The innoLAE 2019 programme includes:

3 Keynote speakers

2 Conference Workshops

We are delighted to announce three fantastic keynote speakers who will be sharing their vision, expertise and work with delegates during the plenary sessions.

Professor Karl Leo, Dresden Integrated Center for Applied Physics and Photonic Materials (IAPP) An award-winning pioneer in the field of organic semiconductors, Prof. Leo is professor of optoelectronics at the Technische Universität Dresden, Director of the Dresden Integrated Center for Applied Physics and Photonics (IAPP), and co-founder of companies, including Novaled GmbH and Heliatek GmbH. His keynote address will cover his work on novel, high-performance organic transistor structures, delivering high current densities and new record transit frequencies.

Large Area Electronics and the Circular Economy

Speakers and Panelists include:

The keynote presentation by Marco Meloni will introduce the circular economy and set the scene for the circular economy workshop. The workshop will provide attendees the chance to explore the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy for LAE research and business. Expert input from Veolia, a leading player in the waste management industry, will lead into presentations from LAE researchers and industrial communities engaged in emerging research and industry initiatives in the field. A concluding panel discussion will address key issues raised and questions from the audience.

Dr Janos Veres Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) Dr Veres is an entrepreneurial technologist leading PARC’s Novel and Printed Electronics Program. He is an author on over 30 patents, and has has held R&D, manufacturing and management positions in corporate and startup technology firms such as PolyPhotonix, Eastman Kodak, Merck, Avecia, Veneca and Gestetner Byfleet, His keynote address will discuss the need for electronics to go beyond mass production and begin to address unique, customized devices that are made on-demand and demonstrate that printing is an enabler for mass customization of electronics, for an IOT with smart things that fuse form and function in new ways

Mr Marco Meloni Ellen MacArthur Foundation Marco is a Research Analyst in the Insights and Analysis team of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, working to provide evidence of the economic, environmental and societal benefits that a circular economy transition could deliver. He has worked on a wide range of topics since joining the Foundation, ranging from applying the circular economy concept to the food system, to exploring design strategies and a vision for consumer electronics. His keynote address will introduce the circular economy, explaining the challenges and opportunities it presents to researchers and industry.

Science, Technology and Commercialisation of Electronic Textiles This e-textiles workshop will focus on the evolution of electronic textiles for wearable applications – an ideal session for researchers and innovators interested in the fields of stretchable and wearable electronics, healthcare and biosensing applications, functional fibres and smart textiles in general. The presence of both academics and commercial companies active in the technology will facilitate productive crossdisciplinary debate and steer the direction of this rapidly evolving field towards industrially relevant LAE applications, targeting markets which have most to benefit from this new technology - such as wellbeing, sports and healthcare.
