Strengthening Family Business is the core of our mission The Institute for Family-Owned Business (IFOB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the success of family-owned businesses in the State of Maine. To accomplish this mission we have developed four affinity groups. These groups meet several times a year for networking and discussion on issues of interest to members. Space is limited and advance reservation is required for many of these groups. Our Affinity Groups include: CEO Central – A facilitated roundtable discussion designed exclusively for family business CEOs. This group meets five times a year and the future dates are Tuesday, July 25, September 26 and November 28, 2017. Sponsored by Mainebiz. Women’s Leadership Forum – A facilitated roundtable discussion with fellow women in leadership roles in family business. Our goals for this forum include support, encouragement, inspiration and information. This group meets several times a year and the future meetings are Thursday, September 14 and November 9, 2017. Sponsored by Key Private Bank.

Women in Family Business – and Kim Burnham A series of programs designed by women focusing on education that is important and useful to them. This group meets several times a year with a variety of programs. New for 2017, we’re inviting the men to two programs. The summer kicks off with our women’s “Wine & Nine” series on Tuesday, July 11 for 6 weeks at the Nonesuch River Golf Course. All skill levels are welcome and if you’re a beginner, we’ll include the clubs and instruction too! Our Women in Family Business fall programs are Thursday, September 7 where we’re inviting the men to “Finding your Voice”, we then have a women’s program on Tuesday, September 19 for a creative Paint Nite and on Thursday, November 2 is our Maine Women Magazine panel. Sponsored by Baker Newman Noyes. Next Generation – All generations working in a family business benefit from the information provided in these meetings. Participants learn: communications, transitions, generational management styles, balancing family and family business, and more! We have two peer advisory groups that meet six times a year with two additional open sessions. The next open program will be on Thursday, September 28 called “10 Leadership Practices that Positively Impact Employee Motivation and Profitability” and a Social on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Husson University.
