At Decatur County REMC, we strive to ensure you have reliable electric service, but sometimes, outages occur. In the event you experience an outage, we promise that we have a dedicated team of employees working around the clock to restore service.

Before you report an outage, ensure that the problem is not on your side of the electric meter by doing the following:

  • Check your electrical panel to make sure breakers and/or fuses are in working order.

  • Check for an exterior main breaker (common with manufactured homes).

  • Check to see if your neighbors have power.

Once you've determined the outage is not on your side, report to us by:

  • Using the SmartHub mobile app

  • Online through your SmartHub account

  • By phone at 800-844-7362

NEVER REPORT OUTAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR BY EMAIL. THESE ARE NOT MONITORED 24/7.

Restoration Plan

To restore power to the greatest number of members as quickly as possible during a widespread power outage, we follow a system that repairs the largest transmission lines first, followed by substations, main distribution lines, tap lines, and then lines that serve individual members.

Safety First

NEVER attempt to touch or move a downed power line. Stay far away from power lines at all times and warn others to do the same. The ground around a downed power line and anything it touches may be conducting electricity and can cause serious injury or death if touched. If you see a downed power line call 911 immediately.
