ISE success sets the bar for 2012 Biggest ever ISE may top 34,000 visitor registrations by end Speaking at an impressively staged conference minutes before the opening of the Integrated Systems Europe 2011 show floors yesterday, Mike Blackman – managing director of Integrated Systems Events – announced that pre-registrations had already passed the 30,000 mark. By the close of business on Thursday, Blackman predicted, total visitor registrations were likely to stand at around 34,000. This would be 19% higher than last year and an all-time high for the ISE event. At the start of his address, Blackman quoted the American statesman Henry Kissinger’s dictum: “Each success only buys an admission ticket to a more

KNX controls all in home Interview with Heinz Lux, director of KNX Association International. Describe your organisation’s involvement at ISE. What do you hope to achieve? Our plan is to demonstrate conclusively that KNX is capable of controlling all the
application areas in a house, including the audio/video elements. KNX is a worldwide standard for home and building control, used by more than 220 manufacturers from 30 countries. We will also show how KNX has adapted the technology to the new devices that have come to the market, such as how an iPhone can be used to control home and building automation via KNX. This new app – which also runs on the iPad and iPod – can be seen exclusively on our booth at ISE. Heinz Lux

Drive for international members gets ISE boost CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) is leveraging the opportunities afforded by ISE’s extensive visitor base to further its drive for increased membership across Region 1. The trade association has already derived impressive results from its bid to attract further members across the Region 1 territory of Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, India and Pakistan. It has confirmed the Region 1 membership of Samsung and Panasonic during the show. Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are among the latest countries to have ascended to Level 2 status – meaning that they each have in excess of 10 members – while non-UK countries accounted for 60% of all new members last year. Wendy Griffiths, executive director of CEDIA Region 1, told The ISE Daily that the organisation is seeking to enhance its relevance to non-English-speaking markets. In addition to making information and resources available in other languages, the process entails “taking on board the different elements of each market, and the fact that different markets have [contrasting expectations]. “There is no such thing as a standard CEDIA member, echoed CEDIA chairman Robert Hallam. The organisation is underlining its international focus by holding a

series of country-specific international receptions on its ISE stand (1M66). The Netherlands, South Africa, Scandinavia, Italy and France are among the targets of CEDIA’s mission to convey the ways in which it can support members with additional business, education and marketing benefits. Griffiths and Hallam also reported details of no fewer than 13 first-time exhibitors for the next edition of CEDIA’s Home Technology Event. For more details, see tomorrow’s edition of The ISE Daily.

A revolution… from your desktop The demand for managed/hosted videoconferencing services is likely to increase substantially over the next few years, according to Edward Cook, CEO of AVM (Audio Visual Machines). Cook was speaking during the first day of the Wainhouse Research-organised Visual Communications Summit, which was brought to ISE for the first time this year. Several factors are helping to boost the adoption of videoconferencing technology, not least increased user confidence. “It has become easier for the end-user in the same way that IT has,” he observed. But as videoconferencing steers evermore firmly in the direction of desktop-based applications, there will be a parallel increase in the demand for service management. Disparate systems and interoperability issues are among the factors likely to encourage end-user companies to adopt managed/hosted services. Stepping in for Polycom’s Stefan Karapektkov, Wainhouse Research cofounder Andrew Davis addressed the subject of voice and visual collaboration services. Many of the existing services are being developed primarily for data. Accordingly “there needs to be a lot of work done on both sides: [from] cloud service [providers] and voice/video vendors,” concluded Davis.

DiSCO delivers “It’s not just about the excellent presentations,” said Adrian Cotterill, editor of dailydooh.com, summarising Monday’s Digital Signage Conference, “it’s about the coming together, the sharing and the networking.” DiSCO attracted a record number of registrations, up 20% on last year. In typically provocative form, Cotterill told DiSCO attendees that “much of what you’ll see in digital signage is a waste of time” and pointed the finger at products apparently designed by engineers. The day had concluded with two contrasting presentations – one looking at digital signage in possibly the world’s best known retailer, while the second looked at how the needs of small/medium enterprises could best be addressed. Andrew McCall’s company ROI Team had been asked by Harrods to analyse whether the store’s investment in high quality digital signage content was delivering a return in terms of changing shopper behaviour. McCall described how three types of

communication had been used – cognitive, using the written word; emotional, using only moving images; and a combination featuring the two – and shopper reaction analysed over the course of 437 interviews. The analysis revealed conclusively that those shoppers who had been exposed to communications with the strong emotional content of which digital signage is uniquely capable expected to spend more in the store because they felt better about the shopping experience. The last presentation of the day was delivered by Daniel Urruchua of :tmtfactory. In response to the significant role played by small and medium businesses in driving the world’s economy, and thus its potential as a market, his company has created a simple, all-in-one package that makes it easy for them to take advantage of digital signage, at a cost from only 110 per month. “The important thing is to bundle technology, configuration and content all into a single package,” he said.

ISE sets the bar MediaWall RGB Spectrum has chosen ISE to introduce its dealers to a new entry level MediaWall ahead of launch in May. It is the first time anywhere that the MediaWall 2900 has been shown. It features eight inputs and four outputs and overlap for edge blurring, running on a hardware processor rather than a PC. Tony Spica, VP, sales for RGB said: “The key is that it is easy to install and maintain 24/7 for mission critical applications and retail environments where robust capability is so important. We are using ISE to expose the 2900 to our international dealers before we launch it to the world.” Stand: 3B100
> Continued from page 1 difficult problem.” It was a preface to the observation that ISE’s visitors and the organisation itself were setting increasingly high expectations from each successive event. People were coming from all over the world and “we need to satisfy them,” he said. Key statistics from his address included: 715 exhibitors (12% increase on 2010); 330 press (+22%) and 26,650sqm of net floor space (that is, not including aisles), up 17%. Blackman also highlighted the increasing sophistication of the stands themselves, some of which are double-deckers this year.
The ISE event is not just growing, it attracted 150 new exhibitors, many from China and elsewhere in Asia. The exhibitors are drawn from 38 different countries.
Brähler
Award-winning mic Brähler’s CMic delegate unit, which is part of its DigiMic conferencing system, won a prestigious iF product design award for 2011 in the audio and video category. Given special attention by Brähler at ISE, the CMic is claimed to be the smallest such product on the market. “We believe that microphone consoles and delegates’ units should be as inconspicuous and easy to manage as possible,” explained the product’s designer and Brähler head of marketing and product management, Axel Heppener. “Right from the start, our focus in developing the CMic was on achieving these two goals. “It has a modern design in keeping with boardrooms where design
aesthetics are important,” he added. “We are very proud to have won the iF award.” International experts award the iF prizes in order to recognise reliability and proven design quality. The competition is respected worldwide for its professional quality ratings by an expert international jury. This year’s competition attracted 2,756 entries from 43 countries. Stand: 3D120

KNX controls all in home > Continued from page 1 Why is ISE important to KNX? ISE is one of the most important trade fairs on the KNX calendar, and this year no fewer than 26 KNX members will be exhibiting at the show. This is undoubtedly a good sign for the market. We think that not only integrators and installers but also end users will find the new developments very attractive because KNX is now capable of fully integrating the entire living environment including home automation, multimedia and IT. As such, our hope for ISE is that it will help us increase the demand for KNX technology.
What do you believe is important that ISE visitors find out about KNX? ISE is well known for its focus on audio and video – but there’s also an important role being played by other applications such as lighting, shutters, alarm, security, ventilation, heating, cooling, air conditioning and water systems. With KNX and the new applications, a user can both see the status of, and control, every application whether he or she is inside or outside the building using portable devices like the iPhone. It will even enable the user to monitor meters and manage energy consumption. That’s all down to the multifunctional KNX interface. Stand: 9F129

