White Gloves (1960s)
They look nice, but as long as you are not performing a surgical procedure, white gloves are absolutely useless and will accumulate dust once you hit the road.
We all experience this painful sting when we look back through our old photos at the times when we thought we looked cool and in vogue. However, silly fashion is as old as time itself, and here is a throwback on the worst fashion trends throughout history.
Corsets (1800s)
We know people in the Victorian era had a lot to go through, but there is no reason for wearing this thing other than destroying one’s ribs and organs! Corsets were made of spoon busks and steel supports, and we can tell that those who invented them were utter misogynists.
Mini Bowler Hats (1940s)
Why wear such a heavy thing and feel as if someone is literally sitting on your head?
Babydoll Dresses (1960s)
There was a tragic but, thankfully, a brief time when grown-up adults looked like dolls! Maybe this trend should have been left for babies?
Safety Pin Face Jewelry (1970s)
Why would any sane person pierce his face with office supplies?
Leg Warmers (1980s)
In the 1980s, people believed that working out or doing aerobics can make your calves chilly, so they invented this. But how is it even possible to feel cold while you are exercising?
How Many Colours can You See? (1980s)
Another cringe-worthy trend from the 1980s was these over-coloured, clownish costumes. We believe the 1980s deserves the worst-fashion award of all time.
Overalls with One Strap Down (1990s)
Whoever thought that this would flatter anyone was sorely mistaken.
Parachute Pants (1990s)
Another scandalous trend from the 1990s was these parachute pants, which were made of nylon -the same material for making parachutes.
Patterned Tights (1960s)
Why, why, why, huh?
Artful Sunglasses (2000s)
Trend-makers seem to have forgotten about the main objective of eyeglasses, which is to protect the eyes and improve one’s sight. So, they invented glasses that ruin people’s eyes and distort their vision!
The Velour Tracksuit (2000s)
In the 2000s, the line between home wear and outing clothes started to blur. These outfits might feel comfy, but no offence, they look terrible or maybe for the over-confident (a more polite way of saying it is terrible).

Chia seeds seem to be popping up in every grocery store, and on the menu of every hot brunch spot. What are they though? Well, Chia seeds may be small, but they’re incredibly rich in nutrients.
Chia seeds, which are native to Central America, have long been touted as a superfood. They can be made into pudding, blended into smoothies or oatmeal, and even baked into bread! Not only are they versatile, but they’re chock full of health. What’s more, chia seeds are versatile and can be used in many recipes.
Here are 7 health benefits of chia seeds.
They Can Help Fight Anxiety
Chia seeds are chock-full of an unsung nutrient hero, magnesium, which may help moderate cortisol, aka the stress hormone, levels. Another reason you want more of this mineral? Low mag nesium levels are also associated with headaches and fatigue. Chia seeds are also high in tryptophan, an amino acid that can help your body produce seroto nin, in turn, helping you fight anxiety and have more regular patterns.
They Can Help Your Skin Glow
These tiny seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids—a single serving contains more of some of these healthy fats than a serving of salmon. In addi tion to helping prevent heart disease, these essential fats strengthen your skin, hair, and nails. Omega-3 fatty acids also reduce inflammation and dryness and help preserve collagen, which means you will have an amazing glowy skin.
They Can Help You Feel Full Longer
Chia seeds are loaded with tons of micro- and macro-nutrients, including protein, fiber, fat, cal cium, manganese, and tons more. They are also a great source of antioxidants. All of this makes them great for weight loss, heart health, and digestive health. The 11 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein in a serving of chia seeds1 may be beneficial to weight loss by help ing keep you fuller for longer. Plus, the seeds can absorb 15 times their weight in water, making them nutrient-dense fill ers to add to your smoothies and baked goods. But don’t go over board: Any more than the recom mended serving and the fiber may start to upset your stomach.
made into a pudding. Getting enough calcium means stronger bones and teeth and healthy skin.
They Can Help Fend Off Free Radicals
Blueberries get a lot of praise for being high in antioxidants, but it’s time to give chia seeds their due. Antioxidants are essential for your health since they help your cells defend against free radicals. You can easily add them into your diet. You can add them to salads, sprinkle them on yogurt, throw them in your smoothies, and use them as a coating on chicken to make them feel breaded.
