For the second year running, 30 NeoCon first-timers were invited to the Mart via a career-development initiative featuring editor-guided showroom tours, roundtable discussions, and more. Huge thanks to our sponsors for giving these young designers the VIP treatment: AHF Products, Bernhardt Design, Dauphin, Formica, Ghent, Indiana Furniture, KI, Material Bank, Narbutas, Pallas Textiles, Patcraft, Prostoria, Scandinavian Spaces, Shaw Contract, and Turf.
Got sore feet and wobbly legs from slogging around the Mart? Beeline to floor 3 and take a load off with a relaxing sit on Sebastian Herkner’s Blum. The chair, for Italian brand Pedrali, exemplifies the uber-clean lines, precise detailing, and thoughtful functionalism we’ve come to expect from the German designer; note the fluted extruded-aluminum frame that upholds the comfortably cushioned yet strikingly tailored seat and back. Did we mention the chair stacks, too?
Blum’s curvaceous profile, in spunky hues of velvet, suits any imaginable setting. space 330
Bloom is an acoustic material that blends natural fibers and real flower petals. NeoCon neophyte Slalom treats the seasonal blossoms at high temperatures so that they retain their delicate fragrance while losing their pesky allergens. The end result resembles colorful potpourri strewn onto soft, sound-dampening panels. Blooming fabulous! space 7-5094
Immersed in joy, the Yinka Ilori + Momentum collection is the manufacturer’s first collaboration with the BritishNigerian artist/ designer—who also presents today’s 10AM keynote! The work draws on Ilori’s dual cultural roots and the theme of community via five textile patterns and three wallcoverings, all with lively coloration and a compelling backstory. Eco-friendly materials are a priority, including Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering’s new carbon-neutral vinyl substrate, Circon, that’s fully recyclable. space 323
Guy, a rechargeable indoor/outdoor LED lantern made of aluminum and plastic by Kenneth and Edmund Ng for Koncept, has the sweetest detail: a movable “hat” shade that adjusts the direction the light is cast. We love the fresh new clearwater blue, matte fire red, matte yellow, and matte pink hues. space 1064

Designers are flocking to Sandow Design Group’s DesignScene lounge on the 11th floor—and we invite you to join them! Created in partnership with 3form for the third year in a row, the expansive space with comfy seating and communal tables is a welcome respite from the hustle-bustle of the showrooms—and it plays host to inspiring industry roundtables. The theme for this year, hatched by Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen and Ryan Smith, chief creative officer at 3form, is all about color-blocking. “This graphic technique of pulling hues from the opposite side of the color wheel harkens back to the modernist movement,” Allen says. “It helped us define the various areas for Sandow brands—think warm reds and pinks for Interior Design and cool greens for Metropolis. In selecting the overarching palette, we took inspiration from a master: Le Corbusier!”
Visitors will see surprises underfoot and overhead, as well as eye-catching installations on walls, all brought to life via product from Shaw Contract, Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering, and Behr. Right inside the doors, HBF created a must-see jewel-box vignette of its latest offerings and a fun stacked display of ALA Studio’s pert new Bao stools. To the right is the Sustainability Lab by Metropolis, with a showcase of eco-forward and carbon-neutral innovations, curated readings, and resources. Behind a secret door, Interior Design editors are hard at work, creating each edition of the Show Daily, including this one in your hands. See you there!