Duran Audio
Signage Tour is every day
Bass in a space Well known for its Beam Steering technology, used to tame otherwise unintelligible acoustic conditions, Duran Audio has launched what is said to be the world’s first programmable ‘differential’ loudspeaker, as an addition to its Axys range. The B215DIFF is part of the Axys family of beam shaping subwoofers, and whereas other subwoofers in the range are designed to be components within a larger array, the ‘DIFF’ is an all-in-one solution, said to be ideal for theatres and clubs. The unit uses one 15in driver facing forward and one backwards. This is combined with on-board
DSP and Duran Audio’s Beam Shaping Subwoofer technology. The result is said to be ‘an amazing level of control’, which allows several radiation (dispersion) patterns to be selected from one compact subwoofer array. Stand: 11C84
Projecting success Sanyo From Sanyo at this year’s ISE is the new PLC-HF15000L, equipped with a four-lamp hot swap system, producing 15,000 ANSI lumens. Colour reproduction uses a fourth LCD panel to separately control yellow light within the optical engine, which expands the number of projected colours by 20% and, says the company, results in increased colour purity. Native 2K resolution ensures accurate projection of detailed images, while inorganic LCD panels produce intense blacks of a high contrast ratio. Constant Light Output Control and an integrated Edge-Blendingfunction ensure an eye-catching 360 panoramic projection, with 14,300 x 1,080 pixels currently being thrown onto more than 120m2 live on the Sanyo stand.
The new PDG-DWL2500 extreme short throw projector, meanwhile, is principally designed to be wall mounted above an interactive whiteboard, though is equally suited to desktop or floor projection, providing large crisp images from extreme short throw distances. It provides 2,500 ANSI, native WXGA resolution, although can be switched to a 4:3 aspect. Connectivity options include HDMI, two VGA terminals (one switchable for monitor re-drive) as well as composite and s-video. An integrated 10W speaker provides sufficient audio for the classroom environment, while network monitoring and control with e-mail alert, enables the projector to be managed remotely. It is also 3D compatible. Stand: 10I116
Run by OVAB Europe – the digital out-ofhome association – is the ISE Digital Signage Tour. This is an educational framework, helping visitors understand and experience the full range of DOOH applications on the show floor. The tour is organised in collaboration with Minicom Digital Signage, and embraces: content; screens; software; extensions; totems and audience measurement, along with other technologies. The tour is free and begins at 11:00 each morning. The start point of the tour is the ISE Digital Signage Showcase. Stand: 10N116
New interactive voting system IML/Fleetwood Group Fleetwood Group and IML Ltd have allied to develop a new audience response system which is available now and viewable on the Fleetwood stand. The IML Click interactive keypad works together with a PowerPoint add-in, IML ViewPoint Express, to extend the functionality of PowerPoint and enable a presenter to include interactive questions as part of a presentation. Audience members can then respond via the IML Click keypads. Richard Taylor, CEO of IML worldwide, said: “We’ve designed this system with affordability and simplicity of use in mind. The software is available in a number of languages and entirely free to download across the globe. Anyone who can create a few PowerPoint slides should be able to use our system.” “One of the most challenging aspects of making any audience response system work reliably is that everything hinges on the speed
and responsiveness of the wireless link,” explained Pat Moody, VP of sales & marketing for the Electronics Division of Fleetwood. “This link has to maintain its integrity even in hostile RF-dense operating environments where the system will have to cohabit with other active 2.4GHz sources of potential interference within a venue, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. “There is simply no room for error in a professional voting situation where every entry absolutely must be counted,” continued Moody. “That’s why we use our specialty RF protocols to establish the private network between the keypads and base station. These communications methods are robust and proven to work reliably time after time.” Stand: 10M148
Kaleidescape The Cinema One ‘out-of-the-box’ DVD movie server is designed to bring the Kaleidescape experience to a broader set of customers. Cinema One is based on the Kaleidescape Mini System it replaces. Features include automatic switching to a simplified user interface when the Child Remote is used; parental control over children’s access; two independent music zones; storage capacity for 225 DVDs or 2,500 CDs; and ease of expansion by connecting another Cinema One or a Kaleidescape player. Michael Malcolm, founder, chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape, said: “Our dealers and customers have been asking for a simple-to-install Kaleidescape System. The Cinema One makes it possible for many more customers to enjoy the richness of the Kaleidescape experience.” The company is also shipping what is believed to be the first Blu-ray movie server. Stand: 1K79
Mdina Media Mdina Media, a Scala platform partner, is launching what the company claims is the smallest fanless embedded digital signage player in the world. The Mini-ITX embedded system measures 17.5 x 18 x 7.2cm, and features SSD drives with SLC technology which eliminates moving parts and thus substantially increases reliability; it is designed for 24/7 operation. Its fanless design also means that it is silent in use. Stand: 12.A85

3D videowall Hyundai IT
Visitors to the ISE 3D theatre, located in the corner of Hall 9, are being treated to a programme of high-quality content, as well as a series of presentations, designed to help attendees to get the best results from 3D equipment.
A Magnetic relationship Avnet Embedded Avnet Embedded has agreed to a pan-European vendor partnership with Magnetic 3D, the US-based developer of glasses-free 3D display solutions for the professional signage market. Under the agreement, Avnet Embedded will bring European customers a complete range of Enabl3DT products from Magnetic 3D that include displays, software and creative services. The available Allura Finished Product Series with Enabl3DT Technology comprises 22in - 57in options, and consists of display solutions that have been developed for general out-of-home
signage. The technology is currently supporting a variety of applications, such as point of sale and exhibitions. “Glasses-free 3D opens up vast new application areas and opportunities for digital signage,â€? said Mats SjĂśbrand, director of Avnet Embedded North Europe and marketing director of displays. “Magnetic 3D’s technology presents exciting opportunities for our customers, who are solution developers and resellers, to deliver extra value and novel products into sectors such as commercial advertising, promotion and public signage.â€? Stand: 11L57
Hyundai IT is demonstrating its full line-up of display solutions at ISE, including what the company describes as the world’s first 3D videowall. With a diagonal of 138in, it comprises nine (3x3) stereoscopic 3D displays (Hyundai’s new S468FL) and features almost seamless bezels giving an inter-screen gap of only 7.3mm. The 3D effect is achieved using polarised filters on both the displays as well as on the passive 3D glasses. The company says that the integrated 3DFormatter makes it possible to display common 3D video formats without any further accessories. For operations in outdoor areas, Hyundai is presenting for the first time an outdoor display with a diagonal of 70in. The company says that its housing (that meets the requirement of IP55 to 65), its intelligent cooling and heating system and its special LCD panels (which can operate in temperatures up to 105°C, making it less susceptible to the ‘blackouts’ that can occur through overheating) make it appropriate for any climate and weather conditions.
Optional features include panels with LED backlight, auto-brightness sensors and touch-screen functionality as well as UV and anti-graffiti protection. Also on show on the Hyundai stand are public displays which are equipped with integrated motionand auto-brightness sensors. If no motion is detected, the display
automatically switches to standby mode. The auto-brightness sensor continuously measures the ambient brightness and adjusts the panel’s brightness accordingly. Transflective panels use the ambient light in order to increase the panel’s brightness. With almost 40% less power consumption compared to ‘regular’ displays, these new panels are said by Hyundai to be much more eco-friendly. Stand: 11I58
MMD MMD, the marketer and reseller for Philips-branded LCD monitors and public signage displays, has announced its new 3D digital signage display. The BDL5231V-3D is said to feature an out-of-screen performance, whereby objects virtually fly in front of the screen, immediately grabbing the attention of the viewer and without the need to wear special glasses. Based on Philips WOWvx3D technology, the 52in BDL5231V-3D is designed to help marketing professionals create a stunning viewing experience. MMD’s 3D displays allow multiple users to view 3D content at the same time, providing a sustainable 3D viewing experience. The BDL5231V-3D uses a new lens design from Dimenco, based on slanted multi-view lenticular lens technology, which delivers a clear 3D image and creates a viewing cone of 150°. In combination with the Dimenco rendering core, the display offers 28 views with smooth cone transitions and enables the user to adapt the optimal viewing distance, depth value and offset value. “The co-operation between Dimenco and MMD has resulted in the best available 3D display in the market, said Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco. “3D will become one of the most important differentiators in the signage market, where quality is key. Stand: 12C80

GestureTek
New dimensions in the man-machine interface With the growing prevalence of video-on-demand services in the home, there is considerable focus on how users will interact with media via screens in the future. Some combination of qwerty keyboard with the traditional remote control is one route, but the intro-
duction of interactive systems from console games manufacturers Microsoft and Nintendo point in another direction. GestureTek has been at the fore-
front of this movement. Its multipatented 3D-vision image control system is a gesture-based user interface for interacting with display screens. The company’s depth tracking software enables users to control onscreen interaction with hand motions instead of a remote control, keyboard or touch-screen. At this ISE, GestureTek is showing its 3D gesture recognition software, which allows people to watch their video image or fullbody 3D avatar while interacting in real time with CG characters and objects. The system is designed to track full-body movement and subtle gestures in 3D space. Stand: 3A92

We ask: Will 3D see the most success in the world of entertainment, or in other areas?
“We have already seen some very interesting developments in the world of 3D. This exciting technology won’t be limited just to the world of entertainment. 3D has much more to offer than ‘just’ to entertain. I am thinking of the already existing 3D printer, which will definitely help to speed up the R&D of various sectors.” Natividad García, chairwoman, Dinitel “3D has really come to stay this time. It has been an interesting technology for the last two to three decades but this time round it is backed up by a full infrastructure of acquiring media, editing and producing content, playback solutions and 3D-ready displays of all kinds.
“Still, one of the main issues is the lack of standardisation when it comes to sync methods, file formats, etc. The first success is obviously in singlescreen applications, as is already happening in cinemas, followed by home cinema, television and computer gaming. “The requirements for large-event, multiscreen shows are somewhat more challenging. I believe 3D stereoscopic will mainly be used as a ‘feature’ or ‘special effect’ in certain parts of the show – at least, until production and playback methods become more streamlined. While 3D’s main breakthrough for the vast majority is in its entertainment value, the technology is already showing its enormous potential in other sectors, such as training and education, engineering, medical and military applications.” Fredrik Svahnberg, marketing director, Dataton

