HISTORY

FOR 55 YEARS WE HAVE BEEN MAKING HISTORY

1965 Foundation of the company Vas â&#x20AC;&#x153;Vasiliou Glass Technologiesâ&#x20AC;? 2004 Transfer to new private facilities of 12.000sqm and relocation of the machinery for conventional processing. Thoughts of a new vision begin. 2009 Purchase of the TEMPERING LINE. Begin to make the vision true. At the same time, the company realized a remarkable business innovation with the purchase of the furnace H.S.T. KERAGLASS which is unique in Greece. 2012 Purchase of the laminate line which includes the BENTELER Line and the SCHOLZ Furnace. This move makes us independent in all possible processing of the existing technology. 2013 The company is awarded for being the most innovative business in Evoia Prefecture. 2014 Purchase of a GRINDING, POLISHING & WATERJET machine as well as of a ceramic digital printing machine for jumbo dimensions.

The modern plant facilities cover 12.000sqm and distinguish for their advanced technological machinery. More thoroughly, the company installations comprise of the buildings (working areas & complementary installations), process equipment (hardware & software) and the support services (transport & communications). The upgraded logistics department with the pioneering system of automatic storage, guarantees for the customer’s fastest service while it constitutes a unique innovation for the Greek and European standards. The company focuses on technological innovation and constant evolution. Therefore, it seeks for innovations and methods that will create new standards in the markets. With the new technologies that owns, it manufactures great glass such as float glass, Eva-Lam, coated glass, low-e glass (up to emissivity 0,01). DRILLING, MILLING, GRINDING, POLISHING, WATER JET

Vas “Vasiliou Glass Technologies” innovates once again with the addition of a new production line, the automatic waterjet cutting line. The specific one is an innovation by Forvet and is called “Francesca FC 1600” combining two technologies in just one machine. The use of waterjet together with typical operations of the previous “Francesca” models, that is to say drilling and milling, make the mentioned machine unique. These two production principles interact without affecting one another, having as a result the potentials of each operation to increase the production. All these lead to a great advantage for the production as the operator, through the various abilities of the specific machine, can select the desirable cutting type. This machine constitutes a jewel because it offers multiple potentials such as: milling with small rays, milling polishing, very fast drilling and exceptionally accurate drillings and repeatability of the position. Automatization of the procedure “Francesca FC 1600” is the sole machine of automatic loading and unloading of glass sheets. Also, it gives the opportunity of realizing additional operations while cutting the edges such as grinding and polishing. At the same time, it is the only NC machine of its kind with innumerous sorts of drilling and milling. The automatic glass sheet installation includes the following: • Simultaneous Waterjet with other production operations without any necessary manual intervention, as far as the glass sheet installation is concerned, • All sorts of drillings with no limitation in depth and, • Combination of the two above. The glass sheets are transferred via dynamic gap belts (Forvet patent) which give the ability to install the glass sheets without touching the upper surface. All these make this machine safe and fast for all types of glass, Low-e included. The gap in each section of the belts is activated and deactivated according to the position of the glass sheets. Additionally, the automatic administration takes into account the glass geometry keeping in any case, the glass in the appropriate position. The specific machine enables the automatized production lines to incorporate operations such as drilling and polishing, given that glass loading, installation and unloading are totally automatized without the operator’s intervention.

DIGITAL PRINT WITH CERAMIC INKS

Vitro Jet Smart & complete solution for success production. Vitro Jet allows you to print digitally on glass using ceramic inks. It is ideal for architectural projects, with print format of up to 12 meters. The control system runs Windows operating system. The operation is simple, using icon-based menus independent of language. IPT Technology consists of two segments that combine hot air with IR radiation at both sides of the printing carriage. With this system, the machine carries out a pre-drying of the ink which allows to keep the drops in the right position as well as to increase the ink amount. Vitro Jet has an incorporated dryer which is constantly supplied while the glass is printed. In this way, it has the full control as there is no phase of waiting between the printing and drying process.