They Can Help You RecoverPost Workout
One of the few complete plant proteins, chia seeds pack a punch that can help your body bounce back faster after exercising. As a complete protein, they contain all of the nine essential amino acids that your body can’t make on its own. The various amino acids in protein are basically your body’s building blocks, they’re important for growing and repairing cells and tissues throughout your body. Exercise can cause tiny tears in your muscle fibers, and protein helps your tissue repair that damage to come back stronger.
They May Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease
Given that chia seeds are high in fiber and omega-3s, consuming them may reduce your risk of heart disease. Soluble fiber, the kind primarily found in chia seeds, can help lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol in your blood. In turn, this can reduce your risk of heart disease. The omega-3 fatty acid in chia seeds has also been linked to decreased heart disease risk.
Just one serving a day packs nearly 18% of the daily-recommended amount of calcium1 (by weight, that’s more than milk), making chia seeds an excellent option for people who don’t con
Moon Knight
It is no spoiler to say that Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ is unlike anything attempted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008’s ‘Iron Man,’ especially to the Egyptian audience as it has many Egyptian elements for the first time in the Marvel Universe.
The show traffics in a great deal of Egyptian deities and mythology. Marvel has explored mythology before, but this is the first time it folded Egyptian history into its cinematic universe. At the core of the show is Egyptian mythology, where viewers are introduced to a pantheon of gods and symbolisms, from the aforementioned Khonshu to others, including Ammit, Tefnut, Horus, Isis, Osiris, Hathor, and Taweret. Episode five, “Asylum,” plumbed the depths of the spirit realm, using metaphorical placeholders and imagery.
‘Moon Knight’ follows a nebbishy London museum gift shop employee named Steven Grant, portrayed by actor Oscar Isaac, who is regularly waking up in strange places with no memory of how he got there. Over the course of the first episode,
he comes to realize that an alternate, and far more aggressive, personality named Marc Spector is living inside him — as is the voice of the Egyptian god Khonshu. Marc and Khonshu are at odds with a religious cult leader named Arthur Harrow, portrayed by actor Ethan Hawke, but Steven wants nothing to do with any of it, and grapples for control over his own body.
‘Moon Light’ was directed by none other than Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab. While growing up in Egypt, Diab was a regular consumer of comic book heroes, but he’d never heard of Moon Knight.
When Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige announced in 2019 that ‘Moon Knight’ would be one of the studios’ Disney Plus shows, Diab and his wife and producing partner Sarah Goher zeroed in on the character as the project they most wanted to pursue after recently moving to Los Angeles. Diab had established himself as an acclaimed director in Egypt for his films ‘Cairo 678’ and ‘Amira.’
“You are not gonna die let me save us”
- Marc SpectorOscar Isaac
With ‘Moon Knight,’ Diab saw the opportunity to bridge his Egyptian heritage with big canvas Hollywood filmmaking. Diab said in an interview “the drama of it and the Egyptian part of it feels like an extension of everything that I’ve been doing.” Interestingly, Moon Knight wasn’t filmed in Egypt. Much of the show’s scenery and action take place elsewhere, like Hungary, Slovenia, and Jordan. The first time Egypt is shown, it’s towards the end of the second episode, “Summon the Suit.” Spencer opens the windows from a high building, revealing pyramids in a far distance and a cluster of houses with native architecture. Jordan was a stand-in location for Egypt, and it’s a testament to Diab’s creative imagination and production team.
For Diab, who incidentally is Marvel’s first Egyptian filmmaker, representation on screen was as important as representation off screen. The hiring of composer Hisham Nazih, editor Ahmed Hafez and other Egyptian creatives like Reem al-Adl and Ali Hossam came from a desire to achieve authenticity. Egyptian actors such as Amr Al-Qadi, Zizi Dagher, Ahmed Dash and Hazem Ehab appeared in various scenes in Moon Knight. Antonia Salib, a British actress but of Egyptian descent,
voiced Taweret, the Egyptian goddess of fertility shown as a CGI hippo.
While Moon Knight is a personality clash between Marc Spencer and Steven Grant (another alter ego), it makes allowance for Layla, another note-worthy character played by EgyptianPalestinian actress May Calamawys. Layla is complex and interesting, can defend herself in crisis, steering away from orientalist framings of Arab women.
Social media is usually a great barometer for viewers’ reaction to pop culture events. So when Egyptian rap song “El-Melouk,” by Ahmed Saad, 3enba and Double Zuksh, played in the endcredits of the second episode, the reception was overwhelmingly positive. Many viewers, especially those of Egyptian or Arab identity, couldn’t hide their excitement, expressing how they felt seen.
