Around the world in one month Around the world in ONE month. Yes, you read that right! This is what 2019 brought me: a tour that took me from Romania around the world: Bucharest, Doha, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, LA, Miami, Barcelona, Madrid and back to Bucharest. It was a blast!

I’m grateful for all “the firsts” I experienced and having the opportunity to travel to a new and beautiful place with my best friend Anca is definitely something amazing that I will cherish! What surprised me the most was the fact that people recognised me all the time. On the street, at the beach, in the airport. I never had a concert in Australia, in all my 10 years of career, so I didn’t really expect this. Even though I knew from my fans that they hear my music all the time at the gym, in stores or clubs!

... Just one black cloud in this story: JET LAG. But staying up at night, walking in the parks, searching for cool places made the jet lag seem nice! :)

It was my first time travelling to Australia (which was on my wishlist and I was dying to visit it) and the first time I got to see kangaroos. We saw them on our taxi ride to the hotel after landing in Melbourne. I had an amazing time there and the show was super FUN!

In Tokyo we went searching for cool and strange cosmetic products and we ate sushi with our friend Ivan who was living there at the time. We stayed in Tokyo for one extra day, just to recover. The jet lag was so bad that we decided to change our tickets.

I loved Sydney! Amazing city. The people, the energy and Bondi Beach. Such beautiful memories!

After Australia, we continued our tour with promo in LA, Miami, Barcelona and Madrid.

Forever summer girl And now, let me tell you the story behind the coverstory of this first issue of INNAMag. I called my friend Edward Aninaru who lives in LA and told him about my idea of INNAMag. I knew he would like it and he would accept to get involved, even if his schedule was hectic and he is always busy. I love taking pictures, I love photo shoots and I love working with Edy! I’ve known him since the beginning of my career and he’s like part of the family, a very creative and fun guy. We were staying at a friend’s house in Miami and decided to have the shooting there. The whole thing was a lot of fun. It only took us 3 hours to shoot. Anca did my makeup in just 20 min! The concept of the photo shoot was “water sports” (like paddling and surfing). The reason is simple: I love watersports! You know me, forever summer girl! The location was close-by and we went there by boat and jet-ski. Hope you love the photos and feel the Miami vibe!

:: EXCLUSIVE

Behind the scenes at Premios Lo Nuestro I was in Miami for Premios Lo Nuestro, one of the biggest latin events of the year and I was very excited to attend it for the first time! It was a great experience. I was invited there to give the award for “Revelación del año” (Revelation of the Year). I had a great time meeting friends and artists like J Balvin and Daddy Yankee and seeing them perform. One of my favorite moments was Mana’s. They have great energy, I could feel all the people there enjoying it and reacting to it in such an amazing way. That’s why they are icons! The public just loves them. One fun fact about this experience was related to my outfit. The pants arrived in Miami 2 days before the awards and they were HUGE. I panicked since I didn’t want to wear anything else.What to do? I didn’t know a tailor in Miami and I was nervous that even if I found someone, he/she will not be able to do it right. My friend Cris recommended me one. He was a nice Cuban guy, also a fan of my music and even came to the house to help me! As it turned out, he was really good

at sewing and, after letting him do his job, the pants were a perfect fit! I was nervous but as always, I met the right people and everything turned out perfectly. And in order to have a perfect month, I worked in the studio with talented, creative people, cooked some music that I cannot wait to share with you!

I LOVE

ROMANIA!

Every time I have some free days and I am at home, I

love to spend time with my family, my friends, my team from Global Records and of course, to travel!

