ALASKA STATE FAIR
From quilting and sewing to honey and beekeeping to baked goods and local art, hundreds of exhibitors show off their crafts, with plenty of competitions, too: giant produce, the Diaper Derby and Toddler Trot, Beer Tap, Beard Contest and more.

TESSELAAR TULIP FESTIVAL
Head to the town of Silvan in the Yarra Ranges this month to witness over 900,000 tulips paint the landscape. Enjoy live entertainment, wander around the gardens, and indulge in traditional Dutch foods and other treats.

MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL
Also known as the Mooncake Festival, this Chinese celebration is a harvest festival where locals and tourists watch the full moon, take part in family reunions, and indulge in mooncakes and other delicacies.

Oktoberfest, the world’s largest celebration of Bavarian culture (and its beers and brats) is back. If you’re lucky to celebrate it in Munich, head straight to Theresienwiese where Oktoberfest has been celebrated for over 200 glorious years.

Hobbit Day celebrates the birthday of the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, two fictional characters in J. R. R. Tolkien's popular books, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings

Also known as Golden Week, this is one of the most highly anticipated holidays in China outside of Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. Expect elaborate parades, fireworks, and other festivities.
