United HomeCare® recently hosted its much anticipated 26th annual Claude Pepper Awards Dinner on November 4, 2021, at Jungle Island, featuring a cocktail reception and auction with more than 380 guests in attendance including community leaders, dignitaries, partners, and supporters, joined by Presenting Sponsors, TD Bank and Simply Healthcare Foundation, and emceed by the incomparable Laurie Jennings. United HomeCare’s President and CEO, Carlos L. Martinez, and Chairman of the Board, José K. Fuentes, welcomed guests in joining them and the Fox Family for a Celebration of Life and Special Tribute in honor and loving memory of United HomeCare’s Founding President and CEO, José Raul Fox, who sadly passed away this year.

The nonprofit organization’s signature event honors the memory of U.S. Senator Claude Pepper, who advocated on behalf of the elderly, and awards South Florida’s champions of aging. Individuals and corporations honored exemplify the spirit and ideals of the prestigious awards' namesake and champion for the rights of the elderly.

This year, United HomeCare celebrates 48 years of improving the lives of tens of thousands of elderly residents in Miami-Dade County. United HomeCare's fundamental mission is to provide clients with the dignity, independence, and compassionate care they deserve. Throughout the Pandemic, United HomeCare® has continued its commitment to our community and been on the frontline every day to deliver proven quality care to the most vulnerable and underserved populations in our community while carrying on Claude Pepper's legacy at what has become a signature gathering of South Florida's most dedicated elder care advocates over the past 26 years.

There are many causes you can give to, but do not forget the elderly. Older adults need our advocacy and support too. As the late Senator Pepper once said, “They need much, and they deserve much.”
