“ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE”

The BSW family celebrates the happiness of Prof. Anil John receiving his Ph.D.

PERFORMING ON THE STREETS OF FORT KOCHI

This programme was conducted by Childline Kochi. The venue was the Santa

Maria School at Mundamvelly. Selected students from the BSW programme participated.

A street play was put up by the BSW students with the help of Vijay sir from Childline. It was the 25th anniversary of the school with which Childline Kochi collaborated. The

programme was held on 26th July 2019, Friday. It was in collaboration with DLSA, Police and other authorities.

The BSW 2nd year students were lucky to have their First Street Play Training on the 8th & 9th of July. The man behind the

training was Mr. Sunil Kumar who is a Professional drama actor, a

well-known figure in the world of theatre. A lot of group activities were conducted which brought all the students together and allowed them to work without any setbacks. He mainly focused on shedding the inner conflicts students normally faced and helped them let out

their ideas and artistic instincts flow without any boundaries or ground rules. He was a companion more than a target setter. The training, focused on bringing folk lore into life by planning out a

group dance with a folk song. Later on the themes were set and the class was divided into groups and each group had to perform on their themes. Some teams performed quite disastrously, but everyone enjoyed the time and they were able to spend on stage doing acts that

were never dreamt of being done. On the next day, set themes were given and teams had to put their shows, each team was supervised and

guided by Kumar Sir and his friend. The two days were really refreshing and a very fun, fresh experience, since although some students had art related backgrounds, but some new actors from among the class

were identified, whereas others got opportunity to shed their peels of shyness.

towns. Everywhere its polluted and improper waste management and sanitation facilities worsen health hazards. The scheme where in e toilets were installed

was brilliant, but due to lack of implementation, e toilets were reduced to mere storage blocks.

Every citizen of this country face problems relating to health but any

form of repression gets suppressed after a point. The studies find Kerala, pretty clean than a lot of other states in India. But this is just a comparison. Every nook and corner, nearly everyone has to deal with the above. Various plans to

improve health, waste management and sanitation facilities crosses through the parliament, but when it comes to execution, it fails to be a satisfactory one.

Waste management has always been one of the major objective that every

government keeps forward and tries their best in implementing various projects in order to achieve it. But the problem of pollution, illegal disposing, drainage

issues all seems to remain the same. It is the attitude of each and every person that is to be changed in keeping their surroundings neat and clean. However they fail to do so.

The government has tried their level best in bringing up several ideas

and initiatives with regard to Waste Management. However the people’s

participation is very much required in making these projects and programmes into practice.

The students of BSW 2nd year under the guidance of Dr. Giji George proposed

an action plan to initiate a clean drive and a proper waste management mechanism over the areas of NAD road, Kalamassery which has been polluted due to sheer ignorance of the so called “fellow human beings.

The execution till date mainly included, the students who were assigned

also collected the contact details of the educational & other institutions residing Armament Depot (NAD, ALWAYE) regarding the action plan. The officials promised to support the trainees and readily gave in their contact details. The trainees were later on accompanied by the Faculty Coordinator Mrs Giji George to meet the ward councillor of the Eloor Municipality. The councillor Mr. Joseph

Sherri who is renowned for his environment friendly activities gave in many suggestions that the trainees could take up. The suggestions included various

waste management mechanisms that could be implemented such as Aerobic

bins, Bio-digester, Material Collection Unit and Plastic shredder unit. Apart from that various other ideas and suggestions were also provided by him.
