Legal Issue: Controversy of Tes Wawasan Kebangsaan as A Determinant of The Integrity and Nationalism of KPK Employees Written By: Fatrekiesa K. Aranta After many criticisms from the society, Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK), Kementerian Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi (PAN RB), and Badan Kepegawaian Negara (BKN) had a meeting to coordinate the dismissal of KPK Employees who failed Tes Wawasan Kebangsaan. On 25 May 2021, KPK announced the decision of the meeting which to dismiss 51 KPK employees who failed to pass Tes Wawasan Kebangsaaan as the procedure to achieve Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) status. Initially there were 75 KPK employees who had to be dismissed since they didn‛t pass TWK. But after the deliberation with other parties, KPK decided to pass 24 KPK employees with conditions. Those 24 people who pass are required to comply with trainings related to Bela Negara, and will be assessed further. Pursuant to the second amendment of KPK Law, Article 1(6) of Law Number 19 of 2019, “Pegawai Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi adalah aparatur sipil negara sebagaimana dimaksud dalam peraturan perundang-undangan mengenai aparatur sipil negara.”, which indicates the change of status of KPK employees to ASN. Furthermore, Article 69B of Law Number 19 of 2019 stipulates that the status of ASN has to be achieved within maximum two years since the Law is enacted, which is 17 October 2021. In regards with the mechanism of status transition, Article 5(4) KPK Regulation Number 1 of 2021 imposed that KPK employees have to undergo TWK as the fulfilment of one of the requirements as stipulated under article 5(2) from the same regulation, which is “setia dan taat pada Pancasila, Undang-Undang Dasar Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1945, Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia, dan pemerintah yang sah.” This regulation then becomes the basis of the mandatory for KPK Employees to take Tes Wawasan Kebangsaan. Unfortunately, the dismissal has been sparking controversy among the public. People start assuming that the dismissal of its top investigators is one of the ways to weaken the anti-graft body. Moreover, some employees who failed the test had decided to bring the case to Indonesian Ombudsman, because they urge the transparency of TWK results.

The aftermath of the revision of the KPK Law which was massively rejected in 2019 is the reason we are in our current position. One of the revisions to the KPK Law contained the transfer of the staffing status of KPK members to Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) and led to the Tes Wawasan Kebangsaan (TWK) which succeeded in "screening" 75 KPK employees to be released from their duties. Seventy-five people, who protect Ibu Pertiwi from being devoured by their own elements, are known to have a clean track record. Like being slowly killed, what appears now are attempts at weakening. The release of 75 KPK employees is proof that efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia are still far from good. There is only one word to respond to this weakening; fight!

Event Review: ALSA Get-together 2021 Written By: Asina Grace Ofelia On 28 May 2021, ALSA Get-together 2021 was held with the theme “Heartbeat of Amity: Dance to the Harmony of Friendship”. As the annual agenda of Internal Public Relations Division that is intended to strengthen the bond within Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia (“FH UI”), ALSA Get-together 2021 was attended by various Badan Otonom (“BO”), Badan Semi Otonom (“BSO”), and Lembaga Tinggi Kemahasiswaan (“LTK”) of FH UI. The participants of ALSA Get-Together 2021 were given several fun activities, such as an individual game and a game session which needed teamwork. Started with introductions from each BO, BSO, and LTK through an ice breaking session. All of the participants were required to pay attention during the session because it is about a little girl who was lost in FH UI, and the participants had a mission to help while telling her the organizations in FH UI. As for the games, we had two games, which were Juara Olimpiade and Balap Liar. Juara Olimpiade was played individually, where the participants had to answer all the questions shown on Kahoot correctly. One participant who answered the most correct answers was given a prize. Last but not least, the most exciting yet confusing game, Balap Liar which required accurate and critical thinking. In this game, the participants were classified based on organizations and asked to enter a Breakout Room as instructed by the Master of Ceremony (“MC”). They were given a set of questions and had to answer all the questions as fast as possible. The winner of this game was determined by the first organization who managed to enter a Secret Breakout Room. May this event be a memorable moment for all participants and bring joy to each individual. We hope ALSA Get-Together 2021 unites all the participants as a family of FH UI, and promotes a strong relationship within FH UI in harmony.
