The Spring collection draws inspiration from the art of sculpture, exploring the beauty of raw material and using one’s hands to inject life into surfaces. Ancient craft techniques come together to form stunning new patterns layered with color and texture, expressing the unique nature of each material.

Material carefully assembled by hand is incorporated throughout the collection, giving each wallcovering a truly one of a kind feel that adds depth and dimension to the surface of any room, like a work of art carefully sculpted for the wall.

We reinterpret traditional wall finishes like plastering and techniques such as tiling and paneling in new ways, adding in a softer touch, a painter’s brushstroke, or a hint of metallic shine, further exploring the relationship between material and hand.

The 11 wallcoverings in this collection work together to add new possibilities in layers and form on the wall.

FERGHANA

The circular pattern of Ferghana is printed on a white cellulose substrate that gently absorbs the ink and allows the colors to blend like watercolor paint, recreating the unique “blurred” look of an ikat textile with layers of dyed yarn. This natural woven wallcovering is accented with metallic yarn that adds depth and a hint of shine to the stunning pattern, making a beautiful statement in any space.

INSIEME

Ancient craft techniques like papier-mâché and hand-dyeing are used to create Insieme, a stunning one-of-a-kind wallcovering uniquely assembled by hand to create rich 3-dimensional texture. Cotton yarn is dyed by hand and then stretched over a wooden frame in an abstract geometric pattern, then immersed in a solution of cellulose pulp and sun-dried before being layered over a textural mica backing with a subtle sheen. This unique blend of techniques explores new possibilities in craft and adds an elegant textural look to any interior.

THE MAKING OF INSIEME

The rich, 3-dimensional texture of Insieme is assembled by hand from dyed cotton yarn in an abstract pattern layered over a mica backing, creating stunning, sculptural layers of material. The cotton yarn is stretched over a wooden frame in a geometric pattern and immersed and sun-dried before being glued to the textured backing, in a technique that borrows from traditional papier-mâché.

IBERIAN STRIPE

Iberian Stripe features a vertical stripe pattern crafted of hand cut strips of cork applied to a metallic foil backing, allowing it to shine through in hues of gold, silver or copper. Large sheets of cork that have been individually dyed and printed with a thin vertical stripe are cut into strips and meticulously adhered by hand to the foil backing by a master craftsperson.

THE MAKING OF IBERIAN STRIPE

Large sheets of cork are individually dyed in hues ranging from soft ivory to rich navy and cut into thin bands. A vertical stripe pattern is formed as the cork bands are carefully placed by hand and layered over a foil backing.

A new twist on traditional tiling. Gemma shines on the wall with diamond shaped textile pieces that are individually cut and pasted by hand to a backing and layered in a herringbone pattern. The pieces are assembled in varying directions that reflect light differently depending on the angle of the light source. The herringbone style contributes to the illusion the pattern creates on the wall when installed. This unique play on texture and direction gives Gemma a jewel-like appearance.
