Introduction Through the Eagle’s Eye promotes new ways of thinking about how technology, peer education, and the arts can be used together to create exciting, academically challenging experiences for high school students. This curriculum guide provides tools for teachers and administrators to introduce video production activities and offers several suggestions to successfully implement a media arts program tailored to a school’s needs and resources.

Overview
Three Profiles for Media Arts Learning Through The Eagle’s Eye was modeled between 2003 & 2005 in three unique charter schools. Each have since adapted the curriculum to fit their own students’ needs.

Four Directions uses Storytelling, Family and Traditional Learning models to engage their students.
•
El Colegio Charter School integrates visual and performing arts elements and Latino cultural education with digital photography and video.
•
High School for Recording Arts developed a concept for presenting their media curriculum in alignment with their already successful music program.

Three Profiles for Media Arts Learning Four Directions Charter School: Storytelling, Family and Traditional Learning Although In Progress and Four Directions began working together in 1991, Four Directions was not recognized as an alternative school until 2001, when it received a federal funding. Today Media Arts influences a big part of Four Directions curriculum.

Overview
Three Profiles for Media Arts Learning El Colegio Charter School: Facilitated Learning in a Creative Arts Environment El Colegio Charter School opened in the Fall of 2000. Most students are Latino. Their major focus areas are arts, environment, and technology. They hope to increase graduation rates and postsecondary education. El Colegio also has adequate and trained staff. They are working on ways to expand their program and get adequate equipment.

Three Profiles for Media Arts Learning
High School For Recording Arts: Developing a Dream Team of Teen Producers The High School for Recording Arts originated in 1996, as a pilot program for music production. In March 1997 they partnered with St.Paul Learning Center and became a Charter School. With help from Through The Eagle’s Eye, the High Recording Arts has adapted curriculum to create their own model for media arts learning. Their Peer Mentors are known as the “Dream Team”.

Overview
Media Arts In The Classroom Through The Eagle’s Eye Video curriculum introduces students to analysis, interpretation, and the evaluation of art. They also create and present their work to others. Students take pride in making videos and taking photographs. They also learn how to document their own perceptions of the world. When they make their art, students also incorporate other academic subjects. Through The Eagle’s Eye provides a sample video curriculum that can be adjusted to engage the students’ attention and meet their unique academic needs. Overview
Building a Peer Mentor Program
Through peer mentorship students learn how to teach others. When students teach their peers there is increased performance amongst both the learners and mentors. Peer Mentors create and present lectures and demonstrations and are required to write lesson plans and assessments. They also learn how to present and discuss their own artwork to others. build leadership skills.

Step 1:
Define your goals and objectives.

Step 2:
Define what you would like your students to benefit from the Peer Mentor Program.
•
Step 3:
What is your budget and how many staff members are available.
•
Step 4:
Pick staff that will benefit from the training and has interest in Media Arts.
•
Step 5:
Peer Mentors and staff are required to train for at least 40 hours, write make lesson plans and learn how to manage equipment.

Through The Eagle’s Eye: Video Arts Curriculum Through The Eagle’s Eye provides a series of lessons. Exercises and assessments that can be used to introduce students to the art of video creation.
