T’S SATURDAY IN THE FIELD HOUSE, and only moments remain before Romy Bross and her team, Desert Storm Elite Rage, embark to take the floor. Romy’s mom anxiously awaits in the stands. As Rage marches onto the mat, Romy’s mom sends her daughter some love by forming a hand-heart in the air. Rage takes their positions and the crowd goes silent. Only two-anda-half minutes stand in the way of Rage making it into the Semi-Finals. …

Today marked the calendar of our first official Worlds practice! The energy in the gym today was incredible. We started our practice off with a warm-up as usual. When it was time to start our first full out of the night, we got in our huddle and talked about what we wanted to show the world next weekend, and how we were going to achieve that. We ended up doing two full outs that night, both with very little mistakes. This helped set our team’s confidence up for a great week to come!

Tuesday April 14, 2015

Tonight’s practice had a very different approach than what we are used to. My back spot works a full-time job on top of cheer, as many cheerleaders in the cheer world must do. When practice rolled around, he found himself stuck at work, and couldn’t get off in time to make it to practice. Knowing that we had to move along, we continued to warm everything else up that could be done without him. We completed our first full out with only one touch down. Just as we were about to start our second full out, he walked through the door. Having to stretch and warm-up in such little time, we went about our second full out, and again finished with very few mistakes. Although the practice had a more hectic start than most nights, we managed to still pull off two great routines!

Wednesday April 15, 2015

With every great Worlds practice there is bound to be a not-so-great practice, and tonight was definitely one of those nights. During our usual warm-up, nothing was going the way we anticipated it to. Stunts were either shaky or falling, and our tumbling wasn’t as consistent as normal. Our coaches told us to go outside and clear our heads. When we came back inside, we killed our warm-up, which we thought would set us up for two great full outs. On the contrary, both routines we threw had major issues, whether it was a stunt fall or multiple touch downs. We all felt as if we just couldn’t do anything right tonight. However, when it came to sections, we turned it around and stepped up our game, leaving us feeling a little bit better about the practice we had.

Saturday April 18, 2015

Before I went to my practice today, I had to wake up at the crack of dawn and take my ACT test. The test was about four-and-a-half hours long. Knowing my luck, I got a massive migraine in the middle of it, and had to continue on to practice with it. On a positive note, our practice mainly focused on working on sections and cleaning small things up.

Sunday April 19, 2015

We all came into the gym thinking we would again have an easygoing practice, as our coach told us we wouldn’t be doing any full outs today. Once we arrived, our coach told us that he changed his mind and we would actually be throwing a full out. We all had to be mentally tough and snap ourselves into

I STILL REMEMBER ROMY AT HER ORIGINAL TEAM PLACEMENTS WHEN SHE WAS JUST A LITTLE GIRL. SHE CAME TO US WITH SUCH POTENTIAL. SINCE THEN, SHE HAS BECOME A VERY STRONG COMPETITIVE ATHLETE FOR OUR PROGRAM, AND THE WORLD RECOGNIZES HER AS A LEADER IN THE CHEER COMMUNITY AND AS A ROLE MODEL FOR OTHER ASPIRING CHEERLEADERS. SHE IS TALENTED AND COMMITTED TO BEING THE BEST SHE CAN BE.” - Eric Contreras

Owner/Director, Desert Storm Elite the right mindset. Our full outs didn’t go as expected, so we set up for another one and we ended up throwing a great second full out to end the practice!

Monday April 20, 2015

Today the spirits were high in the gym knowing we only had two practices left, in addition to our showcase. We all had an amazing practice! Today I felt us bond as a team and work with each other. We threw two near-perfect routines and this made us feel great for the week ahead!

Tuesday April 21, 2015

This was our last official practice of the year! As it was very emotional, we all made sure we put our hearts out on the floor. Again, we hit two near-perfect routines. We ended the night with a slideshow of all of our memorable pictures throughout the year.

Wednesday April 22, 2015

Today was our last day to prepare for Worlds! With it being our showcase, we were a little nervous, but knew we could do it. We performed our full out in front of the crowd, and hit our routine with one touch down. Afterwards, we got to see our friends and family that came to support us. Our favorite part of the evening was ending the night by opening our goodie bags for Worlds.
