REPORT SEPTEMBER 2013 - SEPTEMBER 2014 WORLD SCOUT BUREAU - INTERAMERICAN REGION
D
ear sisters and brother’s scouts, I hope everything is fine with you.
In September 2013, in Argentina, a new Interamerican Scout Committee (ISC) started a new triennium, which in cooperation and support from the Regional Office has defined as one of its goals to keep informed all our NSO´s about our actions and results of the ISC meetings. Since that, two circulars related to the meetings held in Panama -January- and Slovenia -August 2014- have been addressed to all the NSO´s. Additionally, our regional office has delivered a monthly report about support provided from our regional staff or even participation in a event, seminar, etc. Even that, we consider important to reflect the individual effort made it by every staff from our office and the members from the ISC. Many things and process happens between every meeting which at the end reinforce the regional plan and support to the NSO´s. That´s why we are sharing with you the follow brief report that considerer events, programs or projects involved between sept 2013 and sept 2014. Is our wish to repeat same exercise for next period yearly until the end of the triennium in 2016. We have the willing to serve all our Associations as your deserve, and keep informed all of you about the responsibility that all of you has give us to strength our region and try to provide Scouting to a major youth possible. With our best regards.

Inspired by the Boy Scouts of America, this event is expected to take place for a period of 10 years. The result of this project is to have 600 highly trained leaders through the whole Region. All airfares, transportation costs and materials were generously donated by Messengers of Peace and the American Foundation for International Scouting. Attended by 62 young scouts from all across the region, a staff consisting of 12 young scouts, 14 adults and 4 members of the coordination team of the Interamerican Youth Network. Almost 100 scouts assisted to the training. Which was hosted on BSA Camp Strake. Objective: The Objective is to train the participants in order to become future support for each of the NSO’s. For them to acquire and practice leadership skills and build a network of all the leaders. Also for participants to experience a change in their Scout life as Messengers of Peace ambassadors in their NSO, so they can be able to share their knowledge at home and promote collaboration of the young leaders of the Inter Region. During the whole week there were different modules combined with outdoor activities The modules were:: • Youth Protection Training. • Overview of WOSM and IAR. • Presentation of the Youth Network. • Introduction Messengers of Peace Program. • Values of Scouting. • Decision Making / Conflict Resolution. • The benefits of teamwork. • Give example.
• Servant Leadership. • Operating Structure and the Region of WOSM. On Sunday 29 the participants visited NASA. It was an enlightening experience where the participants lunched. Afterwards, they headed out to the Scout Office Houston for dinner, were everybody dined together with a few BSA officials and two international ambassadors. The program afterwards included speeches of the staff, two participants, BSA officials and finished with Native American tradition dances were everybody joined together. Each delegation prepared and presented a brief overview about Scouting in their country, how they involve the Youth and how the Messengers of Peace program is promoted there. That activity was very rewarding for the rest of the participants. It gave a clear picture of the realities of the movement in other countries, as well as having a global view of Scouting. On Tuesday 31st, the event concluded with an emotional closing ceremony, along with the year -end dinner celebration. Afterwards was the official distribution of the Messengers of Peace neckerchiefs. It was an excellent opportunity of the Interamerican Youth Network, because we had the opportunity to make contact with two youth members of each NSO. This helped us to understand the specific situation of each country, its needs and how we can collaborate. All participants made a commitment to maintain fluid and constant communication with the Interamerican Youth Network. We also hope to be at the service of the staff for the future ILT trainings to come. Matías Rodríguez Aró. Youth Network Deputy Coordinator WOSM - IAR

PLANNING WORKSHOP OF THE WORLD SCOUT BUREAU INTERAMERICAN REGION 22 to 24 October 2014
From 22 to 24 October 2014, in congruence with the pursuit of effectiveness and quality of the actions with which the Executive team of the World Scout BureauInteramerican Region is committed, gathered all members of the staff of the Regional Office to develop a process of reflection and internal planning for the next two years. The process, led by an external expert facilitator, was particularly interesting and challenging because it was required to incorporate three different plans in one: 1. The Regional Plan (2014-2016) "Combining Efforts, Multiplying Results" adopted at the Intermerican Scout Conference in Argentina, already underway and which is considered to be the main reference for the actions to be developed by the WSB-IR. 2. The Messengers of Peace plan for the Inter-American Region (planned to be developed in the same period, but drafted some months later), and
During this exercise experiences, learning and previous developments of the Regional Plan were capitalized and reflection was done on the role that the Regional Office should assume in the achievement of the results of the three considered plans. In consequence, it also became apparent which of the results of these plans depend directly on the world level, which of them are in the hands of the NSOs and also the contributions from the different existing networks at the regional level. The outcome of these arduous hours of work resulted in the establishment of actions and indicators for monitoring the plan 2015-2016 of the WSB-IR, which will thus increasingly better serve the NSOs in the Region and provide them opportunities so that they can strengthen their institutional capacities for the achievement of the Vision 2023 of Scouting.

3. The World Triennial Plan (2014-2017), recently approved at the 40th World Scout Conference Scout in Slovenia being, by in this way, the WSB-IR the first Regional Office in line with the same.
I
t was in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we gather to conduct our 25th. Interamerican Scout Conference. This conference marked the beginning of a new threeyear period, with a new strategic plan that we decided to call "Combining efforts, multiplying results." This report shows the main activities during this first year of the triennium. Many have been conducted with the support and participation of members of our NSOs and the members of the Interamerican Scout Committee , this is how we have been asked to add efforts. Even in those tasks that have been made in our World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region, at Panama City, through professional team, they have required to combine efforts, as all actions are performed in a coordinated manner. This is teamwork. However the amount of effort does not directly imply that this multiply the results, to accomplish this is required to maintain a focus on achieving high common goals and especially in achieving more than the sum of its parts. This teamwork is not an option, it's the only one. This is a key ingredient in Scouting. It would be difficult to think that we could have come here, after more than 100 years of global presence, if not present teamwork. It's something we teach our youth through the Scout Method that pays off when it is applied in everyday life. Many are those who dream of a Better World, in which Scouting make a significant contribution through the development of human beings who can see other people as individuals to create community and build together. I am sure that our region has many scouts as well, and they will be part of future actions to continue multiplying our results. Yours in Scouting RaĂşl SĂĄnchez Vaca Regional Director
