HOTEL NEWS INTERCONTINENTAL JORDAN WINNER OF THE 2016 WORLD LUXURY HOTEL AWARDS FOR BEST GENERAL MANAGER IN THE REGION InterContinental Jordan is proud to announce winning another prestigious award that is to be added to the long list of awards it has been winning throughout the years. The hotel has won the World Luxury Hotel Awards for the Best General Manager in the region, namely Mr. Michael Koth. Mr. Koth enjoys 37 years of experience in the hospitality industry. With his hard work, dedication, perseverance, and working hand in hand with the IHG colleagues, he was able to achieve great success for the properties he is in charge of. Right now, he is the Director of Operations for IHG LEVANT, as well as the General Manager of InterContinental Jordan. Because of his progressive and unique leadership style and qualities, the team engagement was enriched and the employee commitment was noticeably increased, which consequently resulted in creating a sense of pride among colleagues for being part of a luxurious and historical hotel. InterContinental Jordan is also active on both the social media front and the Corporate Social Responsibility front. Due to the dynamic and smart utilization of social media, the hotel reputation tops the market in Jordan. As for CSR, there are many initiatives undertaken by the hotel to support the community and give back to society, including charity bazaars, blood donation campaigns, cultural events, among many others. Some of the charities and humanitarian foundations that InterContinental Jordan partners with are King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Tkiyet Um Ali, Al-Aman Foundation, Princess Taghreed for Development & Arts, Family Kitchen, in addition to hosting Ramadan Iftars for seven charities, and organizing three charity Christmas bazaars. The environmental aspect is extremely important to InterContinental Jordan as well, whereby the hotel implemented environmental solutions for the sake of preserving the planet, and successfully reduced energy cost by 12%. Furthermore, InterContinental Jordan believes in supporting and developing young Jordanian talents, which is the reason behind collaborating with many educational institutions to train their students and prepare them for their future careers in the hospitality industry. Some of these institutions are RACCA, VTC, and many other hospitality schools. And recently, InterContinental Jordan along with its IHG sister hotels in Jordan, signed an agreement between IHG Academy and RACCA to train, teach, develop, and eventually hire their students. InterContinental Jordan has won many awards throughout the years, including Best Safety Environment for Guests and Colleagues, and Food Safety Award from the Drugs and Food Department, not to mention the numerous TripAdvisor and Booking.com awards that the hotel has achieved. InterContinental Jordan has also hosted the annual IHG conference that gathered all IHG Directors of Sales & Marketing across the IMEA region, which was used as a platform to promote Jordan as an attractive destination. And some of the notable achievements of InterContinental Jordan in 2016 was growing its market share in a declining market, as well as being the venue for a total of 300 weddings.
