APRIL 2022

THE MESSENGER A Publication for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative Members

Scholarship applications due April 13 The North Arkansas Electric Cooperative member-funded Operation Round Up® program awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to local graduating high school seniors each year. In 2021, 20 students each were awarded a $1,000 scholarship. NAEC is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 scholarship program. The application is at naeci.com and high school counselors. Applicants must mail or deliver the typed application to NAEC by April 13. They must include a high school transcript and three letters of recommendation. To be eligible for the scholarship, high school seniors must graduate at the end of the 2022 school year, and their parents or legal guardians must be NAEC members. Applicants also must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher through the first semester of senior year. For more information, please contact Tori Moss at tmoss@naeci.com or 870-895-6210.

Digging into an outdoor project? Before you dig, visit call811.com or dial 811 to protect any underground utilities. Careless digging poses a threat to people and utility services.

Lineworkers to be recognized April 11 Lineworkers serve on the frontlines of our nation’s energy needs. On April 11, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, along with other electric cooperatives across the country, will honor the men and women who work hard to keep the lights on. Line crews work around the clock, sometimes in difficult and dangerous conditions, to keep power flowing to our local communities. Whether they’re restoring power after a major storm or maintaining critical infrastructure to our electric system, line personnel are at the heart of our co-op. When a storm hits, they set aside their personal priorities because Mother Nature doesn’t work around holidays, vacations and birthdays. A service-oriented mentality is one of the many admirable characteristics of an electric lineworker. NAEC is proud to honor the employees who maintain roughly 5,000 miles of power lines in our service territory. We invite co-op members to take a moment and thank lineworkers for the important work they do. Use #ThankALineworker on social media to show your support for the brave men and women who power our lives.
