The British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Qualification in Occupational Testing Ability & Personality The BPS qualification is internationally recognised as the ‘gold standard’ certification, demanding the best practice in the use of psychometrics, and is suitable for those involved in selection, development or any other application where psychometrics are useful. Duration: This is a 4 day course. The course comprises of 10 hours pre-reading to be completed prior to the course, 4 days workshop combined with daily homework, two open book exams and a post-course case study (a total of 10 hours post-course work), which must be written up and submitted for marking before certification is released. Designed for: HR Professionals, including both recruiters and talent developers, and Line Managers who seek effective solutions to address assessment and development within their organisations. Objectives: • Gain a critical appreciation of how psychometrics are used in recruitment, selection and development. • Become qualified in BPS Qualification in Occupational Testing (Ability & Personality) and be able to use any ability test and selected personality test. Agenda: Ability (2 days) • Appreciate the differences across a wide range of published ability tests and interest inventories • Evaluate and select appropriate ability tests for use within their own organisations • Run professional test administration sessions and effectively interpret and feedback test results • Become registered as Level 1 Qualified Test User and eligible for the BPS Occupational Qualification in Psychological Testing – Ability. Personality (2 days) • Gain a critical appreciation of personality theories and assessment methods • Achieve proficiency administering, interpreting and feeding back including written feedback reports • Understand how to introduce and apply the personality profile The Seville Wave in selection, development, counselling and team building situations • Relate the personality profile to competencies • Employ questionnaires appropriately to ensure organisational benefit • Become familiar with the latest research findings in personality assessment • Become eligible for the BPS Occupational Qualification in Psychological Testing – Personality. NB: Annual registration and cost of BPS membership are not included in the course price.