I love my country! I really do! And if you’re a true club rocker, you must have heard me several times talking with love, respect and admiration about my beautiful Romania! 12 // INNAMag

:: TRAVEL

Sinaia is one my favorite cities in Romania, it is full of beautiful places, amazing houses, history. I always go back for some moments of silence, relaxation, amazing views and...good Romanian food. If you visit Romania and go to Sinaia, you must definitely have to visit Peleș Castle, Pelișor Castle, Sinaia Monastery, Sinaia Casino, Stâna Regală Challet, George Enescu’s memorial house (one of Romania’s greatest artists and musicians). Peleș Castle is by far one of the most beautiful, special places to visit. It used to be King Michael’s home and was built by King Carol I. I also love going back to the seaside in Romania and visiting my hometown Neptun. A lot of memories and familiar places that bring back so many stories to my mind. And close to the seaside, there is a beautiful, unusual, surreal place called Delta Dunării. It’s so magical that it made me fall in love with it and explore it every time I can. Because I appreciate it and want to keep it just as it is, I decided to become the Ambassador of Danube Delta for the campaign that WWF Romania initiated - “Colors in extinction”. You can also support this cause by adopting its colors by checking out their website www.culoripecalededisparitie.ro and stay tuned for more information from me soon!

What I also love to do is touring in Romania, meeting with my Romanian fans and spreading joy! Touring just got better because I now travel with a camper van. My friends from haff.ro have the best camper vans, so each trip to my Romanian shows got better. Actually...no, not better! Ah-ma-zing! You should definitely book a van and discover Romania! If you are from Romania, hope I’ll meet you on the road and at my shows to dance, laugh, sing and have the best time of our lives! And if you are not from Romania, I hope some day you will add my country to your wishlist! With love,

INNA, Your Romanian Friend

:: CSR CAMPAIGN

Your blood can save lives!

It’s really important to be empathic, to help others and to understand how small gestures and actions can change someone’s life. I found out about Red Cross’s campaign in Romania “Give Blood Constantly” and I accepted to join it on the spot, without asking too many questions, because I really think we should all get involved and support it, donate and save lives together! Did you know that by simply donating blood, three people can be saved and that, at every 3 seconds, a Romanian has to receive blood? Unfortunately, less than 2% of Romanian people donate, while in Europe, the percentage is up to 6%. >>> www.crucearosie.ro

:: BOOK RECOMMENDATION

What’s your latest book addiction?

I’m a big supporter of Let’s Do It, Romania! campaign from the very beginning, from their first year. I admired their brave idea, to cleanup Romania in just a single day, because we have a beautiful country and we need to get rid of the garbage that suffocates it and also, to make Romanian people more aware of their responsability to get involved and to respect nature. When I heard they will release a book about their story and their activity during the past 10 years, I was happy to be there at the release event and feel their emotions, in this important moment. THE MAN BEHIND T H E P H OT O S E XC LU S I V E I N T E RV I E W W I T H E DWA R D A N I N A R U When did you first meet INNA and how was it?

Who are some of the most important people you have worked with in LA?

I first met INNA 10-11 years ago at a fitting prepping up for our first photo shoot. I remember that at the shoot we were just 5 guys trying to take care of every aspect. We did a great job and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

For my portfolio, with no doubt, the A list celebrities are Celine Dion, INNA or Jay Sean.

What’s your favorite shooting you had with INNA?

Every time we are working or hanging out, we have a great time. We like hanging out on the beach or riding bicycles, but I can say we have fun even when we’re shooting. We’ve known each other for such a long time and we’ve shared many amazing experiences together.

It’s kinda hard to decide what’s your favorite “child”, but I can say that we did some amazing projects together. Even though my photography style has changed over the years, I still have deep feelings for our first projects. One of the most memorable and controversial shoots that we did is that one with INNA with those beautiful sexy girls having a dinner in style with tons of milk and that pork head.

What's it like to be a photographer in LA? I really love living in LA, there are so many beautiful locations to shoot close by and there’s a lot of opportunities here. If you want to advance in your career, you have to be in a major city.

What was it like to experience LA alongside INNA?

What is your favorite location where you had a shooting in America? There are so many amazing locations to shoot that it’s so hard to decide. I love shooting out in the desert when the sun is coming up and I love shooting in Malibu on the beach when the sun is setting.

What is one piece of advice you would give to your 30 year old self? I would tell myself to get a camera and start studying photography. The sooner you get started, the better! The best way to learn is from direct experience shooting.