Resolution or evolution? I
t was allegedly the Duchess of Windsor, the wife of England’s King Edward VIII, who remarked that a woman could never be too rich or thin. A comparable maxim in the display industry might be that you can never have too may pixels. But, realistically, do we now have as much screen resolution as we need? The answer, inevitably, is: ‘yes and no’. “The vast majority of projectors are still used in pretty basic ways,” says Mike Fisher of Futuresource. “If you bear in mind that 85% of the commercial EMEA market for projectors is still SVGA or XGA, it helps to put resolution in perspective. While there is certainly an increasing trend towards higher definition formats, 1080p and WUXGA resolutions only account for less than 1% of sales.” The average PowerPoint presentation doesn’t benefit from HD resolution. As long as low resolution projectors are significantly less expensive than their more capable counterparts, it seems likely that XGA and SVGA will continue to be the mainstays of the industry. But in PowerPoint presentations, image detail is rarely an issue. For sophisticated applications such as medical imaging or CAD, however, it certainly is. Here, as Bob Raikes of Meko points out, the resolution needed is a function of viewing distance and screen size: that’s why many claimed that 4K (4,096 x 2,160) resolution, not 2K (2,048 x 1,080), was the only appropriate technology for digital cinema. Conversely, at small screen sizes, it can be difficult to tell the difference between 1080 and 720 resolution. “In the short term, higher resolution means getting rid of all traces of pixellation,” notes
Ian McMurray asks leading industry observers how much more screen resolution we really need – and why How much resolution you really need partly depends on your application, in addition to other factors
If effective resolution is a function of viewing distance and screen size, what are the applications for higher resolution displays? Richard Cobbold, chairman of The Screen. “In the medium term, as we see more larger format displays all around us, the issue will keep coming back. 1,920 x 1,080 is great for a 20in desktop monitor but pretty low if you are working close up on an 80in display.” Certainly, elimination of the‘screen door’ effect that plagued first generations of VGA resolution projectors has been a driver in home theatre projectors and displays, where a ‘film-like’ appearance was the holy grail – and as video plays an increasingly important role in commercial AV applica-
tions, it is no less applicable there. Inevitably, 3D comes into this story too. For some 3D implementations, the requirement is that half the pixels address the right eye, the other half the left eye. With a 1,920 x 1,080 screen, this means that the resulting image is, in effect, only half a full HD image. For full HD in 3D, screen resolutions of 3,840 x 2,160 will be required. Screens of that resolution are already shipping. “It is a paradox,” says Paul Gray, director of TV market research at DisplaySearch, “that desktop monitors are getting larger, yet resolu-
tions are not increasing. However, with notebooks increasingly replacing desktops, screen size s also reaching a plateau for productivity tasks.” Inevitably, Apple’s retina display is capturing many imaginations as an exemplar of what displays could look like in the future – although questions about its scalability remain. For the time being, it seems we have all the resolution we need – but that’s not to say that the industry won’t provide us with more: not necessarily because we need it, but because the industry can.
“1080p and WUXGA resolutions only account for less than 1% of sales”
Control room developments Vtron In line with developments in the control room systems market, Vtron is exhibiting the full range of Visionpro LED video wall products, which include XGA, SXGA+ and the latest 1080P systems. There have been a huge amount of big projector gigs for Italian company Stark in recent months, but the celebrations of Vietnam’s 1,000th anniversary back in the autumn were undoubtedly some of the most impressive. Over in Hanoi, visual designer Paolo Buroni and his team – co-ordinated by Sabine Linder – worked together on the artistic and choreographic parts of the show, which narrated the history of the country through the four elements of nature, using a large scale technical deployment of hundreds of image and lighting effects projectors. As a result the entire playing field and the actual structures of the stadium itself where the event took place were frescoed with images projected by 60 Stark Live and Revolution projectors. Stand: 9G142
New software is simple to use SpinetiX Fusion, the new digital signage software application from SpinetiX, is receiving its first major public showing here at ISE. Designed to dramatically simplify the implementation of small-scale signage projects, it is installed on every SpinetiX HMP Hyper Media Player. Fusion allows content to be managed via a web browser interface and can therefore be accessed either locally or remotely using a PC, Mac, Linux or iPad platform – or any combination of these. Once connection to the HMP has been achieved, SpinetiX says that content can be uploaded, edited and published with minimal technical skill and in record time. “While larger digital signage or advertising networks are likely
to be run by network personnel with a certain amount of specialist knowledge, small-scale and singlelocation rollouts are different,” said Serge Konter, marketing manager, SpinetiX. “Our objective with Fusion was to embed a digital signage application that works instantly and allows system setup to be completed by the installer or the end user, regardless of their technical expertise or skill level,” Konter added. “We estimate that, in most situations, it will take less than 30 minutes for an initial setup to be completed under the Fusion application.” Because Fusion is installed on every HMP and no additional software is required, there are no subscription licence fees for users to pay. Stand: 12B88
C-nario signage for SMBs In addition to Messenger 3.4, C-nario is showcasing its digital signage solution for SMBs. The company says that the C-sign solution enables users to upload all types of content easily, then schedule the content and manage it through a web browser with a user-friendly interface, from anywhere at any time. C-Sign is a boxed solution comprising hardware and software. Stand: 12E91

News Analysis
“Most customers want minimal capital expenditure and a clear understanding of total cost of ownership”
Ian McMurray looks at the growing trend towards ‘Software as a Service’
Silver linings for clouds in digital signage SaaS has proven a popular option in the digital signage market, so why is it not yet universally implemented?
Dark skies but the Cloud uses ‘dark fibre’ for huge bandwidth
n December, Google unveiled its first branded netbook. Driven by Chrome OS, it is the embodiment of Google’s vision of a future in which everything exists in the Cloud. Expected to be commercially launched in the middle of this year, it has once again focused attention on where applications and data will reside in the future. Cloud-based computing is at the heart of SaaS – Software as a Service – which has found significant favour in the digital signage market. “Today, SaaS probably has a market share of around 40% – but we expect that it will rapidly reach 90%,” says Oliver Schwede of Invidis Consulting, which is ISE’s digital signage partner and is responsible for the organisation of DiSCO, the Digital Signage Conference at ISE. That’s remarkable growth by any standards – but then, SaaS is a compelling proposition because it ticks so many boxes. Increasingly,
I
businesses are focusing on their core competencies – and, typically, running a digital signage network is not one of those. With SaaS, initial outlay is minimal – and that’s attractive to financial directors looking to minimise capital expenditure. “We expect the concept of the on-premises licence will disappear and will be replaced by monthly payments that are based on usage,” continues Schwede, who also speaks for trade association OVAB Europe, which is jointly behind the DiSCO conference. “What most customers want is minimal capital expenditure and a clear understanding of total cost of ownership. Even though SaaS will typically mean a higher total cost of ownership, that disadvantage is more than offset for them by the advantage of lower capital expenditure,” Schwede adds. SaaS also resonates with the growing desire to be able to access anything from anywhere – which means that web-based paradigms are enormously attractive. And while digital signage may appear to have become mainstream, there are still potential users who are uncertain about the future. “It will continue to be important for suppliers to dynamically adapt their infrastructure and gives their customers the ability to expand or shrink networks dynamically,” notes Schwede. Beyond that, there is the peace of mind that comes to IT depart-
ments who do not have yet another system that requires to be maintained, patched, updated and supported. But if SaaS is such a compelling proposition for digital signage users, why is it not yet universally implemented? The key reason given by industry commentators is concern about security and loss of control: many major organisations feel uncomfortable in principle with the idea of third-party storage of data and management of services. Some also note that, as digital signage becomes more event-driven by local triggers – consumer interaction – it will be hard to deliver an appropriately engaging experience from the Cloud. Beyond this: as users become more confident, and digital signage becomes not ‘me too’ but a differentiator, potentially with mission critical characteristics, will they want to take more control – implying that management of the digital signage system moves in-house? Given the momentum behind it, it is hard to disagree with Schwede in his forecast that SaaS will become pervasive in digital signage. However, it seems likely that the SaaS model will continue to evolve in line with users’ increasing sophistication and expectations – not to mention the growing capability of the technology.

