A couple of Boy Scouts were recently indicted for doing some very un-Boy Scout-like things, namely stealing property that belonged to the organization. Jimmy Dale Barnett, 19, of Paradise was indicted Sept. 26 on two counts of burglary of a building, and two counts of theft of property $2,500-$30,000. Brendon Ray Herring, 17, of Boyd was indicted on one count BARNETT of burglary of a building. The two are accused of stealing a number of items, including four ATVs, from the Sid Richardson Boy Scout Ranch at Lake Bridgeport in May. According to the arrest affidavit on file in the case, the burglary happened in the early HERRING morning hours of May 13 at the Scout Ranch. Surveillance video showed a white or silver extended cab pickup on the road pulling a trailer with a ramp entering the campground around 12:26 a.m. and exiting at 1:06 a.m. with at least two four wheelers on the trailer, the affidavit states. The truck returned at 2 a.m. and exited at 3:39 a.m. with more four wheelers on the trailer and unknown items loaded into the truck. On May 24, a school resource officer at ParaSee Theft on page 10A

Infrastructure was the topic of conversation Monday night at the New Fairview City Council meeting, with nearly two dozen residents showing up to voice their concerns about longstanding road problems. The meeting kicked off shortly after 7 p.m. with council members doing their best to follow a new state law that allows