:: INTERVIEW How do you feel working with international artists? I’m feeling blessed! :) Jokes aside now, I’m happy and proud of what I’m doing and the talented people I get to work with. It’s the best thing! I was dreaming to do what I love and make a living out of it.

What was your career path? How did you get from being an aspiring photographer to actually doing it full time and working with artists? Everything started with some online photography contests which I participated in. The prizes were photo equipment and this is how I started. One of my good friends was in the music industry and I had asked him if I can shoot any of the bands that he managed at that time. After I took the pictures, Roton label saw them and asked me for a meeting and they offered me a contract to shoot their artists. The second artist that I shot for them was INNA. And this is how it all began...

How do you educate yourself to take better pictures? Studying, watching movies, workshops, following other photographers that I admire and reading books. It’s a perpetual learning process.

Whose work has influenced you the most? I can’t say who’s influenced me the most... as I said there are so many artists that I admire. But I can mention some of my favorites as Steven Klein, Steven Meisel or Helmut Newton.

What is the one thing that you wish you knew when you started taking photos? I wish I knew more about the importance of light and especially using natural light. I’ve learned over time that you don’t need to have tons of lights and equipment to take a good picture.. it’s more about using what you’ve got and finding the right light.

Tell us the story behind your favorite picture? I don’t have a favorite picture, but I do have a lot of great stories. Recently I shot a cover for a magazine. The story behind this image is very interesting because I shot it in my neighborhood a few blocks from my house in the most ordinary place, but because of scouting and preparation, it came out very good, looking like it was shot in a high end location with a full crew. It was a good example of how you don’t need all the fancy gear, it’s more about the vision.

What advice would you give to an amateur photographer wanting to change their passion into a full-time profession? My advice would be to take pictures, to study, to watch other photographers that you admire and learn from them. And the most important: learn about the light and keep your eyes trained.

What are some favorite things about being a photographer? What are some challenges you’ve encountered? Every day I get to do what I love, I get to travel, see new places and meet amazing people. My work is a continuous challenge, difficulties come and go when you work with people, but in the end, I consider myself a very lucky person.

How has photography influenced you as a person? Getting to travel and work with all kinds of people influenced my way of seeing the world around me. It educated me and gave me a different perspective on the world.

What concept would you like to try next with INNA? I have some really cool concepts in mind that we didn’t have time to shoot yet, but I hope we will soon! One of them is to be done in Romania, so maybe next time I will be home, we can get it done!

My music on cans. On COCA-COLA Zero Sugar cans Music is part of my life, of who I am: it makes me happy, it’s with me everywhere, it’s a dream come true, it’s my way of telling stories and expressing feelings. As some of you know, the past two years have been an ongoing work in the studio for an album so close to my heart and very important to my music journey: “YO”. I have worked with David Ciente, the music producer of “YO” in studios around the world: Los Angeles, London, Bucharest, Oradea, Barcelona. But before “YO” album was out, I got a great and unbelievable special project proposal from Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and my first reaction was “OMG, I definitely want to do it”. The idea was to have an album released exclusively on Coca-Cola Zero Sugar cans! How cool and crazy is that? We started doing the photo shoot for the album, we sent the music to Shazam and we had the 6 pack cans with my songs on them. The songs could be scanned in order to be listened to. When I first saw it, I was soooo excited. By scanning the cans, you could listen to “La Vida”, “Iguana”, “Si, Mama” and “Locura”. I am really grateful that I was the first one to have an album released exclusively on Coca-Cola Zero Sugar cans and I hope at least some of you have this album at home!

How to do INNA’s make-up by Anca Buldur @ancapuffpuff

Apply a matte brown eyeshadow on the lash line, in the shape of an eyeliner! The idea is to draw a straight line, but thicker and curvier at the end to create the cat eye look! You have to do it looking straight ahead to see exactly what the line will look. For a more intense look, I add black eyeshadow at the base of the lash line, blending it in with the brown eyeshadow! You can also use eyepencils to create this look, but you have to blend them and set them with eyeshadow so that it will last all day long!

