The year 2016 celebrated Interfaith of The Woodlands’ 43rd year of “Building A More Loving and Caring Community Through Service.” Each day, Interfaith impacts hundreds of individuals and families in crisis and those seeking job opportunities. Through the generous giving of time and resources by Interfaith’s member congregations, corporate, civic and business organizations, and donors, lives are changed, neighbors are empowered and the next generation’s future is brighter. Interfaith unites neighbors from all religious, political and socio-economic backgrounds to “Serve One Another.” Last year, Interfaith assisted 1,032,605 service contacts through programs that provided food, basic needs, crisis and social services to families, employment services and programs for our area Seniors. As we look forward, Interfaith remains committed to making our community a better place. Thank you for believing that when we all work together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of many.

Member Congregations With a variety of organized religions participating in Interfaith’s daily activities, we truly are an “Interfaith” organization that promotes benevolence and compassion within the community. Member Congregations participate in many community initiatives such as covenant revitalization programs, food, clothing and book drives, volunteers for Veggie Village and Food Pantry, and provide Chaplaincy services, birthday parties and wellness and care programs for our senior neighbors. Interfaith of The Woodlands brings people together to help our neighbors in need. The Programs & Services Department of Interfaith of The Woodlands exists to evaluate needs and provide assistance to children, families and seniors. Interfaith strives to assist each client in achieving self-sufficiency and independence while maintaining his or her inherent dignity and self-worth. In 2016, two flooding events and a local apartment fire kept Family Services in disaster response and relief mode for the first half of the year, serving 760 families and over 2,400 individuals with emergency shelter, food, and clothing, as well as financial assistance to secure permanent housing. Overall, Interfaith expanded the number of children served through Kits4Kidz School Supplies Assistance Program, continued On The Go Mobile Food Pantry, increased the number of rides to essential appointment for senior adults, continued social activities for seniors including Senior Day Trips; and added a new Children’s Garden in Wendtwoods Park as part of Veggie Village Community Garden.

In 2016, floods greatly affected areas throughout South Montgomery County. Interfaith of The Woodlands partnered with MC-CARES (Montgomery County Community Assistance Recovery Efforts and Services) and served as a hub for South Montgomery County relief efforts. Together with member congregations, individuals, community partners, and corporations, Interfaith was able to provide much-needed crisis assistance for over 750 families affected by the flooding. Thanks to the generosity of our network of volunteers and partners, Interfaith of the Woodlands was able to meet our community’s needs.

CHILDREN ENROLLED Interfaith Child Development Center celebrated its 40th Anniversary! The challenging educational environment encourages and nurtures creativity, individuality and compassion through a literature-based curriculum.
Interfaith Workforce Services currently operates 13 career offices in nine counties, and all offices met or exceeded the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s customerservice standards in 2016. Our Call Center determined eligibility for more than $130 million in financial aid for customers across all 13 counties in the region, receiving nearly 300,000 calls and processing more than 50,000 cases. These efforts were supported through coordinated efforts with other Interfaith departments, including Finance, Human Resources and Facilities.