Norwegian industrial designer Peter Opsvik wrote a book called Rethinking Sitting, which is a clue to his outside-the-box approach to ergonomics. His pieces, like the Globe Tree, may not look comfortable…they may not even look like furnishings. But they are indeed both. A spin-off of his earlier Globe Garden concept chair, this seat for Sandler is an all-in-one piece of office furniture that offers the elements of a flexible workstation to fit its user’s needs, including multiple desk surfaces that can be moved in and out of sightlines for productive multitasking. Its backrest is composed of spinning globes that provide support as one naturally changes position throughout the day. space 1091
All-day battery-power integrated into moveable walls and folding desks that liberate you from grid dependency and spatial constraints. Experience the fluidity and flexibility of the Giraª Workplace Collection for today’s dynamic office environments.
Sustainability is front of mind for many furniture producers, and Andreu World is no exception. Its new chair, the Nuez Lounge Bio by Patricia Urquiola, takes a big leap in the direction of renewable materials with a natural-origin thermopolymer shell that’s both biodegradable and compostable. Adding to its carbon-neutral cred is a frame of FSC-certified ash or aluminum, easily separated from its upholstery and other component parts for seamless recycling. Among the fabric options is a new recycled-polyester textile made from discarded water bottles. As a testament to its flexibility, the seat is already being deployed in a range of projects, from residential to corporate—looking right at home in both environments. space 10-132
It’s not every designer who can count James Bond among their clients, but Kai Stania can; he contributed pieces to the 2008 flick Quantum of Solace. Bond is also the name of a unit in his modular Bridges collection for Silen. This time, however, it refers to joining elements, not 007. The others are Portal, Connect, and Mobile, and together they comprise a modular office-partition system that acknowledges the need for flexibility in today’s office. Manufactured of plywood, metal, and Seaqual fabric made from marine plastic, the pods collectively support a range of work styles, from heads-down focus to group-huddle collaboration. space 10-155
Tranquil forests, rolling hills, and gentle streams provided the conceptual inspiration for the Landscape collection of acoustic-felt dividers by Union Design’s Jeff Theesfeld. They come in three shapes: Stones, Trees, and Hills, all covered in the company’s GiosFelt recyclable PET in a mix-and-match range of hues. Designed for Akouo Acoustics, Landscape is available as a single or three-layered unit, and at about 7 feet wide and nearly 6 tall, it’s an eye-catching sculptural element that adds visual variety to the workspace while improving acoustics. space 1171

Complex geometric incisions produce intricate peekaboo details for Otto, self-supporting dividers by Carl Gustav Magnusson that are framed in solid oak maple, or walnut, and offer visual and acoustic separation in the workplace. Panels are available 48, 72, or 94.5 inches high and in straight or curved formats Otto is made of a patented double-sided incision-type flexible wood that offers fabulous sound absorption. It’s also, of course, quite beautiful.

“I wanted to bring my own heritage to the collaboration, and so you’ll find details that nod to English folk art”
SPACE 312
Faye Toogood’s first collaboration with the Italian manufacturer reflects her soft, sculptural approach to furniture, subverting stuffy ideas of formality. The Squash lineup (at Haworth) includes a side table with a cosseting cushion that’s, er, squashed between two lacquered-wood blocks. Natural-fiber rugs feature a hand-painted checkerboard inspired by patchwork chairs. Upholstered mirrors juxtapose hard glass with soft leather frames—“my personal response to early English leatherwork,” the British design star says. Finally, there’s an ottoman and an armchair dressed in tonal leathers, the latter of which is effortlessly baggy and wrinkled. It nods to Renzo Frau’s 1930’s Vanity Fair chair, whose archival lipstick-red leather Toogood fell for on a trip to the manufacturer’s Tolentino, Italy, factory. “It feels very refreshing to make a chair in such a strong, saturated shade,” she notes. Too good.

The brand’s new pieces put the mod in modular, with simple profiles, uber-clean lines, and a soft-yetstrong palette. Lineup by Ida Design offers a broad range of seating options for public or intimate groupings alike as well as a preconfigured booth, with side panels and a wood-slat canopy, that seats five or six. The lounge seat, loveseat, and sofa are available in three heights offering varying degrees of privacy. Flipside by Gemma Bernal is a versatile bench (with optional backrest) in two-, three-, and four-unit configurations that can be specified fully upholstered or with wood accents. Coordinating inline and end tables complete the package.

