National Career Academy (NCA) is a conference uniting INROADS College Links participants for career exploration and skills development. Students will participate in interactive workshops equipping them with the skills needed to succeed in college, careers, and in life.

NCA SCHOLAR EXPECTATIONS

Bring your “A” game.

Use please, thank you, proper greetings, use of titles, etc. Use your “inside voice.”

Clean up after yourselves.

No running, racing, or roughhousing in the dorms. Respect INROADS staff, volunteers, parents, etc.

Adhere to the Code of Conduct. You signed it, you will be held to it.

Do not leave until the event/ workshop is finished. Give your full attention.

Respect your facilitators and peers.

Stay awake.

Put your cellphones away. Do not break curfew.

Wild or inappropriate behavior, roughhousing will not be tolerated.

The dress code will be enforced. Scholars will be required to change clothes if they do not adhere to the outlined dress protocol. When in doubt, leave it at home.

• Khaki or navy pants or skirt. Bring your navy blue INROADS collared polo shirt and a 2nd shirt will be provided.

DON’TS

• No jeans, tennis shoes, or sandals.

• No halters or midriffs, strapless tops or dresses, spaghetti strap tops or dresses, no “see through”/ transparent attire.

• No short skorts, miniskirts, or shorts.

• Collared shirt, INROADS Collared polo shirt to be provided.

• Khakis or Navy pants.

• Shirts must be tucked into pants with a belt at the waistline.

DON’TS

• No jeans and no tennis shoes/ sneakers, no hats or caps.

• No shorts or T-shirts.

• No droopy pants, cutoff jeans (holes), Dress/Casual shoes with socks.

SUNDAY RECEPTION, TUESDAY EVENING GAME

WEDNESDAY FAREWELL BREAKFAST — CASUAL

YOUNG LADIES AND YOUNG MEN

• Acceptable casual wear (jeans, T-shirts, sundresses, appropriate length shorts).

• Shorts, skirts, dresses, or skorts must be at least mid-thigh length – use the “fingertip” rule.

• Shorts should be no higher than level of longest fingertip when arms are held at side. If you have short arms and long legs, then the inseam must be at least 4 inches long.

DON’TS

• Undergarments must not be visible.

• No strapless, “seethrough,” or transparent attire.

• No visible mid-sections.

• No ripped jeans.

• No droopy pants, cutoff jeans (holes).

BANQUET

• YOUNG MEN: Suit, tie, collared shirt, dress shoes, blazer.

• YOUNG LADIES: Business suit or dress.

• Dresses should be modest and refrain from displaying any excessive bounty.

DON’TS

• No minidresses or visible mid-sections.

• No plunging necklines or excessive cleavage.

• No athletic shoes.

• No jeans.

• No shorts.

National Career Academy (NCA) is a training conference uniting INROADS College

Links high school scholars from across the U.S. for career exploration and skills development.

High school scholars will participate in various activities throughout their 2 and a half day stay.

• STEM Exploration Powered by STEMBoard and INROADS.

• College tour and career fair.

• Incubator Competition Inspired by SharkTank.

• Gala Dinner and Senior Salute - graduating seniors will be honored at the culmination of the event.

• Scholars will also receive swag and opportunities for daily giveaways.

Scholars will be assigned to a Chaperone. They will be accompanied during travel, to facilities, meetings and on tours/outings. They will have definitive curfews and be introduced to our code of conduct and NCA expectations before and upon arrival at NCA.

What is the deadline to register?

Yes, parents can be chaperones. Chaperones will be required to stay on campus in the dormitory and remain with the group at all times. Therefore, lodging, meals, and metro Atlanta transportation will be covered. However, parents will still be required to pay for their travel arrangements to and from Atlanta. In addition, chaperones are required to undergo a background check and drug test, possibly at an additional cost. There will be mandatory training/information sessions for all chaperones.

Parents can only attend if they are chaperones. Parents (that are not chaperones) may accompany their scholar to Atlanta. However, parents will be required to make separate accommodations (i.e. travel, lodging, meals, metro Atlanta transportation).

What is the code of conduct for scholars?

The Code of Conduct is a list of rules that our scholars are expected to abide by. It is contained in the INROADS College Links Student Handbook but will be required to be reviewed and signed by students and parents at the time of registration.

How will we ensure dietary / food allergy safety?

Dietary restrictions and requests will be captured during the registration process and will be shared with food caterers/vendors for adherence.

Will my child be able to select a Roommate?

Dress code is included in the Information Guide and a printable packing checklist will be sent prior to the event.

The cost of travel, lodging, meals and transportation around metro Atlanta is covered by INROADS for our scholars.

During registration, your child can list the name of a preferred roommate. Note: Room assignments are not guaranteed, but students will room with same gender scholars).
