Janet Carter Smith named as president for Choice Pet Products

Choice Pet Products has appointed Janet Carter Smith to the role of president. As the company’s first president, Ms Carter Smith will assume day-to-day leadership, playing a key role in the distributor’s continued growth.

Ms Carter Smith has more than 25 years of experience in strategy and operational development in sales, marketing and retail. She recently received the 2022 Award for Business Excellence from the DSN Top Women in Health & Wellness. Alongside her experience, Ms Carter Smith also has a passion for animal welfare. She founded Friends 4 Life, a non-profit animal rescue group, and managed the group for more than 10 years.

At Choice Pet Products, Ms Carter Smith will help expand the company’s employee base, as well as its sales, logistics and operations, while enforcing the company’s vision. She will also implement strategies to help Choice Pet Products’ customers and partners expand their businesses.

Nat Davies named as Vice President for Pet Food Institute

The Pet Food Institute (PFI), whose members make the vast majority of dog and cat food and treats in the United States, promoted Nat Davies to vice president of business operations and programs.

Mr Davies, who has been with PFI for almost nine years, previously held the role of senior director of business operations and programs. In this role, Mr Davies manages the day-to-day business of PFI, including overseeing financial and operational activities. He also manages the Market Access Program (MAP). Mr Davies earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Maryland. He also holds a technician’s diploma in accounting from the Institute of Public Administration and Management from the University of Sierra Leone.

“Nat’s promotion is well deserved and is in recognition of his exemplary service for the past years to PFI’s members, staff and the entire pet food industry,” says President & CEO Dana Brooks.

Bruce Casalis appointed Chair of the Pet Industry Federation

The Pet Industry Federation has announced that Bruce Casalis has been appointed Chair of the Pet Industry Federation following a recent board meeting this month.

Founder of Bruce’s Doggy Day Care in 2008, Mr Casalis has been a board Director of the Pet Industry Federation since 2018 and is a recognised pioneer in the pet service sector.

PIF CEO, Nigel Baker comments, “We are delighted to have secured someone of Bruce’s calibre to Chair PIF. There are a lot of exciting developments in the pipeline for PIF members this year and we very much look forward to working with Bruce to help bring these to fruition.”

New Chair, Bruce Casalis adds, “I am excited to be taking on the Chair role in PIF’s 75th year and am looking forward to using my experience and passion to help the Federation grow and become an even more effective ambassador for the pet industry.”
