Simon W i l l i a m s At the Beach

At the Beach Over twenty five canvases, both large and small dedicated to capturing New Zealand life At The Beach. Of his first solo exhibition in four years Williams says: “These paintings reflect the strong, simple shapes of our landscape created by our clear New Zealand light. In some of these works I have applied more paint than usual in order to create greater texture than in the past - it is a process of feeling the landscape through brush strokes. In these new works I have not allowed the subject to influence the canvas size. Intimate coastal scenes that once would have been painted as small works, are now rendered on a large scale. I’ve enjoyed the contrast of small scenes being painted large”. These paintings are a tribute to our golden summers
