WHAT’S ON AT EASTER

SEBASTIAN HUTCH

The Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale is one of the great events on the global thoroughbred calendar.

Neatly scheduled between Days 1 and 2 of The Championships, it’s a week-long festival of fun, celebrations and, of course, selling the best yearlings prepared by the best horsemen and horsewomen in the Southern Hemisphere.

Easter has long been recognised as The Best of the Best, and for good reason, with 37 G1-winning graduates coming out of the sale since 2018.

Easter is also responsible for five of Australia’s most valuable racehorses currently in Switzerland, Lady Shenandoah, Joliestar, Autumn Glow and Growing Empire.

This year’s renewal is an incredible collection of world-class yearlings which will be offered to a buying bench gathered from around the globe at the world’s best auction auditorium at Riverside Stables on April 6 and 7.

The catalogue is a who’s who of racing stardom – 228 of the 421 catalogued yearlings are either the progeny of Stakes winners or siblings to Stakes winners.

There are siblings to the likes of Switzerland, Growing Empire, Deep Field, Lady Shenandoah, Militarize, She’s Extreme, Ozzmosis, Sunshine In Paris, Wild Ruler, Forbidden Love, Artorius, Autumn Angel, Jameka, I Am Me, Schwarz, Tofane, Super Seth, Zougotcha, Learning To Fly, Profondo and more.

Easter is a chance for the industry’s participants to come together to celebrate the finest yearlings this part of the world produces.

While the two-day sale will be both frenetic and fantastic, there are many other events and activities around the auction that will help create a world-class spectacle at Riverside Stables.

This What’s On booklet aims to provide you with a full array of information of things to do and events and activities to be a part of in the lead-up to and during the Easter Sale.

Horses begin parading at Riverside Stables on Monday March 31, the annual Welcome Drinks will take place from 4.30pm on Thursday April 3 while the Easter Cocktail Party heads back to Bondi Icebergs on Friday April 4.

The Messina ice cream stand is back, significant media will be doing live broadcasts on-site at Riverside Stables, plus Days 1 and 2 of The Championships at Royal Randwick will see the best horses go head-to-head for the biggest spoils either side of the Easter Sale.

There will be the usual range of hospitality options available at Riverside Stables through Ringside Dining, the outdoor Inglis Lawn Café, Heroic Café, Newmarket Room Restaurant, 1867 Lounge, Inglis Day Spa and many others.

I look forward to seeing you all at Riverside for what will be a special week and if you have any questions in the lead-up to or during the sale, please do not hesitate to contact myself or a member of the Inglis team.

Regards, Sebastian
