Dionysus Drive-Thru Parade Benefits Local Non-Profits
The Krewe of Dionysus has been parading through the streets of Slidell for the last 36 years and helping non-profits raise money along the way. While this last Mardi Gras was a bit different, it didn’t stop the all-male Krewe from getting creative to keep the spirit alive. The Krewe teamed up with Trinity Banquet Hall and created a parade that was designed to be stationary, inspired by the recent “Celebration in the Oaks.” Joyful paradegoers stayed in their cars to drive by the floats and receive sanitized “throws” from the Krewe, while local restaurants provided food. All of the proceeds were donated to benefit Hospice House and STARC and the smiles were as abundant as the money they helped raise.