I N N A I N T E R V I E W I N G A N T O N I A

What would be a good theme song for your life? The soundtrack from “Game of Thrones”. Because life is like a battlefield. :)

What’s your most annoying habit? Playing with my hair!

What would you like to be remembered for? Besides my music, I would like to actually be remembered for my positivity, me helping others and my charisma.

What’s your favorite cheat meal? My favorite cheat meal is everything junk food!

What’s your next travel destination and why? I actually haven’t had any time to think about any vacation lately, because I’ve been so busy, but my next travel destination I would like for it to be Dubai. I love Dubai!

36 // INNAMag

Since I’m interested in this subject and it’s very sensitive, can you please tell me if you were bullied as a kid? It’s actually funny that you ask me this, because I remember basically being bullied by the girls who were mean and rude. I found things written about me on bathroom stalls and they had a book in highschool (I forgot the name of this book) where they had categories about people and I was under one of these categories and they were very, very mean. So, I kind of think this a form of being bullied.They would call my house with a private number and threaten to beat me up. It was horrible! I remembered they used to call me and be like: “just because you have green eyes doesn’t mean you are the most beautiful girl, ok?”

:: SPECIAL GUEST

How would you describe yourself in 5 words? Funny, sensitive, caring, friendly, romantic.

What makes you smile and what scares you the most?

Photo Stefan Dani

This is kind of a hard question, because I have two things that make me smile: 1. obviously my children, they are everything to me and 2. my other half, my man. He is the first one to always make me smile if I have a bad day, if I’m sad, if I’m angry. He really teaches me how to be a better person, how to calm down and think positive. What scares me the most is being alone or losing somebody in my family.

What is your strength and what’s your weakness? My strength is definitely my family and my man, they are my everything, they are my support system! My weakness is probably sad things, I empathize a lot, I feel bad for almost everything that happens that’s sad. Even in the movies where the stories are not real, I cry so easily. My other weaknesse are ice cream, candy!

What’s your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure is eating French fries and candy and all types of good fattening stuff.

Your favorite city or place to visit in Romania and why? It’s not a city, it’s a part of the country and it’s Maramureș. I went there a couple of months ago because I sang and I discovered a whole different side of Romania that amazed me. It’s so so beautiful. We definitely have a beautiful country!

What’s on your bucket list? I want to go on vacation with all three of my children, I haven’t done that yet! I want to feed a baby tiger, I want to give him milk from a bottle! I’ve always wanted to do that, I see it everywhere! I think it’s so cute!

What do you love to do in your free time? First of all, I like to sleep, because I don’t really get a lot of sleep. So, that’s my first thing I want to do in my free time. Then, watch movies on Netflix and just be lazy, all freaking day!

What should every woman try at least once in her life? I think every woman at one point of their life should try getting a makeover, just changing her and refreshing herself. I think it’s very important to maintain yourself and take care of yourself and always be a better version of yourself.

And the last one: tell me something I don’t know about you! I love asparagus! Like, I could eat it all day, everyday! It’s my favorite!

:: BEAUTIFUL LIFE

INNA recommends 1.Travelling destination in Romania: Viscri. I just came back from Viscri and it made me fall in love with its beauty, simplicity, warm people, amazing food, nice stories and authentic places. You should definitely add it to your wishlist! 2.Travelling destination around the world: Barcelona! You probably knew the answer! :) It’s my second home, one of my favorite cities in the entire world! It’s sunny, happy, positive, I can walk all day long on its beautiful streets and feel the energy! I’m always in the mood for a few hours on the beach, relaxing, a bike ride, a nice dinner in one of the restaurants I always come back to: Vinitus or a beer at Nevermind. 3. Get a scooter and explore the city, go from a place to another in an easy, eco-friendly way! 4. Every once in a while, do something for the first time! Travel by yourself, go to a place you’ve never been before, try an unusual dish! 5. Spend time with your family as much as you can!
