Innovate Finance is an independent membership association that represents the UK’s global FinTech community. Founded in 2014 with the support of the City of London and Canary Wharf Group, Innovate Finance is a not-for-profit that aims to accelerate the country’s leading position in the global financial services sector by directly supporting the next era of technology-led financial services innovators, whether they be a young startup or an established industry player. This is achieved through curated programmes based on member requirements, policy working groups and promotion through global press and social media.

The goal is to create a single point of access across the sectors to help foster enabling policies, regulation, talent development, business growth opportunities and investment in the UK - and, most importantly, to create a global finance sector that offers services that are more sustainable, more inclusive and better for everyone. Innovate Finance currently has more than 250 global members ranging from seed start-ups and technology firms to global financial institutions and professional services firms. Innovate Finance serves its members’ interests by engaging in political and legislative lobby, attracting investment capital, and “telling the FinTech story” to the world. It is the largest single gateway and network for the global FinTech community. In 2016 Innovate Finance, in partnership with Innotribe, SWIFT’s innovation arm, announced the launch of the Global FinTech Hubs Federation (GFHF) to help foster innovation across the world’s financial services industry. As an independent and inclusive global network of FinTech hubs, GFHF aims to fulfil the need within the international FinTech community to create a cross border and open platform that brings together emerging and established hubs.

Round up Report

IFGS 2017 SUMMARY FinTech innovators and leaders from across the world were brought together for the annual Innovate Finance Global Summit on the 10th - 11th April. In the historic setting of the Guildhall in London, the summit convened for two days and explored the opportunities, challenges and future of the FinTech sector, not just in the UK but globally. Over 2000 delegates attended across the two days, with 40% at a c-suite, board or partner level. Day one played host to keynotes, spotlights, panel sessions and fireside chats in the Great Hall and Livery Hall. A dedicated Exhibitor Pavilion highlighted over 100 Innovate Finance members and industry organisations, providing unrivalled networking opportunities. Roundtables and workshops by world renowned programme partners took place around the venue addressing themes such as financial regulation, sandboxes and financial inclusion. We were delighted to welcome Sir Tim Berners-Lee as this year’s headline speaker. He engaged in a fireside chat with Innovate Finance Chairman Alastair Lukies on FinTech, the impact of the World WideWeb on society, innovation and what the future might hold. Day two was dedicated to the startups and organisations shaping the future of FinTech. The inaugural Pitch360 competition attracted over 1000 delegates on the day and showcased 24 FinTech startups across eight verticals. Breakout sessions, office hours and fringe events were hosted throughout the day and spread the FinTech conversation across London’s Square Mile. IFGS 2017 truly was a festival of FinTech, convening global FinTech hubs, startups, regulators, investors, industry organisations, financial institutions, global media outlets and tech giants to the home of FinTech: London.
