The idea was to make a structure which contained a covered space to be in. The concept of being covered inside a space of transparent walls was executed with a tunnel going around the space as a spiral. This made the plastic less transparent making the space in the middle to be more intimate. The structure is executed with different techniques such as a difference in both height and texture. This meant that the tube around the space in the middle gradually became smaller, forcing people inside it to correspond with the structure and be aware of their own body size within the structure. This also made the space inside more pleasant because it was big enough for people to stand up again. The tube was covered by plastic all the way around, but the space in the middle was only covered by plastic on the walls and in the top, leaving the ground to stand or sit on with grass. In this way we invited the surrounding nature inside the construction which was important to us because nature was always visible due to the transparency of the material.

PLANNING

BUILDING

With correspondence with the other group we agreed upon some different parameters to build the two structures from in regard of making the two structures blend together. For both groups the concept of a covered space inside the structure was ideal but still they had to be formed differently. In the other group this lead to a space in the middle of their structure with access from a zipper. Our space was constructed more like a dome and was therefore different from the others but both spaces incorporated grass in the bottom inviting nature from the outside inside the structures making the spaces have coherence. Another thing was the height differences. It was important to both groups to make people interact with the structures which lead to the height differences in both structures. In regard to this, it was important that both groups made the height of the structures the same at the place where the structures had to meet. As a final thing it was important that the expression of the two structures had to correspond with each other. Therefore we agreed upon the organic form as a way of making the structures blend together as one united whole.
