Although this time of the year is celebrated by many people around the world for different reasons, for those who believe that Jesus came to save you and me, it takes us back to when the events at Easter all began...
Sort of like our current circumstances world wide, it was so just over 2000 years ago. Around this time of the year, weeks before Jesus would sacrifice himself on the cross on our behalf, the nation's around Jerusalem were insecure, unstable and lost. They lost hope and direction for the future. Most lived in fear and poverty, watching things falling apart around them. On Easter Friday, even the few who knew Jesus were shattered in what they thought was the end, and they thought all they were counting on was lost.
But it was not the end. It was a new beginning. It's just that they could not see it yet. It was a total victory that continues till this very day. On Easter Sunday Jesus proved his victory and his love for us all. And he shared the many spoils of his victory with all. He came to show us that we have already won and we are always blessed. That no matter how difficult situations are, light, hope and overwhelming joy await us on Sunday. It's something we don't need to repay, it's free!
So this Easter spread the word that there are things to look forward to. Tell someone not to give up on Friday because Sunday is coming. Be generous by giving and receiving some love and time with those around you this Easter, no matter their shape, colour or circumstance. Easter is a time to celebrate like winners!
