Making Sense of The Thatch website redesign

Turning to an approach that is more akin to magazine design, we have used large images, striking pull out quotes and plenty of calming white space. All of the images can be changed and updated at any point, and doing so will give the site a longer lifespan, keeping it fresh and engaging. To bring in a little looseness and life into the site we have sparingly used handwritten words - representing the spirit of the Thatch. Images will take an important roll in telling the story of the Thatch - how it lives in the hearts of so many incredibly varied people, but the different fonts used will also point to this.

THE THATCH HOMEPAGE INITIAL VIEW 1. Book a room button appears here on every page - pushing the accommodation and making it very easy to book a room no matter where you are on the site.
2. All imagery can change. Large, full width header images will rotate, grabbing users attention and imagination. These images could include a shot of Croyde, the bar, customers, food, events, accommodation - the possibilities are endless. 3-5 images are best - any more and customers would have moved on already.
3. Working with the Thatch straplines, I have tried to bring in a bit of a ‘free spirit’ feel within the type. Not only does this represent the vast selection of clientele, but it brings a bit of pace and variety into the design. This could however all appear as just the one typeface.
4. The large header grabs attention, whilst the clean, clear paragraph introduces the pub to the reader. All copy can change (this has been taken from your current site)
