Our goal was to use parametric design approach and generate a complex shape for the Vortex Lamp. Parametric design systems are based on algorithmic principles. The parameters can be optional during the design process. VORTEX lamp was generated algorithmically using vortex pattern and sectioning technique as the optimum design solution for the lamp. Diverse and unexpected results gave us an opportunity to evaluate the output models and pick up the most appropriate shape. Fabrication process of the model prototype is an essential part of the digital design process. The final physical model match 100% the initial virtual prototype. It allows us to obtain an understanding how the sectioned-panels and light work in physical environment. The final shape of the VORTEX lamp is the product of a modern technology and exquisite aesthetics.

Concept idea
Two conditions of one substance -“water” — a perfect inspiration for a lamp form. A harmony of water waves and vortex forms is an initial impetus for the process of form-finding.