tempering & heat strengthening line

Vas “Vasiliou Glass Technologies” has an horizontal glass strengthening furnace with the method of regression (tempering oscillating furnace) of KERAGLASS KFO type. It also has a convection preheating chamber as well as an infrared camera-linescanner for the “X-ray” of the glass (ability to control the maximum temperature of the glass after its heating, in order for the strengthening quality to be refined) during its insertion to the strengthening. It is a furnace able to preheat and control via a camera-linescanner so as the glass quality to be perfect even after its process. The products of these new production units, compared to the common glass, have the following properties: • They are 5 times more resistant in impact and loads (increased resistance in shearing and tensile tensions and resistance in case of breakage. • They are 8 times more resistant in temperature changes (over 150°C, they do not suffer from a thermal shock) • When they break (after exceeding the above conditions), they are crushed in tiny fragments that they do not injure the man (fragments smaller than ½scm each) TEMPERING FURNACE – PREHEATING CHAMBER The use of the preheating chamber in the glass tempering furnace KERAGLASS KFO is proved to be a critical tool in order for the tempering furnace to be able to accomplish more demanding goals concerning: • Quality • Production procedure The furnace is able to temper glasses of 4mm-9mm thick, and dimensions of 30mm x 250mm and 2400mm x 5100mm (minimum to maximum). The control of the machine is made via two computers (PLC) which regulate all parameters (temperature configuration, speed, section synchronization etc.). The machine can manage the central control of the regional parts so as to be fully automatized.

TEMPERING & HEAT STRENGTHENING LINE

CAMERA-LINESCANNER The use of the infrared camera-linescanner between the exit of the heating furnace and the entrance in the glass strengthening furnace KERAGLASS KFO is proved to be a critical tool in order for the strengthening furnace to be able to accomplish the most demanding goal, quality. The infrared camera-linescanner offers the ability of extremely accurate depiction of the procedure and temperature measurement in a great range of applications, from 150 to 750 °C. It includes a processor of infrared control signals of high accuracy as well as computers for monitoring the industrial procedure. The infrared camera-linescanner has abilities of storage, demonstration and analysis by processing simultaneously the data of the temperature variations of the glasses from the multiple sensor heads, database and storage archives. The tempering heat soak test furnace KERAGLASS HST. In order to comply with the European Standards on thermally processed (strengthened) glass (tempered) safety, they must be subject to a H.S.T. test. Through the 300year artificial weathering, the product is certified regarding the immunity against the spontaneous breakages due to chemical admixtures. During the manufacturing procedure of float glass, some additions of nickel sulfate (NiS) can occur in the internal mass of the glass. The temperature alterations during the glass thermal procedure (strengthening), increase the possibility of a spontaneous glass breakage when the nickel sulfate (NiS) is present, causing possible damages in humans, animals or objects. This spontaneous breakage of the strengthened glass has no time limitations as it may have passed over a decade for the spontaneous breakage to occur. In order to reduce the possibilities of a spontaneous break-out, the glass should be subject to the Heat Soak Test (HST). During this procedure, the glass is kept in 290째C for a certain period of time of about 6 hours, so as there are no possibilities of breakage (because of the capturing of the nickel sulfate (NiS)). This type of testing is obligatory in the field of architecture and constructions. This procedure is realized only when the glass has been subject to thermal process.

It is exclusive in Greece and manufactured by Benteler Maschinenbau GmbH with these specs for glass and jumbo dimensions 6000x3210mm. The sole laminate line in Greece which produces laminate glass up to 120mm thick and also is able to weld low-e glass up to emissivity 0,01. It focuses on quality and fastest possible productivity. DOUBLE GLASS PRODUCTION LINE

Capacities First welding BUTIL A material that requires a special device for its application. Basically it is an adhesive in solid format which is liquidized and first fixed to the 2 sides of the spacer and then with pressure on the 2 crystals. It has better adhesion and durability in time and it has to be secured like the two-sided strip. Second welding The adhesive types for the second welding are separated in 3 groups based on their main chemical components: hot-melt or hot adhesives, sulfur adhesives or cold adhesives and finally, the silicon-based adhesives. HOT-MELT Widely known in the markets as Hot adhesive. It belongs in the family of Hot Melt which means that it is applied with a pistol. The last one warms it and when it gets cold, it becomes solid. It is the adhesive most frequently met. One of the principal reasons for its use is the easy and fast application and most of all, the little time required for its solidification. The negative part is that it is not endures as the other two, in high and low temperatures. It would be better to avoid it in limited warm or cold climates. SULFUR ADEHESIVE An adhesive of two components with main component the sulfur adhesive. Great behavior in all weather conditions and all sorts of crystals. It is applied with a machine which mixes automatically the two components, fact that is pretty important for its lifespan. SILICON-BASED An adhesive of one or two components for the manufacturing of double glasses which are exposed to external conditions, structural or semi-structural glass.
