The Moscow Day History This event is celebrated since the 19th century. Originally the celebration was planned to be for 3 days long. The first day was to concentrate on the religious aspect, the second was to commemorate the scientific achievements and the third to celebrate the people. The first celebration did not receive a warm welcome by the people so the next celebration was made only 100 years later in 1947.

By Stalin’s order the 800th years celebration was made in September. The city was turned into a huge party venue, it was cleaned to be sparkling, decorated in beautiful lights and a huge firework display coloured the city horizon in the evening! Since 1986 the Moscow’s day is celebrated annually. With the times in the must-do’s to Moscow day was added special markets. Certainly soon in the list of must-do’s will be added the Music concerts and Master classes. This year the celebration will be very special and interesting. The symbol of this year is – the butterfly.