Vox Pop We ask: What do you identify as the most significant factors in the growth of ISE as an event?
“The complexity of today’s systems and the speed at which they’re evolving is forcing industry professionals to invest more time in self-education. Be it through product knowledge shared informally on the exhibit floor, or the certification programs formally offered, ISE is a premier event for helping professionals to stay up to date.
“The rise of superior digital video from the new H.264 standard and the introduction of the ISE’s Digital Signage Zone have attracted record numbers of AV integrators, who realize that the rapid advancement of these technologies can help them become more efficient, reduce costs, and maximise revenue.” Joe Gaucher, CTO and executive vice president, Haivision Network Video
We ask: Which market sectors within the overall EMEA integrated systems market are the strongest performers at the moment – and why is that?
I’d say the two strongest contenders are digital signage and digital scenography for multiple screens in public and cultural installations. The introduction of low-cost software media servers, based on standard PCs, IP networks and display technologies, has helped reduce the technical obstacles, and increased the production opportunities for creative, unusual and eye-catching new display set-ups - at an affordable budget.
Adopting digital media trends, and utilising the rapid technology advances in standard computers and portable touch-tablets for professional applications, has completely revolutionised the possibilities for interactive and preprogrammed multi-display experiences. There is much greater awareness among clients about the commercial and entertainment potential of digital signage and scenography, and that also drives this sector forward. Fredrik Svahnberg, marketing director, Dataton
Jupiter Systems Display wall processor expert Jupiter Systems has brought its new Fusion Catalyst to ISE and simultaneously announced availability of the range in the Middle East and India. The Fusion Catalyst processors deliver up to 192Gbps of internal bandwidth to carry a vast number and variety of video signals, and drive ultra-high resolution displays. It can handle 376 analogue or streaming SD video inputs, 94 DVI/VGA or HD component video inputs, and 96 graphic outputs, via drag-and-drop user interface. This is ‘unique in the industry,’ claims Jupiter. It adds that Fusion Catalyst is ‘the only processor to handle dual-link DVI (up to 2,560x1,600 resolution) on both input and output.’ Stand: 2C40
Aavara
HDMI over IP debut Any company planning to deploy high definition video - such as is increasingly typical of digital signage applications - is almost certainly considering HDMI. Exhibitor Aavara is showcasing its PB5000, which allows HDMI to be transmitted over IP. “Our innovative
EasyVideo Channel Matching’ technology, which only needs a low cost unmanaged gigabit switch to achieve multi-casting, also removes the need to understand complex network settings and switch
management – which in itself is a substantial benefit,” said Nick Hsu, a director at Aavara. “Multi-casting can still be achieved using a managed gigabit switch – with 802.1Q VLAN function – which provides control remotely, and also allows for more video source/senders to be shared.” Using Gigabit Ethernet network switches, it can also support p o i n t - to - p o i n t (with IR pass function), point-to-many broadcasting and multi-casting, allowing multiple video sources with PB5000 Senders to stream to multiple TVs and projectors, using the PB5000 Receiver. news Universal Champion Electroacoustic Technology
Vox Pop We ask: What are the drivers and inhibitors when it comes to the adoption of IP as an integration tool?
“More and more AV systems are now connected to the internet. One driver is that so much content is now available online (music, movies, even live events and programming), making the internet an integral source of media. “The wide variety of source component options and potential complexity of integrating a strong IP-content experience into AV systems has brought a new revenue stream to professional installers. Furthermore, IP provides a tremendous amount of benefits to a professional installer in system maintenance, monitoring, and management. “Many IP technologies allow integrators to remotely troubleshoot and solve customer’s issues, saving time and money for both parties. I suspect that installers who are not yet utilising IP technologies will be doing so in the next two to three years.“ John Benz, marketing manager, Furman (Panamax/Furman is exhibiting with SpeakerCraft)
“There is no question that the industry will have to adopt IP as an integration tool. The main driver in an IPbased world is that standards-based technology dramatically reduces the cost of ownership. “Customer expectations are already set in the corporate and residential markets. End users already have high expectations, as they can manage a plethora of IPbased devices in their own home. In the corporate market, IP provides advantages which have been available to the IT industry for some time now, where servers and other devices are managed globally, with significant cost savings being made. The same can now be done by companies like AMX who manage AV devices, rooms and entire buildings around the globe and can report back on their status and functionality.
“The main inhibitor to the wider adoption of IP is that the skill-set required is not always available in some parts of the professional AV industry. For more technically orientated integrators already involved in VC and collaborative technologies, IP is already a way of life, but for many others they need to train their people quickly. We already see customers requesting specific skill-sets from integrators and partners in tenders and project selection. In a world of AV and IT convergence, you need to trust that your people can talk in the same language, no matter which discipline they come from. Kevin Morrison, managing director, AMX Europe
“The TCP/IP protocol is the global language of information and communication technology. This is, for the first time, a common platform on which the integration business may integrate the devices of different manufacturers. “”The system integrators and their customers simultaneously also gain access to a multitude of cost-effective devices such as i-devices, smartphones, touch PCs, WebPads etc, that can be utilised for control tasks. “But these new technologies also demand that the system integrators gain new knowledge in the field of IT. If you intend to control devices worldwide, you should also know how the web works. In the residential business, this is not yet the case. “Another impediment is the limitations the existing IT networks are imposing on transmission bandwidths. And many IT administrators will baulk at making their network available for the transmission of voice and pictures. The collapse of many networks would be inevitable. “Forcing high quality signals onto an IT network to then possibly have them compressed in transmission and their quality reduced is also technically questionable. “Therefore: TCP/IP as a communication means yes; transmission medium no.” Rainer Dubiel, product manager and authorised representative, TLS
Enlarged HDMI range Cables and interconnects specialist Peerless-AV has expanded its range with the introduction of longer length HDMI cables, together with a new 270° version of the Slimline HDMI cable. The midrange Delta series of HDMI cables is now available in lengths up to 20m length. These are high speed HDMI Cables with Ethernet, supporting all the features of the latest HDMI 1.4 standard, such as 3D TV compatibility, 4k image resolution support and a 100Mbps Ethernet channel. The new 270° rightangled HDMI connector is described as ‘ideally suited’ to the growing number of flat panel screens with sidemounted HDMI sockets. As with the existing 90° version, 270° right-angled Slimline connector protrudes 14mm from the HDMI socket – compared to 30mm for a typical ‘swivel head’ HDMI connector – with a flat, 3mm thick cable for low-profile installation. Stand: 11H65
Mics for all applications Visitors looking for microphones are heading to the stand of Universal Champion Electroacoustic Technology, a company that appears to have a microphone for every application and environment. Focus of attention this year is the CU-13A USB condenser microphone, which features a large diaphragm capsule with an onboard 24-bit/96kHz A/D converter and USB 2.0 output. The company says it is perfect for recording music or any acoustic audio source on a digital audio workstation, its cardioid pick-up pattern making it ideal for recording vocals and acoustic instruments. The extended frequency response and fast transient response is said to ensure accurate reproduction with linear characteristics from 20Hz-20kHz.
Also on show is the company’s HS-09 mini ear-hanging microphone. Its small size it is said to be practically invisible in use, while its low weight means that typical applications require freedom of movement, such as video and sports/dance instruction. The auriform microphone has a single ear hanger: left ear is standard, but right ear is optionally available. It is said to be comfortable even for those who wear glasses, and an external screen reduces wind noise. The standard finish is a skin tone, although black, white and other colours are available. Stand: 5O128
Lifebelt for wireless mics Sennheiser
Advance frequency planning for wireless systems can only go so far: at festivals and shows with many different artists, and events attracting major media interest, it is very common for another star to be included at the last minute, or an OB team to start broadcasting on a microphone frequency that has not been registered with the event organiser. Broadcasters, sound engineers and RF engineers can now access a new version of Sennheiser’s Wireless Systems Manager (WSM). The upgraded version of the control software for Sennheiser radio microphone and monitoring systems includes a ‘professional set-up’ function. Among its most important features, the Manager automatically calculates the interference-free frequency set for the required number of radio channels, while a lifebelt icon is used to keep a number of back-up frequencies in reserve in
case there are any RF problems on the day. A spare microphone can then easily be synchronised with the reprogrammed receiver. “We hope that, in this way, we can make events a bit less stressful for sound engineers,” explained Sven Boetcher, Sennheiser product manager for professional wireless microphones. The new, upgraded version of the control software for Sennheiser radio microphone and monitoring systems includes a professional setup function. “This makes the WSM an indispensable aid for sound engineers and RF engineers,” said Boetcher. The user simply enters the required number of channels, including back-up channels. Then the WSM scans the radio environment and makes suggestions as to where the microphone and monitoring channels can best be placed. Stand: 2A58

Vox Pop We ask: What are the drivers and inhibitors when it comes to the adoption of IP as an integration tool?
“With more and more devices incorporating Internet connectivity to meet the demand for streaming content, using IP for control and integration simply makes sense for manufacturers. “The only inhibitor we see is the lack of a standardised, specific education regimen that covers what integrators need to know in a quick, concise manner, without the confusing techno-babble associated with most traditional training courses.” Steven Cheung, president, VidaBox “With many products offering an IP link, the carrot of easy installation and the misconception that all the equipment will work seamlessly together often disappoints, particularly when mixing equipment from multiple manufacturers. “Many IP interfaces simply mimic the units normal control functions so the IP link becomes just another method of connection. Above all installers are looking for a simple life and don’t want to spend long peri-
ods setting up IP addresses, worrying about network security and, after all that, being disappointed by the level of control available. “If, along with the IP connectivity, manufacturers would include a basic plug-and-play web browser interface with built-in security to at least get the system up and running, and augment this by including software modules that can be easily incorporated into a control program, this would make the installers life easier and therefore more likely to adopt this approach. Good diagnostic tools are also a must.” David G Tyas, managing director, Ikon AVS and Nebula Audio “The drivers are still unified technology, cabling and integration. It is so much easier to keep systems running if base technology is the same and solutions can be easily integrated at high level. “Cost is probably still the main inhibitor. IP systems are often more costly than ‘legacy’, especially if you do not consider TCO (total cost of ownership) and wiring costs. Installers often argue that the cabling cost is not part of the budget, or they make a lot of money on this, so they are not very eager to use systems that minimise cabling infrastructure.” Johannes G Rietschel, CEO and Founder, Barix
Modero touchpanel On display at the AMX stand is the latest addition to its Modero touchpanel range – the 9in widescreen MVP-9000i. Connectivity 2 captures live AV WolfVision ISE 2011 sees WolfVision holding the first demonstrations of its Connectivity 2 software for its range of desktop and ceiling visualisers. Loaded onto a PC or laptop, the software, says the company, ‘increases the functionality, flexibility and usability of the systems’ by enabling the capture of live and moving images as well as automatically streaming these over a network. As well as recording the visual material, the software is able to record the audio content of a presentation using a microphone feed. As a result, complete presentations, lectures and training courses can be streamed to computers in a lecture theatre, classrooms, seminar rooms and conference halls. As the presentations are recorded and stored, they can be accessed at any time.
In addition, a new integrated annotation feature provides a wide range of painting and writing options for presentation creation. All annotations are included in the recordings. The modular nature of the Connectivity 2 software means that it can be easily tailored to suit users’ individual requirements – from a view-only mode to the complete version with an annotation facility and administration function. The regular firmware upgrades from WolfVision can be done automatically and in parallel if a number of visualisers are in use. The Connectivity 2 software runs under Windows XP, Vista and 7, and is totally compatible with interactive whiteboards as well as TWAIN and WIA. Stand: 1J11