It takes a village—of seating and table options—to create effective spaces these days. A suite of collections from the woman-owned, family-operated manufacturer offers myriad ways to do just that. Alyssa Coletti’s Uplift guest chairs are designed to augment the sitter with beautiful joinery and soft upholstery. Six-t hexagonal tables, available in rich wood, curated paint colors, and soft-touch laminates, promote organic layouts and foster interaction. Brad Ascalon Studio’s Liaison seating and tables are fluid and gently rounded to be both inviting and super comfortable. And Giancarlo Stefani’s Plus soy-based foam seating modules are agile and uber-customizable— available with or without arms, low or high backs, etc.—so spaces can evolve as needs do.

SRP™ TPU flooring is an alchemy of responsible beauty that is designed to transform waste plastic bottles into innovative, circular flooring. Two plastic bottles are upcycled into each square foot of SRP TPU Flooring and built into a simple chemistry that allows the planks to be upcycled into new flooring post use, while maintaining optimal performance and quality.

Like the shadows that develop on film negatives, the elegant pattern of leaves waving in the wind seen in Moonflower derives from a monoprint of plants. The wallcovering motif comes to life through heat-transfer printing on a polyester-polyolefin blend substrate. We love the pearlescent luminosity of the finish, which beckons eyes into the design’s inky depths. There are four colorways to choose from, all named after garden blooms: Primrose, Hydrangea, Snapdragon, Camellia, and Gardenia. innovations

Inspired by the earth’s enduring artistry, Lithic is a hard and soft surface collection that reflects the classic aesthetic and artful characteristics of stone. Take note: This brand is the only pattern library created exclusively for interior designers, with a focus on commercial markets. The New Hampshire company partners with digital printers that leverage on-demand technology, thus giving professionals more options when specifying materials. Design Pool’s partners can print any of the nearly 1,000 available patterns onto vinyl flooring, faux leather upholstery, acoustic panels, wallpaper, window film, and more. Check out founder Kristen Dettoni’s evocative new Light Play collection made of Veilish, a semitransparent woven-polyester window film made by Graphix Unlimited. The 14 patterns, conceived to add decorative élan to the transition zone between inside and out, were inspired by cast shadows.

The latest contract carpet-tile collection from the U.S. flooring giant was inspired by various art movements and techniques and explores a plethora of patterns, constructions, scales, and colors. Aptly dubbed Curate, its 18 styles traverse saturated hues, organic shapes, graphic motifs, rich tonal designs, sisal textures, and even plush constructions with a carved aesthetic. The 24-inch, carbon-neutral modules are manufactured of EcoSolution Q100, a high-performance nylon fiber composed entirely of recycled content. Within the range there’s plenty of flexibility to create moments of impact or more subtle floorscapes. It’s all about how you curate it.

The Idyllic series is an ode to inner landscapes of the soul. Meditative patterns adorn the 13 high-performance upholstery fabrics, like Gaia, a Tekloom allover dot pattern (with an impermeable surface!) that recalls a universe filled with stars. Playtime is another collection that delves into dots: namely with Arcade, an 81 percent recycled polyester with a playful, abstract pattern featuring haphazardly placed, multihued dashes that look a bit like Morse code.

The buzzed-about brand launches a host of introductions at NeoCon, from hanging planters to a petite WFH desk. Buzzi also initiates a partnership with Belgian knitwear specialist Maison Tricot—a renowned name in fashion whose past collaborators include Ann Demeulemeester, Raf Simons, and Dries Van Noten—that resulted in a range of acoustic products dressed in 100 percent recycled PET textiles, like the sweet new BuzziKnit Poufs in round or square shapes. Finally, a joint effort with Cory Grosser begat BuzziShroom, a fungi-shape, soundabsorbing floor lamp that marks the California-based designer’s first venture into acoustic lighting.

