Day 1 Makassar
On arrival in Makassar, be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon, explore the highlights of Makassar including Fort Rotterdam and the old Dutch fortress. Overnight at Best Western Makassar. (D)
Day 2 Makassar to Sengkang
Escape from the hustle and bustle of Makassar city as you venture to RammangRammang Village. Navigate your way through the Puteh River whilst on a traditional canoe. Later, trek around Berua Village and gain an insight into local living. Enjoy lunch before continuing the trip to Sengkang. Drive directly to Tempe Lake, where you will board a motorised canoe and cross the lake to visit fishermen families who live on floating houses in the middle of the lake. Overnight at BBC Hotel Sengkang. (BLD)
Day 3 Sengkang to Tana Toraja
Spend the morning exploring a traditional silk factory, where you can see the spinning and weaving of silk material by Buginese women. Afterwards transfer to Toraja via Siwa and Palopo, admire the amazing surroundings along the way. Later this afternoon, arrive in the small town of Rantepao. Stay the next three nights at Luta Resort. (BLD)
Day 4 Tana Toraja
Spend the day exploring the quiet streets and surrounds of Tana Toraja. Start with a visit to Lemo, As one of the oldest burial cliffs in Toraja, every inch of Lemo radiates a sense of stillness that is indescribable by mere words. The remains of the deceased are laid here inside crevices in giant boulders, well preserved by the spirits of the land, keeping them intact and undamaged. Later, enjoy a short walk to Kete Kesu, one of the oldest Toraja villages. Here you will find two rows of the original village houses, the traditional ancestral houses of the Toraja people, Tongkonan, as well as traditional rice barns with colourful woodcarvings. (BLD)
Day 5 Tana Toraja
Travel to Timonbayo where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the megalith stones spread across the extensive rice fields. Continue to Batutumonga where you will begin a short trek to witness stunning panoramic views from above. Enjoy local cuisine served a traditional restaurant in Batutumonga. Later this afternoon, visit Bori followed by Pallawa and Sa’dan Tubaranna, local Torajan villages known as the weaving centre of Rantepao. (BLD)
Day 6 Tana Toraja to Makassar
After breakfast be transferred to the airport for your onward journey. (BL)