MediaScreen
MediaScreen goes 180° hemispheric
One of the problems that has bedevilled mapmakers for millennia are the compromises they have to make to portray an imperfectly spherical object, the Earth, using a two dimensional system, a map. The Mercator projection, the Peters projection... all of them are guilty of some crime against geography as you can either get the shape of the countries or their sizes right, not both at the same time. MediaSphere 180°, one of the highlights on the MediaScreen stand, could change all that, being a hemispherical projection surface perfect for globes and all manner of assorted spherical objects. Geography lessons will never be the same again. It’s joined by an array of other innovations, such as the Virtual 3D
Realtime TV Engine; a camera tracking system that allows computer generated content and live camera footage to be fused together in realtime and 3D, opening up entirely new possibilities for live shows and studio productions. Or there’s the MediaScreen ScreenBook; a novel touch technology application made from clear acrylic shaped like a lectern with a book sitting on top, thus being eminently suitable for any content that can be presented in the form of book or magazine pages. Finally, the MediaScreen ScreenLifter 85-Lite model is an affordable alternative to the ScreenLifter 85 and ScreenLifter 103 design stands and destined for back-stage uses where function can triumph over form. EclerNet
Matrix over LAN The MIMO88 8x8 digital audio matrix is the latest member of the flexible EclerNet family: a series of digital audio devices which can be configured and controlled from a local network computer or even over a remote DSL connection. The new unit is described as fully programmable and linkable to a second unit to become a 16x16 matrix, with ‘real routing from any input to any output’. It can be configured and managed via Ethernet with the included EclerNet Manager software, which also offers many other control options including Windows-based networked clients (a graphical, custom-made screen for each user), TPNET third-party control protocol for the integration with external control hardware like Crestron, AMX, Extron, Vity, STI, Medialon, Ecler’s WPTouch wall panels and so on. The included EclerNet Manager
software lets the installer create a project in offline mode, including all the required networked devices (MIMO88 matrixes, NZA amplifiers, NPA amplifiers) and configure them according to the installation needs. Once in the field, the auto-discovery and device finder functions are designed to make the installation power up simple, using the graphical drag-and-drop method to link each hardware piece with its virtual equivalent, says the developer. After this, a final touch-up (equalisation, dynamics, delay and other parameters) is all that’s required for the installation to be ready for daily operation. If any faults occur, the system can send an email to a specified address and then system diagnostics can be performed remotely using a DSL connection. Stand: 11H57
Christie Nitro Recently introduced by Christie are the Nitro Solutions digital luminaires – a modular series of motorised moving yokes that can provide up to 20,000 ANSI lumens of video projection. With the optional Xenon or LED lighting heads, the system can produce up to 50,000 lumens of lighting. Nitro Solutions can be installed at ground level or rigged to a truss, and are suitable for building projection, concerts and more. Stand: 1H43/1J45

Arbor Media
NewsGate mobile Wouldn’t it be great if reporters in the field could upload their content directly to the broadcast station, without using any cables or computers? Well, it’s now possible, says Arbor Media. With a special add-on module, reporters can now use their smartphone to record news and instantly transfer the AV material via the central NewsGate system to the stations content archive. The reporter in the field shoots a picture or records an audio/video item. They open the special News-
Gate Applet on their smartphone and after filling in the customised upload form, uploads the item to the broadcast station without delay. The upload form is configurable and can be user group specific. The NewsGate Mobile module is available to any existing NewsGate user, or those wishing to become one. Arbor Media designed the first smartphone applet for the Nokia N95/N97 smartphone, but other popular brands will follow soon, promises the developer. Stand: 3B136
Bittner
Bittner Audio’s new class D 4-channel amplifiers offer a combination of efficiency and endurance, says the company. The design uses discrete power amp modules and no integrated hybrids. The output power is four channels of either 250W or 500W. It has 100V direct output and a connector for 24V backup power with no loss of output power during 24V use. Stand: 6H152
DesignScreenHD
Screen hides itself away ISE 2010 was, it seems, a ver y wor thwhile event for DesignScreenHD so worthwhile that the company is back again for ISE 2011, but with a stand four times as large as last year’s. A young company, DesignScreenHD came to ISE in 2010 to begin the expansion of its business outside France – and as a result of being at the show, signed a distributor in Germany and made excellent contacts in other countries. Once again, DesignScreenHD is focusing on the screen that the company describes as unique and revolutionar y. Responding to the requirement that a screen should not be visible when not in use – but that cabling and ceiling casing can be obtrusive and unsightly – the
company’s screens feature what it calls a triptych mechanism. Said to be the only screens available that are fully tensioned on a fixed frame, they fold, using a patented mechanism the company says must be seen to be truly appreciated, into a third of their extended size. The screen becomes, in effect, completely concealed behind a picture frame which the user fills with an image to complement the room’s décor. Stand: 5Q120
AMC Baltic, a manufacturer of loudspeakers and electronics, says it is focused on the public address and voice evacuation markets. It sells to contractors including Honeywell, Starfelt, Norsk Lydteknikk, ABISS, Digitalemotions, DLP Audio and Audiologic. ISE 2011 sees Nexo debuting the first production models of its new 45 N-12 monitor loudspeaker, which introduces a new concept in stage sound – line monitoring. With its super low profile, the new wedge is designed to appeal to those with concerns about sightlines and camera angles for stage and screen productions. François Deffarges, Nexo’s technical director, commented: “This is actually the first purpose-designed wedge that Nexo has ever made. We believe our design philosophy of line control will offer real benefits to engineers, performers and audiences.”
The 45 N-12 draws on Nexo’s patented Hyperbolic Reflective Wavesource, which is used throughout the GEO range of high-performance loudspeakers. The design works by wavesourcing, creating virtual acoustic sources behind the enclosure itself and below the stage, using reflection rather than coercion to determine the shape of the wavefront. Unlike a conventional high frequency waveguide in which the exit is rectangular, the Nexo monitor’s waveguide forms a ‘smile’, enabling cabinets to be linked together to form arrays without interference between wavefronts. According to Nexo, monitor engineers will find that the N-12 design produces a ‘very sharply defined dispersion pattern’ while simultaneously offering a ‘huge improvement in terms of level before feedback’. Other features include a magnetic locking system joining multiple monitors together, allowing scalability for both coverage and SPL level, as well as a non-slip base with a skid system and ergonomic handle. News Analysis
Sub ticks WAF box ‘WAF’ is an acronym known to many in the home audiovisual world. The ‘Wife Acceptance Factor’ means that AV equipment must complement a room’s décor – or be invisible. Similar aesthetic concerns are, of course, often found in commercial environments. That’s the thinking behind the AmbienTone Sub 1 from in-akustik. Its new in-wall subwoofer is designed to complement the company’s AmbienTone flat panel loudspeakers. The Sub 1 is drywall-fitted in a modified piece of gypsum plasterboard and can be plastered, painted and even wall-papered over. According to the company, the special design of the Sub 1 means
David Davies looks at the dramatic impact 3D TV has made on the consciousness of European consumers, and the latest data suggests that ‘you ain’t seen nothing yet’.
Are 3D TV sales set to go through the roof in EU?
CYP sorts out TV volume variations
Despite the sceptics and doom-sayers, it seems consumers are taking to 3D TV faster than they did to HD when it launched lthough TV commercials have so far tended to emphasise the element of spectacle in the early stages of this new 3D era, there looks to be more to 3D’s second coming than what you might call ‘Avatar, Pixar and sport’. Away from the cinema aisles – where this new technology is already as much a part of the furniture as popcorn and overpriced drinks – there have been some legitimate expressions of concern about the long-term outlook for 3D in the home. Will consumers really be willing to invest in 3Dcompatible systems when so many have shelled out so recently for HD TVs? Might they not be more inclined to prioritise surround sound – or simply wait for the lay of the land to become a little clearer? While a recent UK poll conducted by YouGov for Deloitte found that only 89 of 4,199 respondents were likely to spend money on a 3D-enabled TV set over the coming year, the majority of forecasts suggest that residential 3D is now poised for dramatic growth. Releasing its predictions just weeks after the first 3D TV was introduced into the UK, Kelkoo revealed that 40,000 3D TVs were expected to be sold in the country in 2010, and suggested that the UK 3D TV market could be worth €7.25bn by 2015. Data furnished to The ISE Daily by research organisation Futuresource Consulting in late 2010 further confirms the generally rosy outlook. In Western Europe, 1.1m 3D TVs were
A
expected to be sold last year, rising to more than 3m in 2011. Over the long-term, the 2% household penetration due to be reached by the end of this year may rise towards 40% by 2015. Falling 3D TV receiver prices undoubtedly constitute a significant factor. According to Futuresource, overall prices have dropped by nearly 35-40% in many major markets and are already running at lower than expected levels. “The industry continues with a strong commitment to promoting 3D TV sales, and in most [Western European] markets set adoption is running at a faster rate than for high-definition during its first year,” says Jim Bottoms, director & cofounder, Futuresource Consulting. There are, however, some notable caveats regarding the availability of sufficient content, with Bottoms observing that the number of 3D Blu-ray titles released in 2010 constituted “a cause of major disappointment for the industry as a whole”. Hardware/film “bundling partnerships” may well have added to consumer confusion. Amongst the broadcasters, Sky in particular has led the way in rolling out 3D services, and there is an expectation that more will follow as ownership of hardware increases. But if it’s still relatively early days for 3D in the home, Bottoms recalls a Futuresource event that took place as recently as June 2009 at which “many industry people were saying that 3D TV is still some years away. Look how far we have come!”

