ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Colegio Altair was founded in 1995. It is a private, bilingual school that offers a personalised, high-quality modern education that aims to meet the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of our students.

We are accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation for three of its programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme. We are also members of the Latin American Heads Conference (LAHC) and the La Asociación de Colegios Particulares Amigos (ADECOPA).

INFANTS

Primary Years Programme (PYP) - Reggio EmiliaInspired Approach:

Early Years' unique Inspired approach combines the Reggio Emilia philosophy of learning through play, with numeracy and literacy activities, giving young learners a competitive edge from the start. It is based on the belief that children learn best through active exploration, inquiry, and collaborative dialogue.

Primary Years Programme (PYP):

The Primary stage focuses on fostering the development of skills and attitudes that contribute to the comprehensive formation of our students, and to empower them to build a strong and sequential foundation, ultimately leading to academic excellence.

Middle Years Programme (MYP):

In this stage, our students continue their growth through learning spaces where they develop soft skills as well as autonomous and responsible learning through more elaborate, abstract and deep thinking concepts and skills, and high academic demand.

Middle Years Programme (MYP):

In the last year of the MYP, 10th grade students demonstrate all of the knowledge and skills developed through the programme with a personal project. After this, they decide whether to undertake the National Curriculum (NC) or the Internationa Baccalaurate Diploma Programme.

The IB Diploma is offered in grades 11 and 12, which is an additional year to the national curriculum. The programme aims to educate students who achieve excellent breadth and depth of knowledge while growing physically, intellectually and emotionally.

Nestled in the serene residential district of La Molina in Lima, Colegio Altair boasts a modern campus that provides the optimal setting for comprehensive learning. School House System

Our school is comprised of four unique Houses: Gamma, Sigma, Delta, and Omega. Each House is represented by a dedicated House Captain and Vice Captain, elected by the student body. These House leaders play a pivotal role in uniting their members, fostering camaraderie, and driving collective excellence across various areas, including

PAS - Social Action Project

Through our External Social Support Programme, we actively promote participation in the ongoing development of our wider community. In recent years, our school has collaborated with several institutions, including Lulay, Carrera contra la malnutrición, NGO Tierra y Ser, and Kusimayo. In our ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of education we provide, we're excited to share some upcoming projects. We've recently acquired additional land surrounding our school, paving the way for significant expansions. This expansion will double the size of our campus, allowing us to create a spacious environment ideal for various sports and extracurricular activities.

One of the most exciting developments on the horizon is the construction of a brand-new Early Learning School. This state-of-the-art facility will house Pre-Nursery and Nursery classrooms, catering to children aged 2 to 3 years. We are dedicated to providing the best possible educational start for our youngest learners, and these new facilities will play a pivotal role in achieving that goal. A typical day at Colegio Altair follows a structured schedule to ensure effective learning and a well-rounded educational experience for all students. Here is the daily schedule at each school level:

• Stage 3: 8.15 am to 1.10 p.m

• Pre Kindergarten: 8:00 am to 1:45 pm

• Kindergarten to 2nd grade: 7:40 am to 2:30 pm

• 3rd to 5th grade: 7:40 am to 3:15 pm

At Colegio Altair, we believe it is important that we guide our students toward a successful and fulfilling career path. This is why we have developed an exceptional Vocational Guidance programme that initiates in the 9th Grade and continues throughout their high school journey.

In the 10th Grade, our students undergo a comprehensive examination designed to assess their learning progress and pinpoint their strengths and areas of interest. The results of this assessment are shared with both students and parents at the outset of the 11th Grade, providing valuable insights to assist them in their decision-making process.

To enhance our learners' ability to make informed choices, we organise a Vocational Guidance Fair in the third bimester of the

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Colegio Altair's admission policy prioritises placing applicants in suitable educational settings to maximise their benefit from our institution. We welcome applicants from as young as 2 years old (Stage 2) and also accommodate students transferring from schools in Peru or abroad.

Our admission process is streamlined through the Open Apply platform, allowing parents to monitor the entire process seamlessly. This platform ensures efficient and transparent management of admissions, offering accessibility and convenience to parents and international re-locators.

Enrolment process

We take pride in our special policies designed for students coming from abroad due to their parents' work commitments. Recognising the importance of supporting these families during their transition and adjustment to a new school and country, we are dedicated to facilitating their integration and providing the necessary assistance to help them feel comfortable and make the most of the high-quality education we offer.

Enquiry Form

Submit an enquiry form. Parents attend a first tour (or Open Day event) of the school with the Head of Admissions.

Personalised Tour

Submit an application form with an application fee of S/450.

Application Form

Provide the relevant admissions documents.

Interview

Students complete an evaluation test, with the exception of Early Learning School, who will meet with the Head of Level.

Application Review

Offer letter sent to parents.

Enrolment Process

Sign the documents sent to parents and pay the entrance fee, depending on the schedule defined in the contract.
