Swimming Club

We have a Swimming Club at The Hurst Pool running from January. These swimming sessions focus on coaching technique. We participate in swimming galas against other schools and have swimmers who compete in local and annual borough events. Our aim is to keep pupils involved in swimming to help improve every stroke, and also to develop the enjoyment of a life skill.

Football Club

This session provides the opportunity for girls in Years 3 and 4 to be introduced, in a friendly, supportive environment, to the sport of football. The focus of the club is ensuring that the pupils who participate enjoy the game, irrespective of their ability, and are given the chance to develop their coordination and basic skills at their own pace through the playing of a wide range of fun, football-related games. This club is the perfect way to help with increasing the girls’ confidence that football can be a sport for them to participate in, both inside and outside the school environment.

Residential Trips

We believe that residential trips away form a vital part of the girls’ personal and social development. Girls have the opportunity to build on their independence and self-confidence, strengthen friendships and take on challenges that they may have once thought beyond them.

In Year 3, the girls go away for a one-night trip to Thames Young Mariners (approximately £150). In Year 4, they go further afield for a two-night trip to Hooke Court in Dorset (approximately £250). Year 5 girls also go to Dorset, but for three nights in the coastal town of Swanage (approximately £360). Finally, in Year 6 they visit the UK Sailing Academy (UKSA) in Cowes, Isle of Wight. The girls will take part in a variety of watersports, including dinghy sailing, keelboating, stand up paddleboarding, windsurfing and kayaking (approximately £550). All the girls come back from each trip with treasured memories that can last a lifetime!
