HOTEL NEWS INTERCONTINENTAL MANILA HOLDS BIANNUAL EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILL InterContinental Manila holds its biannual Emergency Evacuation Drill last May 21, 10 am at the hotel poolside. All departments actively participated on the evacuation drill. All employees gathered at the poolside area which is the designated assembly point. InterContinental Manila prides itself of having huge assembly area which is also an ideal location for evacuation due to its strategic location away from high-rise buildings in Makati. The biannual emergency evacuation drill is conducted by InterContinental Manila in compliance to the Fire Code of the Philippines 2008 (RA 9514).


HOTEL NEWS HOTEL EMPLOYEES UNDERGO FIRE FIGHTING DEMO InterContinental Manila prioritize guests and employees’ safety at all cost, thus it is imperative that all hotel staffs are trained with the basic of fire-fighting to aid them in times of emergency. Timely with the recent fire incidents in the country, InterContinental Manila’s security team conducted fire-fighting demo, headed by Mr. Mar Roxas, last May 15. Volunteers from various operational department participated in the demo by individually extinguishing the fire using designated fire extinguishers.

INSIDER GUIDE PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY ( JUNE 12) One of the most significant achievements in the Philippines’ history is Independence Day on June 12, 1898 as it marks the end of the Spanish rule which lasted for more than 300 years. The proclamation was held at the balcony of General Emilio Aguinaldo’s residence in Kawit, Cavite where thousands of people are in attendance to witness the formal unfurling of the Philippine Flag and the first public orchestration of the national anthem. June 12 was a declared national holiday in the Philippines.

PINTADOS FESTIVAL (JUNE 29) Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival is celebrated in commemoration of the feast day of Sto. Nino, the infant image of Christ. Street pageantry and native folk dances of locals from Leyte and Samar sporting artistic costumes or unique body tattoos are the main attraction for tourists flocking Tacloban at this time.