Alongside its wireless remote controls and RTiDock, RTI (Remote Technologies Incorporated) is also highlighting the control solutions it has developed for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with the new RTiPanel app. With the app installed on any of these Apple products, the company says users will have complete control of their electronics from the home and beyond. In addition, with RTI’s Virtual Panel, now any PC running Windows becomes an interface for complete system control within the home or anywhere connected to the web. Also on show is RTI’s XP-3 central control processor. With a 532MHz i.MX processor and 128MB of nonvolatile flash memory, RTI says that the XP-3 improves the user experience by providing a higher degree of control and automation than a standalone remote control.
According to the company, the processor offers remarkable value with a feature set that is unmatched in its class, including an astronomical time clock, a built-in ZigBee RF transceiver to allow bidirectional communications with compatible RTI remote controls, and access to the same library of drivers as all RTI XP series processors.
The XP-6 central control processor offers a variety of control options such as RS-232, relay, IP, and routable IR. The processor features support for the RTI 433MHz receivers for one-way RF communication, and ZigBee 2.4GHz transceivers can be incorporated for more sophisticated bidirectional communication with an RTI controller. Technomad
Weatherproof amp Audio specialist Technomad is introducing its PowerChiton4 weatherproof amplifier at this ISE. Capable of producing 1.6kW for 8ohm systems and 1.8kW for 4-ohm systems, the new PowerChiton4 offers more than three times the power of the current highest-power model (500W) in the same compact, NEMA-enclosed package as previously-available PowerChiton amplifier modules. The PowerChiton, with its IP66 protection classification, is a nearly bomb-proof, amplifier-in-a-shell, says the maker. The IP66 rating confirms ingress protection (IP) for persons (electrical safety) and equipment (dust, dirt and water penetration). The latter makes PowerChiton amplifiers suitable for outdoor installations for protection against the elements. The product retains all of these protection features while vastly increasing power, creating new opportunities for designers and integrators to specify and install Power-
Chiton amplifiers within distributed audio systems. Its low-profile, modular design also gives systems designers and
integrators the flexibility to place the amplifiers closer to the loudspeaker, including wall and pole-mount systems, or to install the modules on the back of the loudspeaker with specialised hardware. Stand: 2A57

Nion nE in Europe Peavey
Following last year’s launch of the MediaMatrix Nion nE, Peavey has announced the first shipments into Europe of the powerful new DSP platform. Nion nE is designed for cost-efficiency in mid-market audio signal processing applications. “We are thrilled with the prospect of bringing the depth and flexibility of nWare to the broadest scope of the contracting market,” said Kevin Ivey, General Manager of Peavey Commercial Audio. “The Nion nE provides all of the core capabilities of the Nion platform at a new lower price point, opening the capabilities of the Nionand nWare to a new and larger range of consultants and contractors.” The device will support up to 32 channels of analogue audio, and up to 64 channels of AES digital audio via four
Nio card slots in t he Nion nE frame. It uses the same Nio cards as a standard Nion frame, so users get the same selection and variety of input and output options, including the new Nio-AEC echo cancellation card. The NionnE also accepts CobraNet or Dante digital audio transport network cards, which are optional. “The Nion nE is built on the same foundation as the venerable Nion n6 and n3,” commented Charles Anderson, engineering supervisor, MediaMatrix. “The idea behind the new Nion nE is simple; keep all of the horsepower of the Nion engine, fully support the capabilities of nWare, but reduce the cost to make the MediaMatrix processing and distribution system available to the middle market segment.” Stand: 3A111

Multi-purpose video whiteboard Vaddio What is described as the first highdefinition patent-pending Video Whiteboard has been recently introduced by Vaddio. The new solution replaces the existing need for fixed or PTZ cameras in a video system environment. The Video Whiteboard can be used in a variety of applications, including videoconferencing, content creation, IMAG, rich media systems or in any system designed to incorporate a whiteboard as a video input device. Because no dedicated
PC is required, Vaddio’s Video Whiteboard is compatible with any videoconferencing, telepresence, distance education or video media distribution system. In addition to HD/SD video outputs, data can be captured and stored as a .jpeg image onto any USB flash drive. In addition, the closed operating system means that there are ‘no
hardware requirements, software hassles or operating system issues’. Using Vaddio’s EZCamera cabling system with HSDS, power and USB data are run over a single Cat5 cable up to 30m from the whiteboard to the Video Whiteboard Quick-Connect interface. The Video Whiteboard Quick-Connect outputs DVI/HDMI or analogue component HD video with supported HD resolutions of 720p and 1080i, as well as analogue composite SD video - both NTSC and PAL. Incorporating Luidia’s patented ebeam technology that couples ultrasound and infrared sensors, the presenter’s whiteboard marker penstrokes are captured on the whiteboard surface. Set-up and user whiteboard controls can be found on a digital control panel integrated directly into the whiteboard frame. The Video Whiteboard includes the Video Whiteboard Quick-Connect, four markers (red, green, blue and black), as well as four marker sleeves and one electronic eraser. Two sizes are available: 4ft x 6ft and 4ft x 8ft. Vaddio’s Video Whiteboard is 100% compatible with all existing Vaddio Automated Content Presentation Systems. Stand: 1F92
Jupiter apps rising Symetrix The list of Symetrix Jupiter processor apps is continuing to grow as the company brings out new ones to meet the specialised needs of various types of user. Users simply download a free app from the Symetrix website that meets their requirements, and the Jupiter hardware takes care of the rest. Symetrix has organised its website to help users quickly identify the app that fits their situation. The apps may be viewed by category – such as mixing and routing, public address and distribution, sound reinforcement – as well as by venue, such as home theatres, classrooms and houses of worship. They may also be viewed by the input and output counts of the three Jupiter hardware products: Jupiter 12 (12/4), Jupiter 4 (4/4), or Jupiter 8 (8/8). Trent Wagner, senior product
manager for Symetrix, commented: “Jupiter apps allow us to rapidly adapt the platform to customers’ needs by creating
new apps as requested. These apps feed into a database accessible by all Jupiter users, which makes the product a greater value to integrators as time goes on, all while keeping integrators’ learning, design and configuration time to a minimum.” Stand: 1H81
Adrian Pennington plots a near future where nothing is necessarily quite what it appears to be Things as they are, or things as they AR? In either event, goggles are not normally required for today’s systems
Augmented Reality becomes a mainstream technology his could be the year Augmented Reality (AR) goes mainstream. It’s a field variously estimated at US$350m (ABI Research) to $732m (Juniper Research) by 2014 with others bumping the figure up to $1bn. According to analysts Gartner, AR is one of the top 10 current disruptive technologies – even though the technology has been around since at least the 1970s. In contrast to virtual reality (VR) which consists of a 100% graphical overlay and demands considerable computing power to create rich and believable virtual worlds, AR uses as its baseline the existing world and blends new information into it. Its most familiar use has been as a graphical analysis tool over sports replays or in virtual sets mixing live action with animated graphics in real time. Thanks to the growing penetration of smartphone and mobile computing devices, AR is now being seen as an interactive technology with which consumers and the development community can get to grips. Today AR is primarily used in retail, marketing or theme parks but as technology advances it will be deployed in markets from entertainment and education to information services, surgery and industrial maintenance. The handful of developers involved in AR are clear that
T
With AR set to be worth as much as U$1bn by 2014, it could be time to find out what the delivery medium could bring to your business
there is a business out there to exploit. This might be in the form of virtually exploring and learning about a new product, or a simulated experience, or even presenting digital assets in the physical world to help navigate, inform and bring in new layers of information. One of the best known consumer AR apps has been built by Layar. Given a location and using the iPhone's built-in compass, Layar superimposes a 'radar map' – consisting of details pulled from sources such as Wikipedia, Flickr, Google, and YouTube – onto a picture you've taken of the scene. Other systems employ software running on a standard PC with a webcam which recognises when a marker (a logo, barcode, or any item like a chair) is displayed to the camera, tracks it and superimposes a 3D animated
model or CAD rendered image on top of it. Users can move the item and see how it would ‘look’ on them at various angles, with different colours or designs. From jewellery and watches, this has grown to include all items that can be worn on the body. At London Fashion Week 2010, Carri Munden of male brand Cassette Playa placed augmented reality barcodes among her costumes, triggering 3D animations as each of the models posed in front of a video camera. On screen the audience saw a series of CG helmets, new faces, and flashes of shape and colour adorning the models’ bodies. Markerless system have also been developed in which the user just needs to show a hand or their face for software to recognise the shape and superimpose objects. The Holy Grail is to create a photorealistic image but that is dependent on computing power. We’re not that far away from being able to wear a pair of sunglasses containing a screen and wireless IP connection so that graphics could be overlaid on the real world as we walk around. Contact lenses could act as a visual overlay or immersive displays may appear in 10 to 20 years. AR is a technology on the cusp of moving from gimmick to mainstream utility and its potential has barely been scratched.

