Take ACTION For A Be琀琀er You - Noeleen Naidoo Welcome to another day of another year. I’d like to say we have 365 days, but truthfully we have today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. I’ll bet you have New Year resolu琀椀ons, goals, plans, dreams and ambi琀椀ons. The op琀椀mist in me wants to tell you that the sky is the limit, everything is possible and you are your only limit. Whilst all of it is true, it’ll take a renewed mind and ACTION. Here are a few thoughts to help us make each day count. A - Available and a琀琀en琀椀ve. Listening to understand is an expression of empathy that leads us to compassion. We become be琀琀er people, more successful in our calling and have a sense of fulfillment when we’re available to listen. “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” – Stephen Covey C - Courage to take the steps towards consistency. Consistency means pushing pass complacency towards our full poten琀椀al to change our world. One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with poten琀椀al. Without courage, we cannot prac琀椀ce any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest. Maya Angelou T - Tenacity is a made up mind. The will to say let’s do it again, let’s persevere inspite of the adversity. To make our way, we must have firm resolve, persistence, tenacity. We must gear ourselves to work hard all the way. We can never let up. Ralph Bunche I - Inten琀椀onal living is a series of small, deliberate decisions that serves and supports us to create our best lives by doing what we can to eliminate distrac琀椀ons. Distrac琀椀ons are a thief of 琀椀me and derail us from our pursuit of achieving our goals. O - Opportuni琀椀es "Every wall is a door." — Ralph Waldo Emerson The moment we begin to find a way, create a path and navigate new territory, we become solu琀椀on minded. Problems become hurdles to cross over and barriers to break. See the opportunity in the problem, meet the need and go beyond the walls of limita琀椀ons. N - never give up "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." —Dale Carnegie Giving up takes no effort. The challenges may be overwhelming and bigger than you. The effort to keep going may take every fiber of your being, all the strength you can muster and every ounce of mental grit. The reward of never giving up is a story we’ll live to tell at the end of everyday; and when a new day breaks, we get to do it again. In this year it is my prayer that we seize the day, take ACTION and live every day like it’s the only day. BEING WELL | JANUARY
