Influenced heavily by the architecture of her surroundings, ceramicist Roberta Massuch creates functional pottery, sculpture, and 2D artworks. Massuch received her BFA in ceramics from Northern Illinois University and her MFA from Louisiana State University. She has participated in residencies at The Clay Studio, Northern Clay Center (Minneapolis, MN), and Arquetopia Foundation (Puebla, MX). Her work has been exhibited at universities, institutions, galleries, and museums across the United States. Making objects by hand is what drives her practice. She initiates a meditation on the act of making and forms relationships between the work and people who use / view them. Born and raised in Greece, Demetra Tassiou received her Bachelor Arts Degree at the University of Athens, and her Masters in Printmaking at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, she has exhibited at group and solo shows including academic institutions, private collections, galleries, and museums including UPENN’s Meyerson Hall and Municipal Art Museum of Thessaloniki (Greece). The themes of her artwork are her imaginative reconnections with nature, the sea, and the colorful environments that she has yearned for after moving from the Mediterranean landscapes to large, urban, American cities.

Demetra Tassiou I have a dream, 2021 Acrylic on woodpanel 40 x 36 x 2” $1,000 *inspired by the poem by Lola Ridge (1873-1941)
The Dream by Lola Ridge I have a dream to fill the golden sheath of a remembered day…. (Air heavy and massed and blue as the vapor of opium… domes fired in sulphurous mist… sea quiescent as a gray seal… and the emerging sun spurting up gold over Sydney, smoke-pale, rising out of the bay….) But the day is an up-turned cup and its sun a junk of red iron guttering in sluggish-green water – where shall I pour my dream?