Send AV and PC signals over IP Just Add Power The strong points of an IP signal transmission system arise from the transmission of contents that are rich in details, such as Excel charts, says US company Just Add Power, adding that most systems have difficulties in providing an acceptable image quality on a distant screen. E n te r the enhanced ProNET Advanced solution from Just Add Power. ProNET is a HDMI/DVI transmission system that transmits digital signals, including DisplayPort, over a standard IP network and therefore over any distance. The signals are transmitted with a resolution of up to 1080p. ProNET is able to route up to 20 sources to up to 65,000 displays in point-to-point or multipoint-tomultipoint operation, according to
the developer. The signal distribution is apparently affected over manageable standard network switches that are able to prioritise the AV data streams, assuring a failure-free transmission.
Switching between the different sources is carried out quickly and without black screen by intelligent HDCP management, says Just Add Power. Players and displays can be controlled centrally over a bi-directional RS-232 interface and their status can be scanned. All this and more is being demonstrated on the Comm-Tec stand. Stand: 2A50

Clear conference Vox Pop communication
We ask: Which territories within the overall EMEA integrated systems market are the strongest performers at the moment – and why is that?
Clarity, precision and reliability are absolutely essential when important information is shared and decisions made in conferences and meetings. The DCS 6000 from Danish Interpretation Systems (DIS) is a fully digital technology, designed for use in large parliamentary situations as well as smaller boardrooms. Featuring attractively styled microphone units in portable, tabletop or flush-mounted versions, the DCS 6000 system is said to be easily configured and controlled, either from the central unit or the SW 6000 conference management system. All DCS 6000 system components are connected in the DCSLAN with standard flexible shielded Cat5 cables to facilitate ease of installation and maintenance. DIS has for many years co-operated with experienced interpreters world wide and listened to their needs, providing, says the company, the best speech intelligibility. The DCS 6000 handles up to eight active microphones plus 32 interpreted language channels simultaneously. Each delegate may adjust the sound level individually and the
same listening level can be applied on all channels independent of the individual interpreter. The system also offers integration with different audio and video equipment such as cameras, audio and video mixers, and digital recording. Pictured: China’s largest power company, the State Grid Corporation of China recently chose a DC6000 for installation at its regional office in Shenyang city. The fully digital conference system consists of one central unit CU6011 and three units of digital conference unit DC6990P supported by 44 delegate units. Screen mounts stable, movable Among the numerous solutions featured on the Kindermann stand is MaxxMount, described as a stable mount for flat screens or interactive whiteboards with projectors, that is also suitable for mobile use, and features elegant cable routing and motorised height adjustment. Kindermann is presenting a solution with MaxxMount for video conferencing. Kindermann points to CablePort, the modular connection system, and Quickselect, the intelligent interface, as examples of modern media te c h n o l o g y. CablePort allows smooth and flush integration into any conference table, with the newly developed flap ensuring easy access to connection ports.
The modular construction facilitates individual assembly of electricity, AV, data and network connections and, says the company, makes retrofitting very easy. If several CablePorts are in use, Quickselect provides the connection: for example, each participant can transmit his/her presentation from a notebook to the projector, or the leader of a meeting can provide access to connected devices. Kindermann is also showing a heightadjustable conference table, equipped with two displays that can be lifted as required. Laser technology is used to integrate the desktop casings with covers in the design of the table surface, ensuring minimal impact on the surface veneer. Stand: 4O60
“That’s always a bit more of a complicated question to answer than it sounds – especially ‘why’. Business is still being done all over EMEA – athough it’s a lot less easy to forecast than a couple of years ago regarding which markets will grow and which ones won’t. “There is rarely a ‘pattern’ to follow these days, as countries sales can be skewed very noticeably if a couple of big contracts come through in a short space of time. ‘Why’ a market does well or badly in the CI business is always for many reasons; disposable income, house construction methods, lifestyle, traditions and technology infrastructure all play a part. We still enjoy good business in the UK, Benelux, Russia, the Middle East, Scandinavia, Italy, Poland and Switzerland, but across the board, our CI business is up on last year.” Martin Harding, managing director, BMB Electronics “Germany has been by far the best performing EMEA territory in 2010, closely followed by other northern European countries such as Belgium and Denmark. “Southern Europe has generated a lot of enquiries and product interest but this hasn’t translated into sales and the sales and marketing costs for Southern Europe
have exceeded revenues, whereas northern European activities have been moderately profitable “For Calibre, northern European sales have outperformed elsewhere for two reasons – firstly we are traditionally an OEM manufacturer, so our business levels are closely linked to the performance of other manufacturers in our sales territories; undoubtedly northern European manufacturing is recovering much faster than southern Europe. “Secondly we have seen an upturn in integration business. This is partly due to heavy investment in new products at more competitive prices but still with class-leading functionality and performance – also due to significant investment in sales and marketing efforts, with a quadrupling of our tradeshow budget and the opening of a new sales office particularly for sales of Calibrebranded products throughout the EMEA and Asia. “We’ve done well recruiting new distributors in Europe who need something different to sell – something with a margin and something that their competitors don’t have.” Tim Brooksbank, chairman, Calibre UK “All the northern European market. The context there is more favourable for residential home cinema and these markets are more sensitve to large images of high quality.” Eric Suteau, founder and director, DesignScreenHD

Audio controller 2.4GHz The Interact wireless controller from ClearOne allows users to establish and manage an audio conference from a telephone-like controller. The radio link is based on 2.4GHz Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum making it a robust solution against interference, says the manufacturer. The wireless controller consists of a tabletop dialer and a base station. The dialer incorporates a dial pad, room audio control keys, and an LCD creating a familiar user experience. It connects to either the Interact AT or Interact pro audio conferencing mixers. Darrin Thurston, VP of Product Management, Conferencing & Collaboration said: “Users now have the benefit of wireless control for the Interact at a fraction of the expense and complexity of a custom control system.” Stand: 3C121
SMS Any serious PC user will happily talk about the advantages of having a two-screen set-up: the ability to have a web page open for reference while composing a Word document, for example, or two Excel spread sheets side by side for comparison. Really serious PC users – video editors, for example – can always find a use for three screens. But there are power users for whom even three screens aren’t enough – bankers, stock exchange analysts, control centre operators and so on - and for them, SMS Smart Media Solutions has introduced the Multi Control. The Multi Control offers the facility to mount up to eight screens in a gentle curve that takes up minimum desk space. Said to be easy to set up because of its simple and exact edge-to-edge mounting, it is also claimed to make maintenance equally straightforward with all remaining screens remaining operational while one is serviced or replaced. The Multi Point can be mounted on a ‘boomerang’ foot, or a clamp allows attachment to the edge or corner of a desk. Solutions are available for two, three, four, six and eight screen configurations. Screens of 19in are said to allow the maximum degree of adjustment, although the bracket can accommodate screens up to 22in. Stand: 4Q40

news Vox Pop We ask: Which market sectors within the overall EMEA integrated systems market are the strongest performers at the moment – and why is that?
“We’re seeing a move into training and simulation as a strong growth area. It’s environmentally friendly, and is hugely cost saving, both in civil and military applications. In addition, we see a lot of strong growth in visualisation, public and visitor attractions.” Anders Løkke, international marketing and communications manager, projectiondesign “Looking at integrating of multimedia into interiors we, as a producer of LED TFT panels and mirror & glasses surfaces (mirror TV) can say that the hotel market is our strongest application. Especially the mirror TV concept has developed a huge awareness in the hotel sector. “The decision makers and architects are far more educated compared to other segments – and very aware of minimalist design. Also, women do not like visible technology in sleeping environments, so glass has become the number one architectural element for integrated interiors. “So, for technology it is basically ad notam LED TFT panels – 15in and 17in – controlled via Crestron or AMX systems in bathrooms, or 82in for foyers with a conference system and an invisible camera system behind the mirror. “Since we have a special LED TV Panel for glass integration, with no ventilation needed, the designers right now integrate our TVs like crazy behind all kinds of glass elements. It’s not only TVs; digital signage grew last year by 20% for us, helped by the fact that the UMTS flat rates and hardware are now much cheaper than five years ago.” Lars Runne, head of international marketing, shareholder, ad notam
“Transportation and general infrastructure. We think that government spending plans, as well as a move to ‘green’ technologies and additional energy-saving resources are contributing factors to our recent success in these areas.” Johannes G Rietschel, CEO and Founder, Barix “We have seen good sales with our regular products in the 4000 and 8000 series and also the in-wall products. The educational sector seems to be very strong - media schools and also the research sector in universities and in the car industry.” Lars-Olof Janflod, international sales manager, Genelec “The largest growing sectors for us in 2010 were in the areas of video conferencing and broadcast/ production. Our long-time distributors in the EMEA region have bundled Vaddio cameras and controllers with their everyday video conferencing projects. “Our ever-growing product portfolio has given our partners more value-added product for VC applications. In addition, we have added new distribution partners who specialise in broadcast/ production and have positioned the Vaddio operator-controlled systems and WallView CCU cameras systems into a budgetfriendly solution for TV studios and production houses.” Rob Sheeley, president, Vaddio

Three new HQView
IP display processor
ISE is the scene of the European launch of three new models in Calibre UK’s HQView universal video scaler and scan convertor range. Excited about returning to ISE with a vastly increased product range, market support and presence, Tim Brooksbank, Calibre UK chairman told The ISE Daily, “We have the full range of the HQView on show at ISE 2011. This reflects our investment in the last year where we have produced a range of 12 units and appointed several distribution partners to support the range in the professional audio visual and displays market. “This is one product introduction per month and that is such an extraordinary achievement for any manufacturer,” added Brooksbank. “Image warp and blend is what the future is all about.” All three new HQView models accept a wide range of HD, SD and computer inputs with outputs including 3G-SDI, DVI/HDMI, VGA/RGBHV formats plus support for progressive and interlace output modes, genlock to bi-level sync, trilevel sync or black and burst.
Top of the range is the HQView520 comprising warp mapping and edge blend. PA and VA combined Dynacord Professional audio systems vendor Dynacord is introducing the Promatrix 8000 to European audiences at ISE. The unit combines audio reproduction at a professional level with reliable public address and voice evacuation functionality. The product eliminates the need of two separate systems in venues for professional sound and public address/ voice evacuation functionality. Examples of such venues include stadiums, hotels, casinos, universities, sports and leisure facilities and office buildings. By integrating both functions in just one system, configuration and setup are said to be highly efficient and cost-saving. The unit can also act as a standalone public address and/or voice evacuation system. The Promatrix 8000 has a signal-to-noise ratio of 105 dB, surpassing the performance of many professional sound systems and the sound requirements of live concerts. In addition, multi-channel audio routing and multiband equalisation on the fly ensures that customised audio is available throughout the installation.
The heart of the system is a digital network controller that takes care of audio routing and handling of control data. The controller offers digital audio processing and has eight slots for input and output
cards, enabling it to connect to call stations, music sources such as CD players, and stored-message systems. Multiple controllers can be networked to create large solutions that can feed up to 1,000 zones with prerecorded messages, live speech and/or music. Stand: 3E130

Already very well known for its world-beating LED displays, LG will be showcasing more advanced digital displays and business solutions –
To Watch Evolution of Digital Displays From the main entrance of LG’s booth through to its hotel lobby zone, visitors can experience a range of LG’s digital displays. ▪

First up, LG will be showing off the versatility of its products with a range of vivid and multi-sized displays around its booth. Automatic management enabled by LG’s LED Studio software makes the displays very easy to use, while their high-powered lighting ensures they’re perfectly clear to everyone down on ground level.

