“If I can’t express the reason for creating a new product, I refrain from doing it,” states Cecilie Manz, Maison et Objet 2018 Designer of the Year.
Driven by ‘function’ more so than anything else, Cecile’s creations are all humble, minimalist and material-sensitive—a very Scandinavian approach to design. She receives this honour 20 years after founding her first studio in Copenhagen. Cecile starts from her sketches and works upwards into the manufacturing process. She’s gained repertoire for her eclectic and of course—functional—sense of design.