Egypt was made to look and feel real, and not some orientalist La La Land in Moon Knight. The show truly captioned many and perfectly represented elements from the Egyptian culture. That’s why we cannot wait for season two of this amazing show.

Beat the Summer Heat
Everyone loves a bright sunny day and warm weather. But even those who wait eagerly to welcome summers would agree that heat waves can be quite miserable. Things seem fine till the time you have to stay indoors. Stepping out on a hot summer day can be a real challenge. The sweat and heat can easily lead to dehydration and make you feel lethargic. Here are 11 tips to help you cool down in the summer and beat the summer heat.
STAY HYDRATED
Staying hydrated is the simple rule of surviving the summer heat. Drinking water helps to maintain the amount of fluid in your body which is lost easily in the form of sweat. Consuming 2 litres of water is important for every individual in all the weather. In summers you need to do a little bit more due to easy water loss from the body. Have juice, coconut water and hydrating fruits.
TAKE A LUKEWARM SHOWER
Taking a cold shower in hot weather seems relaxing and comforting, but scientists suggest that this makes you feel even hotter. That’s because when you take a cool shower your body has to work harder to warm up again. Studies suggest that warm water cools your bloodstream. So, opting for it is a better option.
AVOID TEA AND COFFEE
Caffeine and nicotine intake can also increase the body’s core temperature. They constrict the blood vessels which warms the blood and makes you feel hot and sweaty. Have cool beverages like coconut water, lemon water and fruit juices. Even excessive intake of alcohol should be avoided.
EAT LIGHT MEALS
Eating heavy meals can also generate heat in the body and make you feel uncomfortable. After a large meal, your body has to work harder to digest the food and metabolise it. This eventually increases your core temperature and makes you feel sweaty and lethargic afterwards. Consume light and freshly cooked meals in the summers. Cut down on processed food and intake of salty foods.
COOL YOUR TOES
If you are feeling excessively hot then an easy way to bring your temperature down is by cooling your toes. Putting wet clothes and soaking your feet in cool water for some time can relax you and make you feel less hot. You can also wear wet socks for a while.
WEAR LOOSE COTTON CLOTHES
Wearing tight fitted and dark coloured clothes can make you sweatier. If you intend to stay cool and avoid excessive sweating, opt for loose, light-coloured cotton clothes. Your sweat does not evaporate when you wear thick clothes. Besides, dark colours absorb more wavelengths of light, making you feel hotter.
GO SWIMMING
Taking a dip in some cool water is one sure fire way to lower your body’s core temperature (plus it’s fun!) but it’s important that you don’t swim in water that is above 80 degrees F, especially when the air temperature is high. Exertion and high temperatures can have fatal consequences so when you go for a swim, ensure that the water is not overly hot and be careful not to over exert yourself.
CARRY A MISTING BOTTLE
In the absence of a lake, lagoon, ocean, or pond, you can always carry a misting bottle that will help cool you off. There are many types to choose from and most are compact enough to fit in a day bag or backpack.
AVOID USING FANS
While it may be tempting to pull out a hand-held fan, using fans is actually a false comfort. According to FEMA, people should avoid using fans when the temperature outside is over 95 degrees. This is because they create air flow and a false sense of comfort but actually don’t reduce body temperature and can actually increase the risks of heat-related illness.
DON A HAT
Hats are not only stylish, but can help with an added protection against the sun’s UV rays and help to keep you cool. You can also get your hat wet (as long as it won’t ruin it) and this will help you cool off more.
BRING YOUR SHADES
Not only do sunglasses make you look cool, but they make you feel cooler. The National Eye Institute recommends wearing shades with high UV protection because exposure to sunlight is damaging to your eyes. It’s also worth noting that individuals with lighter coloured eyes (blue, green, grey, etc.) are more sensitive to light so pack an extra pair, just in case you lose one while taking that swim.
S elf-tanner is a safe, UV-free way to get the sun-kissed look of someone who’s been on a beach somewhere, recently, living their best life. But not all self-tanners are equal: Some have to sit on your skin for an agonizing amount of time, while others are hard to apply evenly. There is a near-endless number of tanners on the market, so to help you find a self-tanner that won’t make you look like a cheetah or smell horrible, we’ve compiled the best sunless tanning products to help you get glowing.
