BIGGER

In Judges 6 & 7, God has chosen Gideon to deliver his people from the Midianites. Gideon started out with 32,000 soldiers and finished up with just 300. This made no sense to Gideon. Gideon had to be freaking out. He had a massive enemy to fight, and God was shrinking his army down to nearly nothing. God demonstrated something to Gideon He wants you to learn. God told Gideon to take the 300 men and go into battle against an entire army of the Midianites. God wasn’t intimidated. He had a plan. When you say, “The enemy is too big!”, God says, “I am bigger!” You don’t have to deny the power of the enemy. Satan is sly, he is cunning, and in this world, he is powerful. 1 John 4:4, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” Your enemies may rise up against you, but Romans 8:31 says, “What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” God was bigger than the Midianites Gideon faced. And… • God is bigger than the sickness you are facing. • God is bigger than the financial pressure you are facing. • God is bigger than the family issue you are facing. Your enemy is BIG, no doubt about it! But, God says, “I am bigger!” His power is greater than anything you are facing.

Mexia’s “Story in a Stocking”

The “Story in a Stocking” program began in Mexia in 1994 by the Gibbs Memorial Library Board. The Library Board members were Caroline Forsythe, Betty Reese, Albert Nabors and Mary Shelby. The “Story in a Stocking” books were originally given to underprivileged children through thru the “Toy for Tots” program. The next year the books were distributed to underprivileged children thru the school district. In 1996, the books were given to every student in PreK – 1st grade. Donations continued to come in for this worthy program. Marking the 4th year of the project, donations had been so generous that Coolidge ISD was included in the program. The newly organized Friends of the Library group took over the project in 1999. The Friends began taking the books to the schools themselves and going to the classrooms Happy to be and reading to the children prior to the distribution of the books. This was a huge success with a part of the the students. The project has grown each year in donations. Your donations to the project may Mexia be mailed to : Gibbs Memorial Library, 305 East Rusk, Mexia, Texas 76667 or dropped Community. off at the temporary location at 315 East Main Street behind the Mexia Civic Center in Ifaccept you are looking for a change in Medicaid residents Downtown Mexia.
