatport to ban or flag up the sales as irregular. Sergey then sent over an XL sheet detailing the costs and number of downloads needed to get your track into the Top 10. That’s a lot of money to get your track into the Top 10, but consider the benefits – an international DJ will be paid a minimum of AED 8000, so if that extra exposure on Beatport leads to 2 gigs, you’ve made your money back. Plus, the PR benefit of being on the homepage of the biggest dance music online retailer is hard to quantify. We asked Sergey to buy us into the Top 20 of the Deep House chart, which is 270 downloads and 1279 Euros, and all we needed to complete the transaction was to send over the Beatport link that needed boosting, and to desposit the money into his bank account. Sadly, our budget didn’t stretch to thousands of dirhams to complete the transaction, but
in just 5 minutes – and with a lot of money – we discovered how you can buy your way into the Beatport Top 10. Shockingly easy. Beatport for their part are aware of such scams and monitor their charts daily, ‘looking for anomalies. We’ve built and continue to improve upon technology to prevent chart-boosting efforts,’ they said. ‘We’re getting better at it every day. Our next step is to permanently ban the offending artists and labels. There are some very easy and obvious clues that help us spot the scammers. These scammers talk a good game, but they’re really just preying on the desperation of aspiring DJs in order to line their own pockets.’ The internet is a wonderful, wonderful thing and has helped push DJing and dance music into a rave new world. But Facebook fans, Soundcloud followers and Beatport plays and purchases can be easily manipulated and bought, making it easier and easier for aspiring DJs to by-pass the hard work and hard learnt lessons. Who’s doing it, who’s done it? Worringly, we have no idea.

PARLOTONES South African indie band The Parlotones are one of the main draws at this year’s returning Party in the Park on November 13 alongside The Stereophonics My first musical influence was… Paul: Metallica, Slayer, Radiohead, Muse. Kahn: INXS, The Clash. Glen: Bon Jovi, Rancid, Social Distortion, Muse.
Our sound is best described as… Paul: Indie Rock’n’Roll. Kahn: A vintage Pinot Noir. Best piece of advice you’ve received? Neil: Here for a good time, not a long time. Paul: Don´t take it personally. Kahn: Do what you love, love what you do. Glen: Don´t do it! What’s your musical guilty pleasure? Neil: DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Paul: Toy Dolls. Kahn: Andrew Lloyd Webber. Glen: I don´t believe in guilty pleasures. The best band in the world is… Neil: Difficult choice, it depends on the style of the band. I do love James and REM. Paul: Wilco. Kahn: The one I´m in, not because I think we´re the most talented, but because I get to be in it and do what I love. Glen: Rancid. Lamest claim to fame? Neil: Having my face on a meal box. Paul: Appearing on a soap opera. Kahn: Reality TV. Glen: This band.
My musical motto is… Neil: Stick to your own style. Paul: Play what you enjoy. Kahn: Do it because you love playing, not because you´re pursuing fame & fortune. Glen: Keep it simple and honest. Best gig you’ve played? Kahn: Coca Cola Dome, and 2010 the World Cup kick off concert. And the worst? Neil: Standing waiting for a band to finish and then curfew kicks in and we don´t get to perform. Paul: Every show is good and bad in its own way. Kahn: We once played to 1 person at a show in the UK. Glen: There are many. Best lyrics of all time? Neil:“ Step out the front door like a ghost where nobody notices the contrast of white on white.” Paul:“What´s normal in the evening by the morning seems insane.” Kahn:“If I hadn´t seen such riches I could live with being poor.” Glen: “Love is all you need.” Party in the Park feat. DJ BOOTH: CHUCK WONDERLAND
The Movida resident talks us through frogs, Bob Marley and his up-coming collaboration with Pibtull!
One thing you might not know about me is... I’m afraid of frogs, I hate them. My worst ever job was... I was a delivery driver for a sushi company when I was 14 years old. My favorite ever record is... Bob Marley ‘Three Little Birds’ or Donna Summer ‘Last Dance’. Djing is much like... Making everybody happy. Dubai clubbing scene is... Very different to Europe, people don’t really care about the music. I’m really proud of... My family, especially my brother who is now the boss of our family company. What track could you drop in every set? Robin S ‘Show Me Love’ or Michael Calfan ‘Treasured Soul.’ I can’t live without... Music of course, it’s my life. My biggest DJ achievement to date is... My next upcoming track ‘’Shy Birds featuring Pitbull.’’ I think it’s going to be really good. If you could DJ in any decade which would it be... The 80s playing disco, never die baby! If I could go back-to-back with any other DJ it would be... Axwell or Alesso. I’m not a politician but… The government in France is now doing everything wrong, especially for the artists. That’s why all of them live in another country.