Optimized Solutions From Shopping to Transportation
At the entrance and hotel lobby sections of LG’s booth, the M4716T and M4214T, the company’s cutting-edge, highly adaptable touch displays, will be also on show. With an industryleading response time of 13.5ms, the M4716T can provide quick, easily controlled information that includes 3D imaging, making it ideal for outlets such as car dealerships.
Visitors will be able to see the exceptional control functions of LG’s displays in the retail shop zone. LG Digital Signage Solution works efficiently and seamlessly with various types of display and media player (PC), making it an integral component of LG’s packaged solutions. Included in this solution is LG’s SuperSign, a practical digital software optimized for small- and medium-sized businesses that makes it easy and quick to create content. With SuperSign, retail staff can focus on taking care of customers rather than worrying about how the shop signs are looking.
At the digital art gallery in the hotel lobby, visitors can enjoy media art installations on LG displays including 72-inch LED and 65-inch LCD screens. Thanks to its 6.9mm bezel – the slimmest on any 40 inch-plus display – the 47-inch LED 47WV30 will show a stunningly

At ISE2011, LG will be demonstrating all its digital displays and business solutions through simulations of real-life settings in a “resort” offering various services. The booth display will lead from a hotel lobby to a hotel room, a conference room, a subway station, an airport and a theater. By using such recreations of everyday scenes, LG is looking forward to showing how effective its digital signage products and business solutions are when it comes to delivering real, tangible benefits for businesses and their customers. By trying them out, visitors will know exactly how these solutions can work for them in everyday life.

Additionally, LG’s M3801S stretched monitor, on display at the transportation facility zone, delivers an extremely effective solution for airports, subway stations, bus stops or any other businesses that need wide displays in constricted spaces. The stretched monitors are ideal for advertising, or for providing passengers with useful information such as timetables. LG’s projectors, including 60-inch and 3D versions, will also be on show in the Theater Zone.
To Meet the Perfect Hotel TV and Video Conference Systems in the Hotel Zone In the booth’s “hotel room,” LG will be displaying its advanced, integrated Hotel TV solutions customized to different types of hotel. Just like real guests in LG-equipped hotels, visitors can use a remote control, fitted with Pro:Centric technology, to operate any multimedia devices in the hotel room. Pro:Centric also makes it possible to gain access to an array of useful information about hotel services, local travel information, weather and news on their TV or other
wireless devices. What’s more, LG’s Interactive TV lets guests check in or out and book room service with the touch of a few keys on their remote control. LG will also be unveiling two types of video conferencing systems in the conference room on the booth. The all-in one desk type VCS systems feature vivid screens and easy interfaces, while the room-type VCS boasts outstanding connectivity. LG VCS offers super-high definition video of 720HD, enabling realistic telepresence on a 24-inch high resolution LCD. In addition, with their high-performance built-in speakers and microphone, LG’s VCS let users feel as if they are actually sitting in the same room as everyone else in the conference. LG’s 65 inch LCD IWB and 60 inch PDP IWB, the ideal type of displays for business presentation and conference, will also be displayed at the wall of the conference zone.

BTX Technologies
Enhanced connectors A glass act BTX Technologies is showcasing a number of enhanced connector solutions for the European market. “From field-terminatable HDMI connectors to solderless termination systems, BTX solutions are designed to ensure quick and simple installations, saving integrators time and money in the field, while providing unmatched reliability for their customers, says Greg Schwartz, company president. These include the MaxBlox solderless termination system, which is claimed to dramatically reduce installation time and cost by eliminating the need for soldering or crimping. A unique sled-type bottom allows these connectors to slide, snap, and lock into the MaxBlox CD-MX915H hood for secure cable-mount connection. The MaxBlox family includes HD15, DB9, S-video, and 3.5-mm connectors, and also the new BTX-MXRCA screw-terminating RCA panel mount connector. Also highlighted is BTX’s patentpending ProBlox-D connector system, which is described as the AV industry’s first to incorporate

multiple data, HD video, audio, and control signals in a single connector. The system contains two Cat5e connectors along with 16 HD video and 18 audio and control contacts all field-terminatable. The addition of the Cat5e components takes advantage of all the signals, including HDMI, DVI, and VGA, that can now effectively be run over one or two Cat5e cables. As well as saving installers time during setup, ProBlox-D also provides non-technical users with the ability to hook up to a podium without the need for technical assistance, says the manufacturer. See & Touch Marbella Creation Cinema & TV Chairs integrate a joystick in either the left or the right armrest, which provides all the options for lighting, volume control, access to the Creation Menu and control over the chairs’ electrically driven reclining and straightening function. It’s not just any joystick either; the Creation Joy Sticks are designed like the Creation Wall Pads, with a thin ring of Swarovski crystals all around, matching the brushed aluminium button. The chairs also feature narrow head supports to keep the ears free for surround sound. Stand: 9D129
Based in the UK, Pro Display is opening two divisions to focus on introducing what is says are ‘unique technologies’ for the residential market. The divisions will handle intelligent glass and innovative screen solutions. Over the last 10 years, Pro Display has pioneered glass that will turn from clear to frosted at the flick of a switch; technology that has featured on TV programmes about home design. Pro Display recently launched a self-adhesive version of its switchable smart film technology, targeted at the retro fit and after sales market. With no glue required, the film bonds to the glass surface using a specially designed silicon cling liner. The optical films division at Pro Display has produced a number of self-adhesive projection films that can be applied to glass and use an optical coating to recreate images that are up to 10 times brighter and sharper than conventional projection screens. Also look out for the Mirrorvision optical glass overlays, lens-based optical glass that enhances the picture quality of any standard LCD TV and handily turns into a mirror when the screen is off; the Sound Design range of canvas art wall speakers; and the new Ultra Black rear-projection screen. Runco
The future of 3D at Home
Majoring on its new 3Dimension series of projectors for 3D home viewing, Runco’s Constant Stereoscopic Video (CSV) technology is claimed to deliver a constant HD image to each eye without flicker, distortion, or discomfort. Runco CSV uses passive glasses familiar to cinema-goers.
“The 3D-at-home revolution is an exciting development for display companies and for 3D enthusiasts, said Runco VP of marketing Jennifer Davis. “As people would expect, Runco is committed to delivering an exceptional solution. We approached 3D from both a physiological and technological perspective and the result is better than any 3D TV or 3D projection experience being sold today. She added: “Runco’s 3Dimension solution produces an incomparable 3D experience in home cinemas that surpasses the publiccinema experience. Stand: 3A82

AV dome collaboration The centrepiece of the Canon stand this year is a dramatic domed AV theatre. Originally supplied to locations in New York and Paris as part of Canon’s major ‘EXPO’ event, the Dome features three 7thSense Delta media servers, each with quad outputs, natively serving a 3,200x3,200 pixel fisheye movie as an uncompressed TGA sequence on all servers, so that no further processing is required on-site. A total of 10 Canon XEED SX7 projectors are configured to create an immersive experience for the audience with a combined image that measures 9m across. Stand: 1F54
projectiondesign
“We used to present a bric-a-brac of technology that engineers could dip into but this year we are much more solutions and design orientated, Paradigm founder Greg Jeffreys (below) told The ISE Daily yesterday. “There is nothing new about Pepper’s Ghost but we’ve done really well with them. It’s not rocket science but we’ve developed a technique for stretching the foil, so that you can rig and de-rig it. Using back projection, we’ve achieved superb contrast, with a genuine back to the background. It gives a strong 3D effect because the eye has no point of reference. We’re showing it this year with an interactive interface, which gives an idea of some of the potential new applications. Stand: 3A87
Appointments underlie global ambitions
Global projections: Anders Løkke of projectiondesign
“We’ve tripled our customer-facing resources in less than two years,â€? said Anders Løkke, international marketing and communications manager, projectiondesign, who added that the company had effectively decided to give back to its customers more of its revenue in the form of increased support. “Our business has grown spectacularly over the past few years, but we firmly believe there is more to come,â€? explained Løkke. “Our ambition is in being the preferred supplier of projection technology to more companies, in more regions of the world.â€? As part of the gearing-up for an increasingly global strategy, projectiondesign has made several significant appointments. For details go to www.isedaily.com. Stand: 1J27
