Longview Stud offers the Dubawi half-sister to the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner and Prix de Diane runner-up Beauty Parlour (Lot 255). Stud manager Diego Romeo reports that the farm bought the dam Bastet privately from the Wildenstein dispersal
Beauty Parlour (Deep Impact), ridden by jockey Christophe Soumillon, goes to post before the Sun Chariot Stakes in 2012. She has a Dansili two-year-old and a Kingman yearling at White Birch Farm
What led you to Bastet’s purchase – she was a private purchase from the Wildenstein dispersal. What was it about her that was of interest? Bastet obviously was already the dam of a Group 1 Classic winner in Beauty Parlour, therefore she always would have lots of appeal to any commercial breeder. These Wildenstein families just keep throwing up good horses.
You have twice covered her with Dubawi and got two fillies… what is the thinking behind the cover?
Dubawi is one of the top stallions worldwide for producing Classic and black-type winners, furthermore he is a very sought after
broodmare sire so having a filly by Dubawi out of a Group 1 Classic producer is very exciting.
Is this year’s foal similar to the yearling? Will the plan be to offer the foal as a yearling in 2019?
She is a totally different type, she is more scopey and a completely different colour. I think she will probably be retained to race, but nothing definite at this point in time.
Who is the mare in foal to now? Dark Angel