NYE CANCELLED AFTER EVERY DJ IN THE WORLD BOOKED TO PLAY DUBAI THIS YEAR
In a move that will send shockwaves through the industry, global party organisers have decided to cancel New Year’s Eve this year after every single DJ in the world was booked to play in Dubai. The names confirmed so far include David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Nervo, Luciano, David Morales, Jazzy Jeff, Pete Tong, Duke Dumont while The Spin understands that Richie Hawtin is set to be announced in the near future. Tiesto was said to be considering retirement after the UAE party capital snubbed him for New Year’s Eve. DJ Sneak went one step further, and called the announcement ‘bullsh*t’ to his ever dwindling Twitter following, telling them that ‘he didn’t want to play there anyway.’ *These stories are not true, this is not a real newspaper. This is a parody/fiction/satire/joke. The Spin is not intended, in any way whatsoever, to be taken as factual.
Eat Sleep Rave Repeat Surf Café Dubai Andy Buchan discovers that the new Jumeirah Beach Road hotspot is just swell A little insider knowledge for you. The DJ’s pre-gig food choice of preference is usually sushi – filling, healthy and super super tasty, it’s our go-to before a night out (and Zaatar if you’re buying on the way back, FYI). Loosely affiliated with the Surf House
on Beach Road, the Surf Café and Sushi Bar occupy a space just around the corner, with the sushi bar downstairs and the café upstairs. The word café is a bit of a misnomer, however. Many of the staff are ex Burj Al Arab, and the food is stunning – our triple decker sushi
starter was a mountain of tuna, salmon and slathers of octopus (which was a new one for me), while the burrata was so soft, creamy and pillowy we’d have happily curled up and taken a nap inside it. With a clean white brick interior and floor-to-ceiling windows, the Café is full of light and space, and can come with an hour waiting time at the weekends for breakfast and lunch. When we visited on a Monday early evening, the venue was starting to fill up and had a fun, relaxed feel, as well as a kid’s play corner which came in handy. For mains, we went with the Chef’s recommendation, and were delivered the tuna ceviche, a tangy, clean and chunky dish that was sharp but not overpowering and came with thin banana crisps.
Next came the seasbass, selected fresh from their icechilled seafood bar where you choose what you eat, how they cook it and your choice of a wide range of sides and sauces. We opted for a grilled Turkish Seabass with a fingerlicking Choron sauce that we treated more as a gloopy drink by the end, it was that good. South Park’s Chef would have been proud of us at the end, as we went for chocolate balls for dessert – more specifically, chocolate fondant centred doughnut balls that literally melted in the mouth. With food and prices on a par with Jones and Tom&Serg, but with the beach a 1 minute stroll away, this is a no brainer for the city’s food-loving sunworshippers. Dear business suits Please allow me to clear up a few things on behalf of the city’s clubbing community. Tables do not – I repeat DO NOT – live on the dancefloor. The dancefloor, is as you might have inferred from the name, a dance floor. If it was an area for tables and ‘VIPs’ it would be called the w*nkers section, which although a fun name, isn’t quite as catchy. If you get greedy – and it’s human nature, so don’t beat yourself up too much – then please try and appreciate the following. If you squeeze a promoter until the point they start bleeding blood, sweat and tears, the symbiotic relationship no longer works. The promoter will leave, you’ll have an empty venue and you’ll crumble and fall. Sure, that’s a worst case scenario, but when you start demanding more and more money from an already saturated events schedule, you lose out, the promoter loses out and the clubber loses out. So, it’s kinda dumb to be honest – work with the promoter, not against them. Peace, love and harmony, and all that. Oh, and if you forget all of this, just remember Ghandi’s (probable) quote – Don’t be a d*ck. Thanks, Dubai’s clubbing community (and a rather irate Monkey) Monkey Out... The Angry Monkeys’ views are his own, and don’t necessarily reflect the views of Infusion Magazine.
