I would firstly like to thank and congratulate everybody on their persistence and hard work that has seen the racing and breeding industries lead the way during arguably the most challenging year of our lives.

The year 2020 will forever be remembered as one where each and every one of you has had to adapt to change at short notice to ensure the survival and strength of your respective businesses.

For vendors to remain positive and continue to produce outstanding quality of horses for sale and to the buyers who embraced the digital sphere of acquiring their stock when necessary, you should all be extremely proud of how you have navigated your way through 2020.

I truly believe that attitude will only enhance the 2021 Inglis Sales Series, that this magazine officially launches.

The Inglis sales are again shaping up as the showcase exhibition of the current crop of yearlings.

Buyers will be presented with an exceptional array of young horses by the world’s most successful proven sires and another exciting crop of first season stallions.

I am grateful for the support of our sales by breeders and vendors, as well as the hard work done by our bloodstock team in pursuit of the best results for each and every one of you throughout the year.

The run of success enjoyed by our clients with graduates of our sales is quite extraordinary, but particularly in recent years.

Since 2018, Inglis auctions have produced more G1-winning graduates, more Australian Group winners, more G1-winning 2YOs, more winners of the $1m-plus races and more G1 winners that could have been bought for $100,000 or less than the next best auction house, despite offering fewer yearlings at public auction each year.

This is a fantastic compliment to our breeders, vendors and preparers who so diligently manage the development of the young horses we are so privileged to offer at auction.

While we all hope the restrictions forced upon many of us this year as a result of Covid-19 will not exist in 2021, the realistic outlook is that some are likely to remain into the future.

But I am confident that at Inglis we have the right processes in place—and the proven track record of 2020—to ensure no border closures or travel restrictions will impact the results of our sales.
