MEGA TRENDS Digital Identity and Inclusion One of the world’s biggest challenges to social and financial inclusion is proof of identity. Can FinTech innovations solve this crisis? This session explores the latest technologies helping to provide, record and securely share digital identity – and the ways that governments and charities can work together with FinTech firms to collaborate and address the digital identity challenge head on.

Connected FinTech Cities Increasing levels of regulation and more challenging regulatory expectations are having significant operational impacts on firms and regulators requiring process and technology based solutions. As the FinTech sector continues to develop, having the right environment to test, trial and scale innovative ideas is essential to maintain momentum. Industry and regulatory sandboxes have become increasingly popular mediums to address this challenge, but how will it sustain the sector’s progression and provide much needed regulatory support?

Brexit: The FinTech Blueprint What is the future of FinTech post-Brexit? The repercussions of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union are likely to produce some of the most challenging times for the sector. From safeguarding passporting rights to attracting global talent, FinTech must be prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of a post-Brexit world. IFGS 2017 will explore how the sector will achieve this goal.

RegTech: 21st Century Regulation Increasing levels of regulation and more challenging regulatory expectations are having significant operational impacts on firms and regulators requiring process and technology based solutions.

AGENDA THEMES AI AND FINTECH Artificial intelligence is becoming a powerful tool to enable financial institutions to analyse data about individual behaviour and to deliver a customised view about consumers in a way that’s never been possible before. What will the future of AI look like and how will it help institutions automate everything from trade processing to KYC and AML?

BLOCKCHAIN Blockchain has taken the world by storm, promising to deliver a new kind of trust to a wide range of services. Have we made a breakthrough or is it all hype? How can the industry work together to overcome certain challenges including regulatory uncertainty, integration concerns and issues surrounding control and security?

£

CHALLENGER BANKS

While traditional banks aspire to develop propositions which cater to the new-age ‘millennial’ customers, challenger banks have a real opportunity to resolve account switching inertia by delivering a strong customer engagement and building trusted and attractive brands. How are FinTech firms supporting the government’s focus on improving competition in the current accounts market and can the unprecedented wave of new market entrants survive for long?

DIGITAL CURRENCIES Bitcoin and other digital currencies have emerged as potential disruptors to the financial system. Their ability to transfer funds instantly and securely gives them the potential to expand international commerce and support financial inclusion. However, volatility, security, governance and regulatory issues still represent significant barriers to adoption. How can we overcome these challenges and which players are helping to pave the way for greater adoption of digital currencies?

16

ALTERNATIVE LENDING Alternative lending has long been a success story of FinTech innovation. But as new players enter the market and established FinTech lenders run into greater obstacles, how can these non-banking companies continue to provide the capital and funds needed? What will the next generation of alternative finance innovation look like?

CAPITAL MARKETS Tough regulatory and compliance requirements coupled with pressure from customers has led to rising costs, forcing banks to rethink their business processes and operational models. As a result, firms are more willing than ever to turn to FinTech startups for new technology to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Which innovations are leading the way in transforming the future performance of capital markets?

CYBER SECURITY Cybercrime continues to grow in size and complexity, with financial services among the most targeted sectors in the world. It a booming industry – both for the people committing the crimes and the companies seeking to stop it. But in a highly connected, digital world, can we ever get one step ahead of the cybercriminals? What do the latest crop of FinTech firms offer that’s different to mainstream malware specialists and how are they helping to protect businesses and consumers from attack?

DIVERSITY Diversity makes good business sense and is vital for the future of the FinTech sector. It helps companies of all sizes to compete more effectively in a global world and attract more customers by creating products and services that better address the real needs of different people. How can we build a new financial workforce that reflects the diverse society we live in and can new innovations help us to make better hiring decisions?

Innovate Finance Global Summit 2017

FINANCIAL INCLUSION An estimated 2 billion people around the world are unbanked. Traditional financial services providers and FinTech entrepreneurs have the opportunity to leverage technology to develop products addressing the needs of the financially excluded. Which innovations are making an impact across the world and helping businesses to make a profit too?

INSURETECH Smart devices, from wearables to home sensors and vehicle telematics, are expanding our insight and control over the physical world, promising to transform the insurance industry forever. How will data allow insurers to refine risk and redefine their products, and ultimately revolutionise customer relations?

REGTECH Increasing levels of regulation and more challenging regulatory expectations are having significant operational impacts on firms requiring people, process and technology based solutions. How are startups filling this gap and what are the innovations to watch?

GLOBAL FINTECH ECOSYSTEM What are the challenges to building a strong FinTech ecosystem? Creating the right balance between technological innovation, progressive regulation, investor relations and traditional financial institutions is becoming increasingly complex. As FinTech continues to expand globally how can we achieve greater engagement across the global FinTech community?

PAYMENTS Payments are moving from the domain of banks to next generation FinTech platforms. Mobile connectivity in particular is helping to revolutionise cross-border payments, stripping out costs, time and complexity, and giving more consumers the opportunity to pay for goods and services, even if they don’t have banking account. How will payments keep up in the digital world and which innovations will have the biggest impact on this sector?

REGULATION AND POLICY Having a proactive regulatory environment for FinTech is a critical component in developing a thriving ecosystem. How will consumers save, lend and invest their money in the future and what can we do to ensure market integrity - a key challenge for regulators across the world?

ROBO ADVISOR Robo advisors are growing rapidly by making investing easy, inexpensive, and interactive for consumers. These firms take the pain and uncertainty out of investing by constructing a portfolio, investing in ETFs, rebalancing, reinvesting dividends and harvesting tax losses. But are automated investment services a niche that appeals only to millennials or will it overtake mainstream investment and give traditional advisors a run for their money? How can we benchmark their performance and protect consumers?