Get Ready

ToSally Hansen Airbrush Leg Makeup

Glow
Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse
This mousse is great if you’re short on time but you want to look like you’ve just returned from a relaxing tropical getaway. The olive base helps provide a natural-looking tan in as little as two hours and lasts up to a week.
If you exfoliate and moisturize properly before application you can avoid any tan lines.
Sol Sunless Tanning Water MousseSay goodbye to sticky self tanning formulas with this water mousse. The translucent dye free water dispenses as an airy foam that spreads smoothly for even, colorless application that transforms into a medium and deep color in just a few hours. The coconut water and fresh tropical passion fruit essence are a bonus.
Good Carbs Bad Carbs
They feature in the superstar list of the nutritional heroes of all time. Kale, spinach, cabbage, beet greens are some of the most popular ingredients for a healthy meal. They are super rich in Folate & betacarotene, especially spinach. Consumption of dark green leafy vegetbales has shown to lower the risk of cancer and even help delaying cognitive decline. They also have an abundance of vitamins Like Vitamin E & Vitamin C, which keeps the skin tissue healthy and regular consumption also reduces the risk of cataract.
Oatmeal
No Healthy Food list can be complete without such a staple breakfast item. Though many are not particularly fond of the bland natural flavor it offers, there are many other benefits it has to offer. This study has found significant evidence strengthening the associated relation between consumption of oat beta-glucan (a soluble fiber occurring in oats) and the corresponding decrease in blood cholesterol. Additionally, it is highly satiating, which aids in weight loss and helps control Type 2 diabetes.
Breakfast Cereals
By touting cereals as a healthy option, it is easily one of the most misleading claims made by breakfast cereal companies trying to offload sugar-laden foods to the unsuspecting and naïve consumer. Most ready-to-eat breakfast cereals are packed with large refined grains and sugars, which are precisely the opposite of what healthy foods are supposed to be- and that is devoid of sugars. They are not the best option out there by any yardstick. A simple fruit like an apple or a banana with steel-cut oats will prove to be a tastier and healthier snack.
Unlike the stripped white rice, brown rice is a whole grain that is not stripped of its nutritional value in the process of preparation. It is essentially made whole by the presence of the outer bran layer, the germ- which is the core of nutrients, and the endosperm refers to the middle layer. In addition to lower calorie contribution, it has good fiber content and is also low on the Glycemic Index, ticking all our carbohydrate metrics.
Unlike brown rice, white rice is a refined or a nutrient stripped version of brown rice. The stripping removes the germ (nutrient core) and the bran leaving just the endosperm. The process also removes other nutrients like Iron, B-vitamins, iron according to the American Heart Association. The relatively higher GI also makes it a less preferred choice and may increase the case of type 2 diabetes. It is not bad when mixed with other low GI foods, but it is better to switch to the healthier brown rice for an overall better nutritional profile.
Legumes
Legumes are one of the most nutritious options for vegetarians with an impressive food profile. Legume refers to the seeds of the plants which produces pod such as chickpeas, beans, peanuts, soybeans. They are packed with ample complex carbohydrates and protein and help reduce cholesterol levels, The complex carbohydrates allow slows down gastric emptying allowing the steady release of insulin, which stabilizes blood sugar levels. When you have steady blood sugar levels, there are no cravings, which ultimately leads to weight loss!
SSBs are probably the number one candidate who is wreaking havoc in your diet plans. Drinks like artificial fruit juices, carbonated beverages are incredibly high in added sugar. Some of them also provide fructose in ample amounts. Since fructose does not lower the hormone ghrelin (ghrelin hormone primarily regulates hunger and sends signals to the brain to act hungry), it does not lend a fullness post-consumption, unlike foods high in fiber do. This may lead to surplus calorie intake, and also possibly overeating and regular excess consumption of such foods can be a cause of serious concern.
This sugary and calorie-dense delectable sweet surely tops the list of all comfort foods. Despite how tempting and irresistible a tub of ice cream feels, you should also be concerned about how the sugars and extra additives wreak havoc in your body. As per USDA, a 100g serving of ice cream has around ~22 grams of sugar with about ~215Kcal. This study links excess sugar consumption and health conditions such as fatty liver disease and obesity.Besides being calorie-dense and nutrient deficient, ice creams are laden with several artificial flavors and additives. FDA has banned one such synthetic flavoring agent called Benzophenone.
