CUSTOMER INSIGHTS

Managing Customer Traffic Hoteliers in the outskirts of Nairobi have been faced with low occupancy challenge over and over. Since Nairobi is the country’s capital city and most of the resources are channeled to it, most tourists from other countries have frequently been booking accommodations in the big city. Even with the high competition some hotels have been able to feature in the world map and increasing their brand image. Some of these tips have aided in their quest to fight the growing competition.

Marketing Marketing is everything when it comes to selling hotel inventory. Effective marketing strategy is required if hotels need to generate traffic on room reservations and booking. In the technology era, people have been accustomed to the use of internet. Most of the consumers refer to online content in order to find the brand that would meet their tastes. Since most people have one or two social sites, with Facebook and Twitter becoming most popular, relaying information online would reach a big number of the intended target. Online booking has been of paramount value to most guests since less time and channels would be required.

Since it’s said an image speaks louder than a thousand words, use of still and motion picture increases the connectivity with visitors and will be more reliable and captivating in showcasing brand’s product.

Being unique Offering a unique experience can boost consumer traffic. Most guests like to have an experience of their lifetime. When targeting tourists and business travelers, luxury has to be an aspect. With the use of data generated from previous guests visit and online reviews, a hotel can design a room in terms of consumer habit and preference. Luxurious accommodation does not only refer to customer service but also presence of high speed Wifi. Spacious rooms, a conducive lobby and also giving the guest the feeling of home presence

Offering enticing packages Most hoteliers have incorporated tours in their packages to enable guest to experience the scenery of the city, since most visitors prefer exploration rather than staying indoors.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS

How Businesses Can Thrive During Recession The country’s financial crisis has also impacted business operations in Kenya. For instance more retail industries have been forced to shut down and others decrease the margin in profitability and productivity due to the drop in terms of sales. If well organized, these same businesses can turn these recession period into revenue increase. Retail managers are more concentrated on coming up with more initiatives, changing mode of customary service delivery and less concentrating on the minority factors that have proven to be more beneficial. In previous years customer loyalty has been a priority in terms of revenue generation. Most stores prefer concentrating more on loyal customers in fighting the rising competition but that might change. Loyal customers have decreased the rate of shopping expenditure by almost 25% which might only cover business expenses less profit. This means that concentrating on consumers who are neither loyal to you or your competitors can be rewarding. For example, if they spend 30% today and advancing to 40% that would mean a gain in terms of sales even if they were to drop

their spending to 37%. Retaining them can be achieved by developing a unique experience. Studying the consumer behavior and habits can be an added advantage in terms of revenue productivity. Data acquired from consumer feedback, emails and social media can help a retail store understand what the customer wants. In this era of internet, online marketing can be of great help in regards to business promotion. Most consumers tend to read more about a brand online. Most customers feel secure when buy products from a store they have information about. Focusing on customary trends. Retail stores should always be updated on business trends if they are to keep the profit margin in their shops. Since the introduction of modes of payment like; Lipa Na Mpesa most customers are more interested on paying for products through phones since carrying money doesn’t always feel secure. Also engaging into online shopping. Most customers prefer shopping online since products will be delivered at their doorsteps and it may cut down expenses like travelling.
