PROSPECTUS

Welcome to Reddam House Berkshire – an exciting and inspiring place to grow and learn and a school I am immensely proud of.
This is a vibrant and lively learning community; the school is buzzing with teachers who care passionately and young people who enjoy learning and challenges. Reddam is a place where children are given space, support and countless opportunities to grow in confidence and to discover their individual talents. It is this focus on empowering each individual child to achieve their unique potential that sets us apart. We are ambitious, and the teaching and learning environment values both achievement and momentum to succeed, supported by the broad curriculum and commitment to academic, creative, cultural, and sporting excellence.
We nurture the individual in a community based on fairness, respect and kindness, where adults and children are considerate to each other, and where everyone has a voice. All members of our community, staff and students, are encouraged to be imaginative, compassionate, intelligent, empathetic, and determined.
We pride ourselves on offering a fresh and contemporary approach to education – but you need to come and see for yourself the warmth of our environment, the sense of excitement in our classrooms, and the curiosity sparked in our children. We look forward to welcoming you soon to our happy and creative community.
RICK CROSS PRINCIPAL“We nurture the individual in a community based on fairness, respect and kindness, where adults and children are considerate to each other, where everyone has voice. All members of our community, staff and students, are encouraged to be imaginative, compassionate, intelligent, empathetic and determined.”
Reddam House Berkshire is a co-educational day and boarding school that welcomes students from all over the world.
Our backdrop is quite unique: set in 125 acres of parkland, classes are taught in a magnificent, restored Victorian mansion which has been transformed into a world class learning environment.
Our future-focused, internationally respected curriculum balances academics, sports, and arts in a way that inspires all our students. From our youngest early learners to our senior school students, we instil a love of learning that stays with them forever.
“ From the start, we consider how different children learn so that each student gets every opportunity to do their best and we can help those who need it; to help students learn difficult concepts in a rewarding and memorable way. It is so important for young students to find learning fun – once they get that sense of accomplishment, it stays with them throughout their learning life.”
CRAWFORD REDDAM HOUSE FOUNDER AND GROUP PRESIDENTReddam students are nurtured and prepared for a life beyond education, and they graduate from us as confident, independent-minded young people, ready to excel and make a positive contribution to the world.
We are fortunate to have exceptional teaching staff and exemplary facilities that include a 350-seat theatre, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, extensive sports grounds, state-of-the-art science labs, and the most up-to-date technology in all our classrooms. Innovative, challenging, and enriching – an education at Reddam House Berkshire is a truly remarkable one.
Join us. Be part of our extraordinary school community. We look forward to welcoming you.
Ours is a truly inspiring learning environment for children aged three months to 18 years that instils a love of learning for life.
Taught by specialist teachers, our balanced, international curriculum is based around three pillars of modern education: academic excellence, sports, and performing and creative arts.
Our students are accepted into the UK’s top universities; in fact, more than 90% of our graduates are offered places at their first choice of university – a remarkable achievement.
Values are important: we instil Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Kindness, Courage and Ambition in every aspect of school life, nurturing the individuality, talent and confidence of all our students.
Our diverse programme of activities encourages students to develop new competencies and build the resilience, courage, and versatility they need to thrive in life beyond school.
We are an Inspired School – part of a group of private international schools with access to unrivalled opportunities that include curriculum partnerships, summer camps, and exchange programmes that span five continents.
We embrace individuality and instil the knowledge, values and attitudes that inspire our students to become globally minded citizens. Happy, resilient, and focused, they leave us prepared for life outside of school.
Our enriched academic programme is led by specialist teachers who ignite students’ curiosity, deepen knowledge, and embed core transferable skills. Reddam students achieve outstanding academic results and secure places at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
Exploring the arts opens students to new forms of selfexpression, allowing them to develop confidence in an environment outside the classroom. Drama, public speaking, music and visual arts are all core to our curriculum and is perhaps why our students excel in areas such as debating, Model United Nations, and performance.
Self-esteem, motivation, self-discipline, health and wellbeing are strengthened through our diverse range of sports opportunities. We aim to provide an athletics programme to suit every student and celebrate success at every level. Some students will achieve national and international honours, but all will benefit from physical exercise.
Our curriculum and learning ethos are founded on three
Ages: 3mths – 4yrs
– Learning through play
– Numeracy and Literacy
– French (at Stage 4)
Our Early Learning School (ELS) experience is a nurturing one, designed to bring out the best in every child. Set against a beautiful backdrop, it’s a home-away-from-home setting that follows the ‘rhythm of the day’ rather than a structured timetable. Staff welcome each child at the door at the beginning of the school day to ensure the happiest of transitions between home and school.
At the heart of our learning philosophy is the belief that children are confident and capable learners. Teachers combine Reggio Emiliaʹs learning through play philosophy with key numeracy and literacy activities in a way that’s socially, emotionally and physically motivating and ensures each student gets a head start.
Parental involvement is welcomed; in fact, we believe parental collaboration is vital in ensuring the holistic and happy development of each child.
In these early years, children learn to express themselves differently. We use visual and performing arts to nurture their talents and fuel their imaginations, building confidence by recognising their own unique ideas.
Curiosity is natural, and with it comes the skill of learning to learn. It’s why the curriculum for each child is unique –evolving as their individual interests emerge.
Our Stage 4 environment stimulates cooperative play, offering large areas for creative activities, small world, and block play. Language development is rich, and children will conjure imaginative realms and invite others to join in. It’s here that we introduce dedicated, creative teachers to help your child develop key skills for learning.
Lessons in Art, Dance, Drama, Sports and French are taught, each one culminating in reflection time. This gives the children the opportunity to summarise and review what they have discovered.
Reception – Year 6
Age 5-11
– Learning through play – Numeracy and Literacy – Science, Art and History
Our Junior School is a kind, vibrant community where students have the space and support to discover individual talents. Through our broad curriculum and commitment to academic, creative, cultural and sporting excellence, students become creative and critical thinkers who grow in imagination and confidence and develop the capacity to learn independently.
Curiosity and understanding through play are encouraged alongside the development of core numeracy and literacy skills. By matching our innovative teaching with a wide range of subjects, we engage studentsʹ interests, and help them explore and deepen their understanding of every topic taught.
Students are individually welcomed into their classroom by their teachers at the beginning of each school day, to support smooth transitions between home and school.
Years 1-3
Years 1-3 are led by dynamic class teachers who bring a rich and powerful foundation to the core curriculum, supported by a range of subject specialist staff.
We teach students how to think, rather than what to think. Our teachers are experts in their fields who educate beyond the confines of an age-related curriculum. It is a challenging environment that our students enjoy. They develop analytical, creative mindsets and achieve higher than the national expectation for their year group.
Students dive into a range of traditional and contemporary skill-based subjects in the Middle School. The variety expands their knowledge, and strengthens the confidence, interpersonal skills and humility they need for the years ahead.
Extensive coverage of core and EBacc subjects prepares our students for progressing to their GCSEs. Around a third of curriculum time is dedicated to English, Mathematics and Science; a further third to the English Baccalaureate subjects of Spanish, French, History,
Geography and Computer Science; and the final third to sport, performance and enrichment subjects.
By giving students the freedom to pursue a variety of interests they cultivate the confidence, self-discipline and awareness they need to succeed in life.
“Reddam House Berkshire follows in the footsteps of its worldwide family. The zest, curiosity and unwavering energy are felt throughout Reddam Middle Schools across the globe.”
Year 10 – Year 13
Age 15–18
– GCSEs – HPQ & EPQ – A-Levels
The Senior School offers a secure foundation for progressing to higher education and beyond. The facilities are outstanding, but itʹs our committed staff, who know the students so well, that are key to success. Our broad and dynamic curriculum provides an excellent platform for GCSE and A-Level choices. Students are challenged and engaged, exploring their chosen subjects at a depth that secures exemplary grades. Outside the classroom, they extend their learning through an impressive range of extracurricular opportunities.
Subjects fall into different categories at GCSE level. Students study Maths, English (Language and Literature), Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as standard, and then choose a further five subjects from a selection of options that include Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Drama, Art and Design, Dance, Physical Education, Media Studies, Business Studies, and Music.
When students reach Sixth Form, they choose four specialist subjects to study at A-Level. Options available include English Literature, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Business, Economics,
History, Geography, French, Spanish, Computer Science, Art and Design, Drama, Dance, Physical Education, and Music. Students may revert to three subjects during the Autumn term if they wish.
We strongly encourage students to take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Highly regarded by universities, the EPQ is an academic extension that sees students work independently to produce a piece of work on a subject of their choice. Not only is the EPQ an indicator of a student’s readiness for university, but it also provides interesting collateral for university statements, CVs and job applications.

