2011TAUROMAQUIA
Inma Fierro shows through this exhibition, and after intense months of study, research and analysis, her ÓPERA PRIMA: TAUROMAQUIAS (The art of bullfighting), a reconciliation, after wandering around Spain, Italy and Germany, with her Andalusian traditions and heritage. Paintings of large format, small panels and sketches, exhibit three main themes: the Bull, the Bullfighter and the Art of Bulfighting. She recovers the tradition, deepening in the roots. Her paintings face up to life, the drama, the thoroughbred , the scenic spectacle , the tragedy… She presents a collection where Intelligence and Nature are face to face. Ochre-coloured, white and red –reminiscent of the southern light and colour- applied with large brush stokes full of strength, give power to the works of arts, especially when the black colour bursts in them, like a mass, providing strength and solemnly to them. Violent traces, quick, free, with certain accidental air, almost unfinished, they merge to show remnant of what it was for Lorca “the most cultured festival in the world”. Medium and large canvas reveal, after an arduous work of summary, works of art where the symbolic painting stands out the icon. As huge/big artists of the abstract expressionism did before, the superposition of lines star in the canvas. The tridimensionality, as a pictorial trick, has stopped existing. The stains dominate, their plastic character acquires importance, they merge and superimpose. The paint is treated in a visceral way: is rubbed, scratched, it acquires volume, it leaves it to drip... It shows diverse textures that provide the works of art of great dynamism. The influence of the painting of artists such as Willem de Kooning or José Guerrero, both nationalised in the United States, is clear in the style of Fierro. She gets inside the abstraction, the action painting –of great expressive strength- which responded to the anguish and convulsion of the society in which it emerged (second half of the XX century), due to her personality and the controversy of the treated theme. Symbols of the bullfighting culture, small details, certain poetic sentences, tears... show a living chronicle where the lines shade off to give way to a new form of conceived stories of bulls.
