Afteryearsofsuccessfullymanagingdaughtercompanies ofmultinationalcorporations,suchasBritishAmerican TobaccoandVELUX,attheendofmycorporatecareerin 2002,Imanagedmyowngroupconsistingof14companies and1000employees.ItwasatthistimethatIdecidedto continuemycareerworkingonnewcompaniesasIdidnot findbigtobebetterforme.Ialwayshadaninterestinnew technologiesandhowsuchmaybeusedtostartnew enterprises,soitwasnotasurprisewhenthefirst companiesIstartedintheearlyyearswererelatedtothe mobileinternet,whichwasnewatthattime.LaterIwas involvedwithnewrecyclingtechnologiesonlytoarriveat 3Dprinting.

Afterdoingalotofstudies,Ilearnedthattherewasa possibilityforcreatingamoreintelligentmethodof constructionusing3Dprinting,solvingthattheconstruction businesshadbeenlabor-intensiveandinefficientforyears, andthatiswhenCOBODwascreated.

Whatchallengesdidyoufacealongtheway?

Asourgoalwasandstillistodisrupttheconstruction industryonaglobalscale,weneedallthehelpwecanget indoingthismassiveunderstanding.That’swhywe,from thebeginning,havebeenwantingtopartnerwithsignificant multinationalindustrialcompaniesthatcouldhelpus. Obviously,suchcompaniesarenoteasytogetincontact withandmakeagreementswithforasmallstart-up,butwe managed.