Our Challenge and Extension programme is an integral feature of our schools and is accessible to all students, regardless of ability. The programme is woven into the fabric of school life, permeating our curriculum and co-curricular programme. Structured to develop a mindset for learning, students build resilience, celebrate individuality and talent, and learn to take ownership of their own successes.
From the ELS through to Sixth Form, teachers provide a stimulating learning environment, where all students are engaged and consistently achieve outstanding results.
Tests are important. They give us insights into how well each student is learning, highlighting areas of strengths and weaknesses, and helping them to work well under pressure. That’s why, every Monday morning, all students from Year 4 upwards sit a test. It’s part of our Cycle Test programme and ensures we’re able to give each student the help they need, where they need it.
Reddam House Berkshire continues to improve and excel academically with GCSE and A-level results that far exceed the national average.

Sport develops camaraderie, teamwork, empathy, and determination, which is why it forms one of our three educational pillars.
All students have the opportunity to represent the school at competitive inter-school fixtures and at our popular inter-House sportsʹ competitions. Some of our most popular sports are Football, Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Swimming and Athletics.
Alongside our sports’ offering, we are proud to run our Aspire to Be (A2B) programme which teaches students the value of nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise physiology.
We are fortunate to have some exceptional sports fields and facilities at Reddam House. They include:
• All-weather Astroturf
• Football pitches (5)
• Rugby pitches (5)
• Cricket pitches (3) and pavilion

It empowers students to think on their feet, speak out and lead, and helps them foster strong research, oratory and listening skills that they will carry with them for life.
Those who study Dance complete termly units of work and follow the RSL Jazz Syllabus. They have the opportunity to enter annual exams, to study Dance at GCSE and A-Level, and to choose it as an extracurricular activity. Lessons in Dance are open to everyone and include choreography, performance, ballet, tap, contemporary, street dance, jazz, and ballroom.
Music is an integral part of Reddam House. Every student is encouraged to learn a musical instrument, and join our choirs, instrumental groups, and productions.
Whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes, there are plenty of opportunities for students to become part of a creative team in the many productions we put on in our 350-seat Harriet Walter Theatre each year.
Our art curriculum invites students to experiment in sculpture, photography, pottery, printing, and acrylics, as well as drawing and painting. Art is taught in our magnificent light-filled studio –a fitting setting for creative minds.
—
We have an enthusiastic Outdoor Adventure Department that oversees our Combined Cadet Force (CCF). It’s here that students learn military skills, and find the confidence, resourcefulness and initiative that sets them apart as future leaders.
Our CCF programme begins in Year 9. Cadets work towards their Basic Proficiency Certificate, and progress to more advanced topics in Year 10.
Involvement is voluntary from Year 11, when Senior Cadets extend their