Two sofa variations + 17 modules + three tables = maximum adaptability. The shapes and heights of Hightower’s Toward family were inspired by the topography of mountain landscapes; the colors likewise nod to nature. “What I find very interesting is that Toward is beautiful from any angle, including when you see it from behind,” Danish designer Anne Boysen says. The seating is also particularly comfortable, supporting a range of user needs. Movable armrests allow you to create personal space, collaborate with the person next to you, or have a flat personal lap desk when you flip them over—and power modules facilitate greater productivity.

Head to the Metropolis Sustainability Lab on 11, in DesignScene by Sandow, to eyeball Hyper Sonic, the inaugural collection from Carnegie’s Acoustic Solutions division. The series consists of five new Kirei recycled-PET products and four new Xorel Artform offerings. Among the former is the patent-pending Contour Tiles: square wall modules with a topographical relief available in more than 35 colors and with the option for Kirei Ink printing. Among the latter is Drape 3D, part of the Hyper Stretch sub-series of faceted wall panels that boast sound-absorbing Xorel textiles. Of note: Kirei products are all made from 60 percent postconsumerrecycled material, so designers can be sure that every product they specify diverts plastic bottles from the waste stream. Xorel is the Cradle to Cradle–certified woven polyethylene (the majority of it bio-based) that is PVC-, finish-, and PFAS-free yet antimicrobial, antibacterial, and bleach-cleanable.

Danish designer Henrik Pedersen, founder of Aarhus-based studio 365°, introduces Deck, a seating and table collection whose name and materiality derive from seafaring vessels. The simple yet striking silhouettes are precision-crafted of solid plantation teak slats, whose ends are finished with subtle curves. The collection encompasses large and small seating units, an ottoman, plus three sizes of dining tables, two sofa tables, and a coffee table. Though rooted in the uncompromising craftsmanship of yore, the collection has a futureminded ethos, suggestive of global adventuring yet encouraging lounging and chillaxing right where you are. “Traveling, exploring, and being inspired by the moment are essential to being able to see beyond tomorrow,” Pedersen says. Tzuco [$$$]
Led by Carlos Gaytán, the first Mexican-born chef to earn a Michelin star, Tzuco offers a unique (and delicious) combination of Mexican heritage and French culinary techniques. Integral to the upscale dining experience are the interiors by Cadena + Asociados Concept Design that represent earth, land, and sea. The dining room features floor-to-ceiling glass boxes framed by wood and showcasing preserved materials from Gaytán’s homeland: corn silks and husks, thorn bushes, terra-cotta, and woven fabrics. Menu highlights include Mayan ceviche, steak tartare, and lamb neck Barbacoa.

Francois Frankie [$$$]
Located in the heart of the Theatre District, this brasserie transports diners to the streets of France via delightful fare from executive chef Matt Ayala. The focal point is the bar, a rotating carousel that gently twirls guests as they sip on tempting libations. String lights and velvet seating create a cozy atmosphere, and the menu features true French dishes such as bouillabaisse and mussels and frites alongside domestic fare like Amish chicken and spicy vodka rigatoni.

La Grande Boucherie [$$$]
Custom curved stained-glass windows are among the spectacular art nouveau details Legeard Studio orchestrated at this recently renovated belle epoque building (which also got a new facade to match) just a few blocks from the Mart. Inside, capped by an ornate ceiling, the ground level and mezzanine can accommodate up to 600 guests— even more than the restaurant’s impressively spacious New York counterpart. Though the Parisian brasserie–style dinner menu runs well into the higher end, on weekdays the eatery offers a $37 prix fixe lunch from 11AM to 4PM.

Occupying the top floor and rooftop of the Hilton Canopy in the Loop is this rustic Mediterranean spot by author and Top Chef participant Fabio Viviani. There are more than a dozen share plates on the menu to share with the table; entrees, such as a pasta Bolognese made with Wagyu beef, are classic but elevated. Owing to its prime location, Seville offers unobstructed city views through its windows, as well as nearly 100 terrace seats for outdoor dining.
